It turns out, Peacock is switching everything up when it comes to Love Island.
The fourth season of the hit dating format will air its first season on the streaming service, beginning July 19, with six episodes planned per week.
With a new home, a new filming location, and even a new narrator, many questioned whether Arielle Vandenberg would return as host.
We now have our answer...
Peacock revealed Thursday that Modern Family star Sarah Hyland will be hosting the new season.
It is a bit of a shocker when you consider how well Vandenberg was received, but it does seem like Peacock wants to effectively make a new show.
The move to streaming will result in a steamier iteration of the format, according to the streaming service.
Hyland is best known for her starring role as Haley Dunphy on Golden Globe and 5-consecutive Emmy-award winning hit ABC comedy series Modern Family.

Modern dating is tough. With endless swiping, unanswered DMs and app fatigue, everyone can relate to the trials and tribulations of finding your match in 2022. So, why not go back to the 1800’s?
NBC’s new reality dating show, “The Courtship,” aims to bring chivalry back to love, while traveling to the Regency era. While “The Bachelorette” hands out roses, “The Courtship” determines who goes home with a final dance. Rather than limos, there are carriages. And instead of filming at a venue like the Bachelor Mansion or a tropical island with bikini-clad hopefuls,...

Love Island has been dumped by CBS...
And coupled up with Peacock.
The hit reality series is on the move after three seasons at CBS.
Typically paired with Big Brother in the summer in its former home, Love Island spanned several hours of the line-up.
However, the former home wanted to bring the show back for a fourth season with less episodes.
ITV was uninterested in such a move and took the popular format on the market, and Peacock has picked up two seasons in a "highly competitive" bidding situation.
The immediate change is that the two seasons will shoot in California, likely in response to Covid-19, which forced the second season to shoot in Las Vegas.
The streaming edition of the series promises to be “hotter than ever as the Islanders couple up in a sexy new villa and compete in naughtier games and steamier challenges,” according to the service.

Contestants in the game move into a castle and work as a team to complete a series of challenging missions to earn money for the prize pot. But three of the contestants are secretly traitors, who will attempt to deceive and manipulate their way to the prize by eliminating loyal contestants.
The Dutch version was created by Marc Pos, developed by All3Media’s Idtv & Rtl Creative Unit and produced by Idtv. It launched in March this year on Netherlands commercial broadcaster RTL4 and was a ratings hit, attracting a 43% share of 25-54 year olds and 50% share of 16-24 year olds. A second series was ordered and has also been picked up by Vtm in Belgium.

BBC and NBCUniversal have joined forces in the hope of discovering a new wave of translatlantic unscripted formats.
The two companies have previously shared formats, with NBCUniversal remaking BBC’s “The Wheel” (pictured above), “The Weakest Link” and “Dragon’s Den,” and BBC remaking NBCU’s gameshow “The Wall.”
The new partnership, which was developed by BBC Entertainment’s Syeda Irtizaali and Universal Studio Group’s (a division of NBCUniversal) Ed Havard, VP of creative partnerships, aims to build on these successes by developing and commissioning a broad range of unscripted gems from U.K.-based production companies.
Production companies should feel unfettered by genre and can expect “an aligned set of terms” from both NBCUniversal and BBC, based on the British corporation’s (more favorable) trading agreements. An outline will be made available to prospective partners. BBC Entertainment commissioners Pinki Chambers and Neil McCallum will oversee submissions alongside NBCUniversal’s Havard and Sharon Vuong.

NBCUniversal and the BBC are searching for the next wave of unscripted after striking a transatlantic partnership.
The U.S. media group, which operates broadcast network NBC, a slew of cable networks and streamer Peacock, and the British public broadcaster have teamed up to find unscripted shows that can work both in the States and UK.
The pair will hunt for shows produced by British producers across unscripted genres and will look to co-commission pilots or develop projects with series potential.
They have agreed terms for producers, based on the BBC’s existing terms, which will be a boon for producers as the BBC has much more favorable terms that U.S. networks. Diversity will also be a key part of the decision-making process.
NBC has also remade a number of BBC formats including The Wheel, The Weakest Link and Dragon’s Den, while the BBC has remade NBC’s The Wall.

