Many anime series come and go without leaving a lasting mark on the industry. Since it premiered in 1992, however, Yu Yu Hakusho remains one of the most talked about battle shonen shows more than 30 years later. Accordingly, it’s quite fitting that a robust Blu-ray box set is being released to celebrate the anime’s legacy on its 30th anniversary.
Yu Yu Hakusho chronicles Yusuke Urameshi’s earnest evolution from a juvenile delinquent to a courageous warrior who becomes humanity’s greatest defense against the spirit world. Yu Yu Hakusho ran for 112 episodes, became a flagship program for Funimation after the company started to branch out and dub series beyond Dragon Ball, as well as a reliable program in Cartoon Network’s Toonami anime block for four years. Yu Yu Hakusho’s two supplemental Ova installments from 2018, “Two Shot” and “All or Nothing,” will finally be dubbed for the first...

One of the most powerful films screened at this year's BFI Flare, Leigh Brooks' documentary The Sound Of Scars tell the inside story of alternative metal band Life Of Agony, singer Mina Caputo's very public gender transition and a generational struggle to find new ways of processing trauma. It's a film which will resonate far beyond its core audience and which highlights Leigh, who previously made a documentary on Terrorvision, as a considerable talent.

A Texas cheerleader has infuriated many in the online community after posting photos that show her smiling while standing over wildlife she shot in Africa. "In 2008, (age 13) I took my second trip to Africa to start my Big 5 experience," she writes on Facebook. "The first animal I ever shot was a White Rhino with a .416 Remington!! A BBC Worldwide newsreader suffers an embarrassing on-air moment worthy of the great Ron Burgundy himself...
"For the last time," wails station director Ed Harken in Anchorman, "anything you put on that prompter, Burgundy will read!"
Dunderheaded news anchor Ron Burgundy's habit of mindlessly reading whatever was put in front of him became a major plot point in that superb 2004 comedy, and a it's an awkward situation a British newsreader got himself on BBC World News recently.
As the Beeb's Jonathan Charles finds to his cost, it's sometimes a good idea to pause for breath between sentences. It's nowhere near as bad as Ron Burgundy's career-destroying outburst in Anchorman, but it's almost as funny...

This I promise you: You’ve never seen ‘N Sync like this.
Over the holidays, I discovered a long-buried fan book (above) hidden away at my parents’ house. ‘N Sync: Everything You Didn’t Know About Justin, Jc, Lance, Chris & Joey is an unauthorized 1999 book by Devra Newberger Speregen and a treasure trove of “intel” about the early days of the band, “fun” facts you may not have known about the guys, and cheesy pictures and language that remind us all that the late ’90s were a very weird time, indeed.
Nearly every sentence in the goofy book is a winner,...

Most people who are familiar with anime (and many who aren’t) probably already know a thing or two about Dragon Ball, one of the most popular family of anime titles to ever grace our shores. But for those of you who don’t, a quick synopsis may be in order. A rough breakdown of the series would go something like:
Episode 1: Goku (charging energy fireball attack) Ka –
Episode 2: Me –
Episode 3: Ah –
Episode 4: Me –
Episode 5: (releases massive wave) Ahh!!!
Episode 6: Ahhhh!!!
Episode 7: Hhh!!!
Episode 8: !!!
Episode 9: Piccolo (sees approaching fireball) Oh crap –
Episode 10: (is hit) Yaaahh!!!
Episode 11: Ahhh!!!
Episode 12: Hhh!!! (end of season 1)
Seasoned fans will get the joke — Dragon Ball, while much beloved, is not exactly known for its breathtaking rate of plot development. Whole episodes, heck, whole Seasons go by as the characters punch, kick, taunt, charge...
