Amazon Studios is taking its relationship with Woody Allen to the next level. The streaming giant, according to sources, is in negotiations to fully finance the director’s next film, the untitled Kate Winslet-Jim Belushi starrer. The Hollywood Reporter previously reported that Amazon was negotiating to distribute the movie, which co-stars Justin Timberlake and Juno Temple, but it now appears that the deep-pocketed company is sweetening the offer significantly. An insider pegs the pic’s budget at $25 million. By opting to have Amazon finance, Allen shut out longtime financiers Stephen Tenenbaum and Edward Walson. The pair together have

As is his wont, no plot details have shaken from Woody Allen's next picture. But, as usual, his "Irrational Man" followup will be produced by Letty Arsonson, Stephen Tenenbaum and Edward Walson. And the full cast list has dropped. Jeannie Berlin, Corey Stoll and Ken Stott now join previously announced players Parker Posey (who shines as an amorous professor in "Irrational Man"), Jesse Eisenberg, Blake Lively, Kristen Stewart and Bruce Willis. Co-stars are Anna Camp, Stephen Kunken, Sari Lennick and Paul Schneider. Casting Parker Posey again was a no-brainer. She has said she always wanted to work with the prolific director. Character actress Jeannie Berlin (of Elaine May's "The Heartbreak Kid") has never been in an Allen picture, surprisingly. Also a storied stage actress, she's fabulous in Kenneth Lonergan's film "Margaret." The film reportedly begins filming this month on location in New York and Los Angeles. Read More: The 9 Women You.

Along with Quentin Tarantino, New York filmmaker Woody Allen is responsible for reigniting the careers of many actors with his quirky, neurotic brand of dramedy. The prolific writer-director has churned out one feature a year for decades, each honing in on a particular aspect of the human condition brought to life through his talent-packed ensembles. While at times his output veers wildly from critical smash to critical flop, that hasn’t stopped him from continuing to attract a wealth of Hollywood big hitters.

"Magic in the Moonlight" isn't in theaters just yet, but Woody Allen is already hard at work on his next film, and Parker Posey and Jamie Blackley are the latest performers to join his ever-growing cast of characters. The duo will join Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone in the next "Untitled Woody Allen Project," which is currently shooting in Rhode Island. The film's plot is a mystery for now. As per usual, Letty Aronson and Stephen Tenenbaum will produce the film, which will likely be seen sometime in 2015, although no distributor is yet on board. The prolific Posey is perhaps best known for her roles in Christopher Guest's mockumentaries, including "Waiting For Guffman" and "Best in Show." She'll soon be seen in "Ned Rifle," directed by frequent collaborator Hal Hartley. She also appears in the much-maligned "Grace of Monaco," which has yet to be released in the U.S.

Little has been known about the romantic comedy, which earns a spot as one of our most anticipated movies of 2014. But with Sony Pictures Classics announcing tonight that it has acquired all rights for the film’s North American release, a short first synopsis has been teased in the press release.

Plenty of groups give out awards for excellence in film and television at the end of every year, but no set of nominations is watched more carefully by Oscar predictors than the picks from the Producers Guild. That’s because year after year their choices end up being a fairly good indicator of which films will also be granted Best Picture nominations when the Academy makes their selections.
The Guild has announced their 2014 nominations today and there aren’t really any major surprises here. All the expected films are present, including 12 Years A Slave, American Hustle, Captain Phillips, Gravity, Her and The Wolf Of Wall Street. Animated films that nabbed nominations are The Croods, Despicable Me 2, Epic, Frozen and Monsters University. Included in the documentary nominations are A Place at the Table, Far Out Isn’t Far Enough: The Tomi Ungerer Story, Life According to Sam, We Steal Secrets: The Story of Wikileaks...

The Producers Guild of America has accurately forecast the last six Best Picture Oscar winners, so it was good news for 10 films that were nominated today for the PGA’s Darryl F. Zanuck Award. While Gravity, 12 Years a Slave, and American Hustle were among the films that made the cut, Inside Llewyn Davis, The Butler, and Fruitvale Station did not. Last year, eight of the 10 movies that received nods from the PGA went on to earn Oscar nominations for Best Picture.
