April 1 proved more fun for MSNBC than CNN. Both networks saw primetime launches Monday night, with Chris Hayes' All In and (Get to) The Point seeing their respective opens bring very different results. Ed Schultz replacement Hayes made his primetime debut at 8 p.m., bringing in 859,000 total viewers and 298,000 adults 25-54. MSNBC continued to trail time-slot leader The O'Reilly Factor -- Scott Brown guest hosted for Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly -- but did see demo gains from Schultz. Home Nations rivals Scotland and Wales will face-off tomorrow at Hampden Park, with both sides needing a win to keep any hope alive of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The two bottom sides in Group A met last October at the Millenium Stadium with Wales emerging victorious thanks to a Gareth Bale double. James Morrison had earlier scored for the Scots and Steven Fletcher had a goal disallowed but like much of Craig Levein’s tenure as Scotland manager luck was not on their side.
Chris Coleman also has not endured the best of times as a national team manager. However, he picked up his second win as Wales manager in February when Austria were beaten 2-1. Rachel Maddow ended her show tonight taking on the allegation by former senator Scott Brown that his bizarre tweeting (including the new word "Bqhatevwr") a few weeks ago was not a result of drinking, but just the unfortunate result of pocket-tweeting. But Maddow wasn't buying this response, and actually cited some examples to suggest that whatever led Brown to "Bqhatevwr," it wasn't a pocket tweet.

Fox News has landed another high profile former politician -- of sorts -- hiring Herman Cain, who campaigned for the Republican party's presidential nomination in 2012, as a contributor.
The news network also recently hired former senator Scott Brown (a Republican) of Massachusetts and former congressman Dennis Kucinich (a Democrat) of Ohio.
The additions come after the network cut ties with controversial conservative voices Sarah Palin and Dick Morris, but renewed a contract with Karl Rove to remain a contributor through 2016.
Cain is expected to provide business and political analysis during daytime and primetime programming on both Fox News and Fox Business Channel.
Cain spent a decade as CEO of Godfather's Pizza and was the Gop's front-runner for the presidential nomination in polling during fall 2011. He ultimately suspended his campaign in December 2011 following allegations of sexual misconduct, which Cain vehemently denied.

I really don't put much stock in the International Animated Film Society's 2013 Annie Awards, which is why I didn't rush to report on their results on Saturday. One year Disney and Pixar boycott the event, feeling there was an unfair advantage paid to larger contributing sponsors, DreamWorks being the primary example. So with such a nasty stench over the event what good does it do to pay it much mind? That said, I'll be brief in mentioning Wreck-It Ralph topped Saturday night's winners with five awards, including Best Animated Picture. The awards have something like a 75% streak when it comes to helping predict the eventual Oscar winner for Best Animated Feature and as the days have gone on, it's looking more and more like Ralph will be this year's winner (see my predictions here). Pixar's Brave, Laika's ParaNorman and DreamWorks' Rise of the Guardians each took home two awards in lesser,...

The Scarlett Johannson/Benjamin Walker revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof opened last week, and as New York theater critic Scott Brown mentioned, Walker spends much of the first act wearing only a towel. In honor of the stripped-down performance, Vulture reached into its vault of celebrity transcripts (such a thing exists; you will never find it) to present you with Jada Yuan's almost complete conversation with Walker, whom she profiled for the magazine. It's a doozy — enjoy!Have you had any mishaps on stage yet? I do a lot of rolling and falling, and the other night I cut myself and it bled on my white silk pajamas, which really pissed off the costume people. Goddamnit, get your shit together. Don’t bleed on my clothes. Who do you think you are? How did you fall? I honestly don’t know. I just looked down and there’s blood on white silk.

Dead Accounts, featuring Katie Holmes as "a ground-down never-was with body image issues and a crater where her confidence should be," is closing on Jan. 6, 2013. Directed by Jack O'Brien and written by Smash's Theresa Rebeck, the dramedy will have given 27 previews and 44 regular shows. New York's Scott Brown dubbed it "kinda populist, faintly retrograde, somewhat pander-prone," and singled out Holmes's performance as "insanely miscast but sunnily game."...