The series is produced by 51 Minds with Nadine Rajabi, Mark Cronin, Courtland Cox, Cristina Lopez, Tania Hamidi, Christian Sarabia and Zachary Klein as exec producers.

There is now new light at the end of the tunnel and shows that were shut down, forced to adapt or paused during the last twelve months are starting to find a sense of normality with the likes of American Idol bringing back audiences, Survivor finally getting back into production and American Ninja Warrior returning to its traditional summer time slot.
There is also a widespread sense of optimism that the next twelve months will be buoyant for the business – the “roaring ‘20s of non-scripted” as one buyer called it – with the pandemic having an encouraging impact on development that will see some wild and noisy ideas emerge.

A few months before production began on the 19th season of NBC’s singing competition stalwart “The Voice,” coach Blake Shelton didn’t know if they’d be able to do the show.

The classic 1980s video game “Frogger” is getting a modern-day competition series upgrade at Peacock.
The hour-long “Frogger” will feature 12 obstacle courses — or what the streamer is calling “crossings” — that are individually physically demanding challenges based on the original video game, as well as some other nostalgic favorite games. These challenges range from dodging traffic to leaping over snapping alligators to hopping over hungry hippos. However, the show is not solely physical: contestants will also have their strategy and problem-solving smarts tested with these challenges.

Frogger is heading to Peacock.
The classic video arcade game is being turned into a physical competition series for the streamer.
The NBCU platform has ordered 13 episodes of the format from Holey Moley producer Eureka Productions. It marks the biggest non-scripted bet to date for the platform.
The game, which was launched in 1981, saw players try to direct frogs home one by one, crossing a busy road and navigating a river full of hazards. It was developed by Konami and published by Sega and became one of the video game hits of the 1980s.
The franchise now spans more than 30 titles across various platforms and is being turned into a life-size course for human contestants.
The series will feature 12 obstacle courses, or crossings, seeing contestants dodging traffic, leaping over snapping gators and hopping over hungry hippos to conquer the course and win a cash prize.

NBC has given a 10-episode order to a U.S. adaptation of “The Wheel,” based on the new U.K. game show that has scored top ratings for the BBC.
Since premiering in November, “The Wheel” has become the BBC’s top-rated game show launch in a decade. The creatives behind the British format, production shingle Hungry McBear and Michael McIntyre (who hosts the U.K. version), will also produce the U.S. edition for NBC, along with Warner Bros. Unscripted Television’s Warner Horizon.
“It’s incredibly rare in this day and age for a new show to become an unqualified smash hit overnight … let alone in the biggest territory in Europe,” said Mike Darnell, President of Warner Bros. Unscripted Television. “We are thrilled to be in business with Hungry McBear and our amazing partners at NBC, who immediately saw ‘The Wheel’s’ potential and picked it up within 24 hours of the pitch.

Susan Rovner finalized her Entertainment Content executive team on Tuesday, a few months after she joined NBCUniversal to lead its newly formed development unit.
Rovner was hired last year over from Warner Bros. to lead NBCU’s Entertainment Content (i.e. program development) business. That came after a massive reorganization under NBCU CEO Jeff Shell, who restructured the television side of the business into three parts: direct to consumer, entertainment programming and entertainment business. Peacock chief Matt Strauss runs the direct to consumer unit, while Frances Berwick heads up the entertainment business division, where she’ll work closely with Rovner.
As part of Tuesday’s restructure, roughly 50 people will be leaving the company, with the majority coming from inside the division. There were additional cuts in scheduling, acquisitions and marketing.
Here is how the new structure under Rovner is laid out:
