There is something very likable about Matt Berry, and it’s not just his awesome voice. The fact that we see him in many British comedies shows just how talented he is, and with Toast of London: Series Three we see him at his best.
It would be easy to believe that Steven Toast is Matt Berry, the character feels like the ones we’ve seen him play before. In Toast of London though we see him sending up the stereotypical “Luvvies” acting community that we usually see haunting the streets of London looking for their next job.
Each episode of the show typically sees Toast being given a job by his “old school” agent Jane Plough (Doon Mackichan) and given some bad advice by his housemate Ed Howzer-Black (Robert Bathurst). What makes Toast of London interesting though is not only the outlandish characters that we meet, but also...

Steve Rannazzisi is apologizing again for lying about narrowly escaping death on 9/11.
The disgraced comedian appeared on The Howard Stern Show on Tuesday to ask for forgiveness in his first interview since the scandal broke.
"My dumb mistake created a story that hit a wound that should never have been touched," he said.
Rannazzisi, 37, told the shock jock that he concocted his story in "waves" while pursuing a stand-up career in Los Angeles.
"It was a completely out of the blue situation," he said. "It wasn't calculated."

The trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is out and you’ve no doubt seen it here on ComicMix and elsewhere. It looks pretty spiffy, I think, and I’m ready to shell out my shekels to see it.
I came into the living room the other day as My Mary was watching the end the previous Amazing Spider-Man on the tube. She mentioned how her friend Sherry preferred Toby McGuire’s Spider-Man to Andrew Garfield’s and made an interesting observation: McGuire’s Spider-Man was more Todd MacFarland while Garfield’s was more Steve Ditko. I found that pretty astute.
McGuire was also Sherry’s first Spider-Man and I think that also plays into it. Who your favorite artist (or even writer) on a given character or property may depend on who was on the book when you first read it. For me, my Spider-Man artist was John Romita – and that’s Senior,...

I don’t know about you, but my television was tuned to Doctor Who all weekend. From marathons to specials, I thoroughly enjoyed the build up to the 50th anniversary special episode, The Day of the Doctor, that aired on Saturday.
While it was pretty widely understood that not all the doctors would be appearing in the episode we did hear rumors that some of the classics were kicking up a stink about not getting the call to join in the episode and you can see how that all worked out in the short film, The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot.
You’ll want to check out the short film with special appearances by Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, Steven Moffat, Russell T. Davies, David Tennant, Janet Fielding, Georgia Moffett, John Barrowman and more. Here’s a trailer for the short film, followed by the film itself written...

When Peter Calpadi steps in for Matt Smith come Christmas time, we will be seeing the twelfth version of our favorite Time Lord. The Doctor’s ability to regenerate has allowed us to see our favorite character develop over fifty long years – something not many characters get the chance to do. The idea of regeneration was a genius one, not just because the show is now seeing its fifty year anniversary, but because we’ve been able to see so many talented actors as the Doctor.
However, for every actor cast as the Doctor, there were several who were turned down. Among those actors are many we wished we could’ve seen inside the Tardis, but there’s just as many we couldn’t be happier to see didn’t get the part. Doctor Who owes its long tenure to the fans, but one wrong casting-call could have ended the show in a heartbeat.

Tomorrow Doctor Who fans worldwide will be huddled in front of their television screens and shoddy livestream connections to watch an unprecedented simulcast of the show’s 50th Anniversary Special: The Day Of The Doctor. In honor of the event, we’re looking back (and in a few cases, forward) at the hottest time travelers of all time. Now, we’ve already ranked the hottest Doctor Who companions (so, no Jack Harkness or Amy Pond on this list, boys and girls), but this time we’re looking at mad scientists, romantic heroes, and more than one Time Lord who goes by the name of “Doctor.”
When Doctor Who first premiered on the BBC 50 years ago, the character was envisioned as a wizened and eccentric grandfather figure. He even traveled with his granddaughter, Susan. While many of the later incarnations were dishes in their own rights (*cough* Peter Davidson...

Have you gotten to see today’s Google Doodle? It celebrates this weekend’s Doctor Who anniversary with a minigame, though the last level gave me a headache.

All right class, it’s time for the next installment of Doctor Who: Doctors Revisited and this time we’re on to Peter Davidson, the fifth Doctor. Peter Davidson’s Doctor was completely enable to resist a cricket game and kept a piece of celery in his lapel to test chemicals in the air.

Chicago – Legendary is one way to describe C2E2 – the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo. Comic book and pop culture fans gathered at McCormick Place in Chicago from April 26-28, 2013, for three days of celebration with their favorite comic, movie, game and television celebrities, and HollywoodChicago.com was there.
One of the highlights of the expo were two stars from the hot HBO epic series, “Game of Thrones,” Natalie Dormer and James Cosmo. Like many of the celebrity participants, they held a forum at which fans asked questions about the current season. AMC’s “The Walking Dead” also was also represented, with Laurie Holden and Chandler Riggs holding court. And there were old favorites like Julie Newmar and Burt Ward of the 1966 classic TV series “Batman,” signing autographs and greeting admirers.

Much like the latest Star Wars rumors (see below), Doctor Who continues to abound with them of what will be involved in the back eight of season seven. As the series begins work on the final episode of the season –wrapping sometime in the middle of December- there is plenty of rumors that the second half of the season will resemble the first half, with those eight episodes being just as “cinematic” as the previous six. While none of the episode titles have been “officially” confirmed, the list currently (maybe) looks like this –note I will call these working titles, because they do have a tendency to change by air date.
Christmas Episode: The Snowmen
Episode 6: The Bells of St. John
Episode 7: The Rings of Akhaten
Episode 8: currently unknown
Episode 9: Phantoms of the Hex

Brendan Jones and Amanda Keller picked up best on air team in the metro FM category.
Keller said: “To get industry recognition for the hard work we’ve put in over many years means a lot, I haven’t been this excited since the Ladybirds won the under 11 netball grand-final. Our production team are the best in the business and our show is an important part of our audience’s lives, what could be better than that?”
Meanwhile, Kyle Sandilands also won again, with The Kyle & Jackie O Show picking up best networked program.
Winner of the best On-Air Team (Metro Am) was the Continuous Call Team of Ray Hadley, Steve Roach, Darryl Brohman and Bob Fulton, from 2Gb. They team also won Best Sports Event Coverage for their call of the 2011 Nrl Grand Final.

It’s not what happens to a character that defines who he is, rather it’s how he handles those things. This is so trite that it’s become a platitude. Yet, when one thinks about Doctor Who, the longest running sci-fi series on television, one has to wonder what’s made it so enduring. It all boils down to how the Doctor deals all the challenges. When those menaces are the Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans, to name just a few, it is easy to see why the Doctor is one of the most beloved of all sci-fi characters.
Yet, whereas the baddies listed above are the greatest threats to the universe, the Doctor’s greatest enemy isn’t one of them. His nemesis is another Time Lord, The Master. The Master is Professor Moriarty to the Doctor’s Sherlock Holmes; he is the yin to the Doctor’s yang.
But,...

New Year's wedding bliss from England, as former "Doctor Who" star David Tennant married his former co-star and fiancée Georgia Moffett. The couple married in London on Friday night before New Year's Eve, according to the Mirror.co.uk. The website reports that only family and close friends were invited to the undisclosed location in London to witness the nuptials. Georgia's father Peter Davidson played Doctor Who in the 1980s. Georgia, 27, met David, 40, when she played the Doctor.s daughter on the show in 2008. The couple has an eight-month-old baby daughter. Georgia has a son from a previous relationship.

Us TV may have more money to spend on TV and big budget shows – think Lost (the pilot alone is said to have cost $12 million) and Spielberg’s latest show Terra Nova (reportedly it cost $50 million to make) - but there are just some British shows that American TV could never do as well as British TV, regardless of the budget. The reason? Because they are quintessentially British. The fact they are based in Britain is as vital to their watchability as the actors who bring the characters to life. Read on and please feel free to leave comments.

If you are tired of the great special effects, high production values and cool stories of the revamped Doctor Who currently airing on TV -- and I've seen the latest "The Waters of Mars" episode and it's quite, quite good -- then head on over to YouTube where you can catch some classic episodes from Who's 40 year history, spinning back to original episodes from the William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee and Peter Davidson eras of the series.
Sure, the special effects and the production values are shaky, forcing you to ramp up your imagination to smooth over the rough spots in the rubber suits and BBC backlot sets, but the stories from these classic era episodes remain just as cool as those in the modern eras. And the Doctors who headline these tales are just as compelling to watch as Tennant.