Celtic recorded a comfortable victory at Parkhead as they dominated the visitors in the second half with a Gary Hooper inspired performance. The English striker got two goals and two assists – for Scott Brown and James Forrest – as Celtic ran out 4-0 winners. County went into the match in poor form as they hadn’t won in their last six Spl outings. Their last victory came on 3 November against Aberdeen. Celtic, on the other hand, were in excellent form having won their last four league matches. Despite the large score line County played quite well throughout the match and had their finishing been more clinical could have troubled the home side.
Celtic lined up in a 4-3-3 with Victor Wanyama sitting in behind the two central midfielders and Gary Hooper playing in a false number 9 role behind the two wide-forwards. Celtic made two changes to the side that beat St.

Washington, Dec 19: Ben Affleck could be in the running to become a future Us senator.
According to CBS Boston, the 40-year-old actor is on a list of possible successors to Massachusetts Senator John Kerry, the Politico reported.
Political analyst Jon Keller has heard Affleck's name being "tossed around" among others - including Scott Brown, Rep. Mike Capuano, Rep. Ed Markey and Rep. Stephen Lynch - to take Kerry's seat, he said on Tuesday.
If President Barack Obama appoints Kerry as secretary of state, as expected, a special election will be held to fill his spot.

I love the art of animation, and it's amazing to see how far things have come and advanced over the years. The industry is changing in terms of technology, but what it all really comes down to is telling good stories. There's been a lot of great animated movies this year, and many of them are up for several awards at the 40th Annual Annie Awards.
Some of the movies nomainated include Brave, Frankenweenie, Hotel Transylvania, ParaNorman, Rise of the Guardians, The Pirates! Band of Misfits, and Wreck-It Ralph. Out of those films my favorite is a toss up between Wreck-It Ralph and ParaNorman, those were two pretty incredible films. I think ParaNorman has the edge though.
Some of the other animated properties nominated are Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1, Disney Tron: Uprising, Justice League: Doom, Robot Chicken ‘DC Comics Special', South Park ‘Raising the Bar’, and several others.

Celtic needed to respond after their poor domestic performances in recent weeks. Gary Hooper rounded off the win in the second half but Fraser Forster still had to save a penalty in the final few minutes. Celtic were the better side in the match but they were lucky to win by four goals as Hearts quite played well and didn’t deserve to be on the end of such a scoreline.

With the most recent round of elections over, pundits have already pounced on the 2014 cycle. Some of the speculation has centered around actress and activist Ashley Judd, a Kentucky native who some say would be a perfect candidate to challenge Sen. Mitch McConnell in the 2014 election.
The Golden Globe-nominated actress, who is married to three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti, is one third of the famous Judd clan -- mother Naomi and half-sister Wynonna are country music stars.

As the race for United States Senate in Massachusetts entered its final week, incumbent Republican Senator Scott Brown was all revved up to attend a fourth and final debate with challenger Elizabeth Warren, who enjoys about a five-point lead in the polls. ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News, NBC and the Associated Press are changing the way Election Night exit polls are conducted. Their poll consortium is cutting back this year on in-person exit polls while increasing the amount of telephone polling, the AP reports. This is to take into account more people voting before November 6 and households that have dropped land lines in favor of cell phones. “It makes it trickier,” said Joe Lenski, Evp of Edison Research, which oversees the election operation. “It means there are a lot of different pieces to keep track of.” The changes are also partly because of the expense, although AP didn’t cite any figures. To save money this year, the consortium is doing bare bones exit polling in 19 states. They are considered non-battleground states: Alaska, Arkansas, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas,...

Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) has been working really hard since he made it to the Senate to hone his bipartisan image -- and also his abs.

Brown also took the runner-up spot for "Gym Rat" behind Thune, with the magazine noting, "How do you think they stay so hot?"
Brown's campaign declined to weigh in on the beauty pageant rankings, but did point to the category that it found most relevant to the Massachusetts contest against the senator's Democratic challenger, Elizabeth Warren: Washingtonian's insiders also dubbed Brown the least partisan senator,...

