- Lisa Atkinson is an international filmmaker specializing in visual effects supervising and second unit directing. Known for being one of the first women visual effects supervisors, she started in the film optical department at the National Film Board of Canada and moved on to working in 2D animation visual effects on animated feature films and television shows such as Heavy Metal (1981) and Star Wars Droids (1985). Her early days developing pioneering techniques in computer generated imagery (3D CGI) combined with live-action film and video, served as a foundation for her to be the first visual effects supervisor to use digital effects in a TV series (The Twilight Zone). Her credits include Batman & Robin (1997), Speed 2: Cruise Control (1997), Titanic (1997), Antz (1998), Star Trek : Klingon Encounter (1998), Living Dream (1995), M. Butterfly (1993), Farewell My Concubine (1993), Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1987). Lisa's early start-up days of digital visual effects in China spanned multiple Chinese feature films shot at the Beijing Film Studio and Shanghai Film Studio. As a visual effects supervisor she worked in China starting at the script visualization stage in pre-production through to completing the post-production visual effects on set or on location in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Toronto, New York and Los Angeles.
