One Piece Live Action has become one of the most-watched shows on Netflix. The live adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s magnum opus saw many fans raise eyebrows, especially after Cowboy Bebop live-action failed to live up to its hype. But with Oda sensei’s presence and the actors’ hard work and love for the anime, it turned out to be one of the best live adaptations ever.
The Straw Hat Pirates cast gained massive popularity and traveled the world to continue their off-camera One Piece bonding. Monkey D. Luffy actor Iñaki Godoy has been the most active person on the internet and also got a character named after him in Roblox. The online game platform included Monkey D. Luffy, and Godoy could barely control his excitement.

Iñaki Godoy has portrayed Monkey D. Luffy in Netflix’s One Piece Live Action to its utmost perfection. At first, the fans were skeptical but later loved him as the Gomu Gomu no Mi user. Godoy is going to reprise his role as the Straw Hats’ captain in One Piece Live Action season 2. Due to the live adaptation, his popularity skyrocketed.
Being involved with one of the biggest shows on Netflix, it is next to impossible to star in another fan-favorite series. But ‘Titans’ actor Ryan Potter saw Iñaki Godoy fit to take up the role of Beast Boy in Dcu’s Teen Titans. Even though it is an opinion, the fans were quick to take up the issue on social media and had their fair share to say.

After the DC Extended Universe’s dismal run, there is a lot of pressure on this franchise to deliver.
No wonder that they are trying to get everything right. And one step in that direction is getting the cast right. For now, it seems like Iñaki Godoy might be perfect for one role in the new franchise.

Avatar: The Last Airbender star Ian Ousley has recently revealed his desire to play Dcu’s Teen Titans role of Garfield Logan. The factory reset of DC Universe by James Gunn and Peter Safran has certainly opened doors for several actors to have their shot at DC Universe after the inception of Chapter 1, Gods and Monsters.

In the near future, Gunn might look to use the popular series, Teen Titan, with an entirely new cast. But ahead of that, Ousley revealed that he has been keen on playing Beast Boy— one of the primary characters of the superpowered teen band. However, fans are not quite so sure as they find another actor better suited for the role.

When Wattpad Webtoon Studios was preparing to release the drama “Float” this year, author Kate Marchant asked for a little help from her fans. The Lionsgate film was based on her story, and now she presented three movie posters to her followers, asking them to pick their favorite.
“I can feel your readers shifting in their seats,” Aron Levitz, president of Wattpad Webtoon Studios, says with a laugh. “All those creative execs are going, ‘Wait a minute, people knew about it before it went out? Are you sure that’s Ok?’”
For Levitz, the answer is a resounding yes. His company is shaking up the traditional approach to creating film and TV adaptations by putting the power in the hands of fans.

Upon his debut as the face of Netflix’s live-action One Piece series, Iñaki Godoy impressed everyone with his portrayal of Monkey D. Luffy, the amiable and upbeat leader of the Straw Hat Pirates and a highly recognizable manga and anime character. Despite his extensive experience as a star in Telemundo’s series La querida del Centauro and Netflix’s The Imperfects, the young actor was still relatively unknown.
Nevertheless, it is inspiring to see a 20-year-old succeed to this extent (he presently has over 2.5 million Instagram followers). The fantasy adventure series, which was based on the well-known Japanese manga series, made the Mexican actor extremely popular among youths.

Any actor, though, is aware that a single role does not define a career. Though Godoy is appreciative of the chance to bring Luffy to life, he is aware that he is capable of so much more.

While One Piece will be keeping Iñaki Godoy busy for probably the next decade, that didn’t stop DC fandom from fan-casting him into another perfect role. Godoy could easily play Beast Boy, one of the founding members of the Teen Titans. However, one major problem could prevent this fan-casting from becoming a reality.

Avatar: The Last Airbender by Netflix is making huge waves as another successful live-action series by the media platform. The One Piece Live Action fever is still very much active, even after half a year of its release. The cast got worldwide recognition and reached the heights of popularity. One of the reasons for the series’ success was Eiichiro Oda, who was present with the production team. He handpicked the actors who were to bring his magnum opus to the live screen.
Season one concluded with the Straw Hats heading for Loguetown. Over the shooting days, the cast bonded and has been going on interviews together. Recently, during an interview, Iñaki Godoy and Taz Skylar were seen together. While the conversation was going on between reel-life Luffy and Sanji, they gave out spoilers about the Whole Cake Island arc, which the series watcher will find hard to relate to.