Farewell to lyricist Hal David, who passed away at the age of 91. A frequent collaborator of Burt Bacharach, he wrote songs that we all know the words to. Hal, I say a little prayer for you.
The X Factor winner Alexandra Burke disappointed fans at Brighton Pride, cancelling at the last minute "because her team were not satisfied with the crowd, estimated in the thousands, and claimed it was not significant enough for the singer to attend." Oh, honey. It's not wise to diss the gays.
Finally, after snubbing beer enthusiasts on his reddit Ama, President Obama has released the recipes for the two White House beers. Now we just need Mitt Romney's tax returns, and we'll be able to make a decision on who to vote for.

Appearing on Fox & Friends on Wednesday, Sen. Scott Brown (R-ma) discussed a new ad that his campaign recently released which focuses on the similarities between President Barack Obama’s defense of the public sector with that of his Democratic opponent, Harvard University Professor Elizabeth Warren. Brown called her a “jobs destroyer” and asked if anyone felt it would be better for the nation to have a “self-proclaimed rock thrower” replace him in the Senate.

Scott Brown (R-Good Timing) has agreed to debate Senate challenger Elizabeth Warren on one condition: that MSNBC, the cable network sponsoring the debate, drop out.
Here's the letter from Brown's campaign, via the Boston Globe
[W]hile we accept Tom Brokaw as a moderator, we prefer debates with local media sponsors, not out-of-state cable networks with a reputation for political advocacy. We are confident that issue can be easily addressed as there are a number of Massachusetts media outlets that would be willing to sponsor a debate such as the one you are proposing for the Kennedy Institute, and I’m sure they would be pleased to have Mr. Brokaw as moderator.

Ben Affleck joins the ranks of George Clooney, Ryan Murphy and other Hollywood figures who are throwing their celebrity behind the Democrats this election season. The actor hosted a massive fundraiser for Elizabeth Warren, who is running to take Ted Kennedy's Massachusetts senate seat back for the Democrats from the incumbent, Scott Brown.
The guest list for the event reads like a red carpet tip sheet at an awards show, with "The Office's" John Krasinski, Matt Damon, Jennifer Garner (Affleck's wife), Reese Witherspoon, Zach Braff, Tobey Maguire and other celebrities in attendance. Unsurprisingly, Harvey Weinstein, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Steven Spielberg and a host of other Hollywood bigwigs sent checks.
Sources tell THR that well over $250,000 was raised for Warren's campaign at the event, which took place at J.J. Abrams' studio in Santa Monica. Though it's a far cry from the $15 million Clooney and company raked in for the president,...

The Jobs (Jumpstart Our Small Businesses) Act, a collection of six bills intended to make it easy for small businesses to raise capital by relaxing various Securities and Exchange Commission requirements, including those related to crowdfunding, passed the Senate yesterday. It is now headed back to the House for reconciliation and could become law next week.
While the House version of the bill passed swiftly with bipartisan backing, its passage through the Senate was rockier, with some Democrats and progressives warning that the bill would dilute necessary investor protections contained in the 2002, post-Enron Sarbanes Oxley Act. The bill exempts what it calls “emerging growth companies,” or those with under $1 billion in revenue (!), from some more recent regulations contained in the Dodd-Frank bill. SEC public disclosure rules applying to companies with over 500 shareholders and $10 million in assets are eased too; they now apply to companies with over 2,000 shareholders. The bill passed...

Elizabeth Warren is the darling of the entertainment industry, but the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate may be denied her Hollywood ending. Polls in Massachusetts, where Warren is fighting to take back Ted Kennedy’s seat from Republicans, show the former Obama administration official lagging behind incumbent Scott Brown. To make matters worse, Warren’s celebrity support from the likes of Barbra Streisand, Ron Howard and Cher have left her open to attacks in her home state that she is an out-of-touch elitist. When Sarah Palin declared two weeks ago that she "wasn't too concerned about a HBO movie based on a false narrative," you knew instantaneously that she was fudging it more than a little bit about Game Change. Of course she cared. Just today she launched a video on her SarahPAC website defending her performance in the 2008 campaign and issued a statement that the film "presents a history that never happened."
A week ago Palin unleashed her dogs on HBO and, almost as predictably, on John McCain's senior campaign advisor Steve Schmidt, who has made his disdain for Palin quite public since the 2008 election. In a recent forum sponsored by the New Yorker, Schmidt openly acknowledged that Palin was "clearly not prepared for the presidency."
As part of the orchestrated pushback to Game Change, no fewer than seven of Palin's associates took to the telephone wires angrily denouncing HBO's upcoming fiilm,...

For years, singers have done just about anything they could to get the attention the judges on "American Idol." There have been wacky costumes, shameless flirtation with the panel and some truly horrible original songs. But one surefire way to pique the interest of Randy, Steven and J.Lo (not to mention Simon and Paula in the past) is to reveal in your bio that your dad is already a bold-faced name.
The latest case-in-point is Jane Carrey, the 24-year-old daughter of actor Jim Carrey, who tried out for the show Sunday night. The judges enjoyed her rendition of Bonnie Raitt's "Something to Talk About," while former Fly Girl Jennifer Lopez remembered seeing baby Jane on the set of "In Living Color...

Massachusetts senatorial candidate Elizabeth Warren raised a stunning $5.7 million last quarter with a broad base of support that included Barbra Streisand, Jeffrey Katzenberg, George Soros and three other members of the Soros family, according to federal campaign filings. Democrats are eager to win back a senate seat that was long held by liberal icon Edward Kennedy. Warren, who at one time served as the Obama administration's consumer advocate, has emerged as a leading spokesperson for liberals concerned with income inequality. If you have any doubt that puppets are playing an influential role in our current culture, just take a look at what happened last week, when they were implicated as communists in a liberal, anti-corporation plot.
On Fox Business Channel's "Follow The Money," host Eric Bolling said that the Muppets -- beloved puppet entertainers who have been making both children and adults smile since the 1970s -- were pushing a political agenda, since their most recent film cast a wealthy oil baron and his two puppet sidekicks as the villains.
Never mind that the evil oil baron was played by a singing and rapping Chris Cooper, and that his sidekicks were a shrimp or squid-like creature and a bear. They made a tangible impression on Bolling, to the point that he appeared to be affected by their plight in a very real way.
Perhaps this is due to the Muppets' ethos,...

In the midst of a heated reelection run, Sen. Scott Brown's (R-Mass.) free time is at a premium. A dinner date with Wonder Woman made the cut.
The Hill writes that Brown has won a meal with Lynda Carter, the star of the 1970s television series. Carter was auctioned off to Brown for $1,000 at the recent D.C.'s Funniest Celebrity charity event, with proceeds going to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. (Brown, it should be noted, is married to former TV reporter Gail Huff and has two daughters.)
Brown's affinity for Wonder Woman may be one of the few items he and his opponent in the 2012 Senate race have in common. A November New York Times Magazine profile had constituents comparing Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren to the superhero.
Warren seems to like that comparison herself. During an October debate, she was asked what superhero she would be.

In a somewhat scary development for first-term Sen. Scott Brown (R-ma), Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren's campaign has just released its first fundraising numbers since she joined the race, and the trend is stark. Warren raised $3.15 million since August 30, while Scott Brown, who already had a substantial fundraising lead on Warren, took in only $1.55 million. Warren's haul and her performance in early polls have at least one conservative wondering if Republican fundraising committees should cut bait on Brown.

It's often said that politics is a combat sport. But they've taken it to a new level in Massachusetts.
During a debate Tuesday (Oct. 4) among Democratic candidates for U.S. Senate, Elizabeth Warren took a shot at the person she's angling to replace, onetime nude model and Republican Senator Scott Brown.
When asked, "To help pay for his law school education, Scott Brown posed for Cosmo. How did you pay for your college education?" Warren replied, "I kept my clothes on."
Brown soon fired back. During a radio interview on Thursday (Oct. 6), he was asked what he thought of Warren's comments about keeping her clothes on. Brown simply said "Thank God."
If that wasn't bad enough, the state party representatives joined the fray.
Claire Kelly, the executive director of the state's Democratic party responded, "Sen. Brown's comments are the kind of thing you would expect to hear in a frat house,...