After experiencing enormous success with its live-action version of the manga and anime One Piece last year, Netflix quickly revealed the second season of the show in response to the positive feedback they received. Now, they’re trying again with a live-action adaptation of the cartoon series “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” which was previously brought to life by director M. Night Shyamalan but failed miserably almost immediately for a number of reasons.

In what was probably their first Hollywood red carpet appearance post-strike, One Piece cast members Iñaki Godoy and Jacob Romero showed up at the premiere for Netflix’s new live-action series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and teased where season 2 could go.

One Piece co-showrunner Matt Owens told Deadline back in October that the Season 2 writers room had met briefly before the WGA strike, with the team getting into writing scripts after the end of the work stoppage this past fall. Romero confirmed the Straw Hats’ mission next season.

If a new video is to be believed, it appears that Luffy actor Iñaki Godoy from Netflix's One Piece series has started training for Season 2.
After a successful first season adapting Eiichiro Oda's beloved anime/manga for live-action, the streamer is headed back to the East Blue, greenlighting more adventures for Godoy's Luffy and his band of iconic pirates.
The One Piece creative team had "definitely started writing" Season 2 of the series before it was officially announced, with new episodes reportedly being "a year away" (via Variety) following the end of the ongoing actors' strike in Hollywood.

Live-action Luffy actor Iñaki Godoy shared his excitement following One Piece's Season 2 announcement
Godoy headlined a stellar cast in Netflix's adaptation of Eiichiro Oda's beloved pirating anime and manga, with this central group of characters being largely to thank for the live-action series' rave reviews.
While a second season of One Piece was not a guarantee (despite series producers having "thorough conversations" about a sophomore effort), after its astoundingly positive critical reception and killer viewership numbers, Netflix gave Season 2 a greenlight mere weeks after the first season's debut.

It looks like Netflix won't be giving "One Piece" the "Cowboy Bebop" treatment. The new live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda's manga has just been renewed for a second season, as announced by the author himself. "Two weeks after the launch, I just received some great news. Netflix has decided to renew the show!" Oda shared in a message via "Transponder Snail." He added: "The adventures of Iñaki and the live-action Straw Hats will continue onward!"
The live-action "One Piece" premiered on the streamer in late August and has been met with praise from fans of both the manga and Toei Animation's long-running anime adaptation. With 20 seasons of that series and counting, plus 106 volumes of the manga, there's plenty more source material for the latest iteration of the story to pull from. The series follows a crew of adventurers called the Straw Hat Pirates, led by semi-superpowered Monkey D.

The Straw Hat Pirates are growing their ranks.
The audience for Netflix’s One Piece ballooned during the series’ first full week on the service, tallying 19.3M views from September 4 to September 10 and easily making it to the top of Netflix’s English-language TV list for the week. The audience is up nearly a million views from last week, when the adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s manga accumulated 18.5M views in its premiere weekend.
The eight-episode series still has a ways to go before it could land on the all-time most popular list, but 37.8M views in less than two weeks is still quite a feat. And there’s plenty of time left in the series’ 91-day premiere window to make it happen.
This is quite the win for Netflix, which threw significant resources into the adaptation. There was certainly a lot riding on One Piece, since it was a...

On August 31, 2023, Netflix began streaming “One Piece,” a live action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda‘s anime manga series of the same name. Developed by Matt Owens and Steven Maeda, the series focuses on the Straw Hat Pirates as they explore the oceans, lands and beyond in search of the “One Piece,” a fabled treasure that will make their captain, Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), “King of the Pirates.” Closely behind them are the Navy, who want the loot for themselves.
The ensemble cast includes Emily Rudd, Mackenyu, Jacob Romero Gibson, Taz Skylar, Vincent Regan and Jeff Ward. With a score of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 95% audience approval, critics and audiences have been praising the story, performances and stunning visual effects. The critics consensus reads, “‘One Piece’ captures the essence of its beloved source material with a charmingly big-hearted adaptation that should entertain longtime fans as well as patient newcomers.

A live-action adaptation of Oda Eiichirô’s manga One Piece sounds like a dicey proposition, especially with Netflix manning the ship. With decades worth of source material to draw from since the series began in 1997, a faithful adaptation would require a near-unthinkable number of seasons from the infamously cancel-happy streamer. Furthermore, compared to its Dragon Ball-inspired contemporaries, the material is unabashedly cartoonish, with much of the manga’s dialogue shouted by an enormous cast of characters with improbable abilities and bodily proportions. A true adaptation would be a more expensive, elaborate undertaking than Cowboy Bebop, which Netflix axed after a single season.
And yet, One Piece defies the odds by being faithful to its source while also standing on its own. Its first season covers a little more than 10 of 100-plus (and counting) manga volumes, making a small dent in the story of Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), the happy-go-lucky,...

Netflix put in the work (seven years to be exact) to craft its live adaption of the bestselling manga series.

This article contains light spoilers for the One Piece manga and anime.
Technically the heroes of One Piece, the Straw Hat Pirates, are villains in their own right. But like any good outlaw story, the truth is always more complicated than just who’s right and who’s wrong. The Straw Hats are pirates, which means they don’t abide by the laws of the World Government. Instead, they fly a jolly roger and sail in search of grand adventure, treasure, and ultimately freedom. Monkey D. Luffy is our main character, he’s unquestionably a hero, and is as strong as he is stupid. He’s very strong and he’s very stupid, but in a lovable, goofy way that draws people to him like a magnet.

There are shows that are hotly anticipated, but "One Piece" falls into more of a "feverishly needed" category. That's no surprise for those in the know: "One Piece" is one of the biggest and most popular franchises in the world. The manga, which first appeared in 1997, is still going strong with over 1,000 chapters. The manga has sold over 516 million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling comic book series ever, Japanese or otherwise. The anime series has well over 1,000 episodes, too. That's only scratching the surface of just how beloved "One Piece" is -- there are 15 films and 56 (!) video games based on the series, and you can bet more of both will be coming. Heck, "One Piece" even has its own theme park in Japan.
With that in mind, it's clear that Netflix has a huge task on its hands by adapting the beloved manga and anime series into a live-action,...

As a school of adaptation, the live-action take on anime and manga is only slightly less cursed than the live-action series or film based on a video game. Yet remarkably, 2023 is set to be a banner year for both. In January, HBO premiered “The Last of Us,” the hit drama that takes the same somber, character-driven approach to a zombie apocalypse as the 2013 game. With rave reviews, major ratings and a raft of Emmy nominations, “The Last of Us” successfully bucked a multi-decade trend. A few months later, “The Super Mario Bros.” movie would repeat the feat at the box office, if not quite with critics.
Netflix may have eyed this trend with some interest as the global streaming service has prepared the launch of “One Piece,” a series adapted from the long-running manga written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. Similar undertakings have a checkered history, a fact Netflix itself...

It rarely takes very long for Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), the irrepressible hero of Netflix’s One Piece, to announce his grand plan to everyone. “I’m going to be king of the pirates,” he declares, always with a bright smile that never seems to have known even a shade of self-doubt.
It sounds like a little boy’s fantasy the first time we hear it — and the second, and the third, and probably the hundredth too. But over eight hour-long episodes, that youthful pluck starts to seem less like a reason to doubt him than a reason to believe in him. One Piece is a celebration of the power of childlike wonder that itself feels like the delightful product of a kid’s imagination.
To be fair, there’s plenty of reason to be skeptical at first that the young man drifting alone in a run-down sailboat has what it takes.

Eiichiro Oda, One Piece creator and executive producer on Netflix’s upcoming adaptation, says that he changed his mind about whether his long-running manga could get a live-action adaption after both technology advances and seeing Shaolin Soccer.
In a rare interview with The New York Times, the Japanese artist behind the best-selling manga in history discusses how Stephen Chow’s 2001 Hong Kong sports comedy inspired the live-action take and how he ensured his upcoming series — which follows a stream of live-action manga adaptation misses — would be satisfactory to fans.

Netflix's "One Piece" series officially hits the streamer on Aug. 31. On Jan. 30, Netflix shared the first look at the live-action series (which is based on the beloved manga by Eiichiro Oda) in the form of a poster, where we see Iñaki Godoy as the series's main character, Monkey D. The "One Piece" manga series began publishing way back in 1997. In it, Oda tells the story of Luffy, a pirate who can gain magical abilities by eating a special type of fruit. He and his Straw Hat Pirates - which include the sword fighter Roronoa Zoro, the sometimes cowardly Usopp, and the prince Sanji - face down all sorts of enemies on their quest. Rarely seen “One Piece” creator Eiichiro Oda gave his blessing to Netflix’s live-action adaptation of his bestselling manga in a video shared by the streamer Tuesday ahead of the show’s Aug. 31 launch.
While Oda’s face is covered with an illustration in the video, his voice is heard loud and clear — transmitted through a “snail phone” gifted to him by “One Piece” star Iñaki Godoy and the team behind the series.
“As a Hollywood production, the action and VFX are great, not to mention the performances by the cast,” Oda, who is famously very private and does not like for his face to be shown publicly, says through the iconic communication method from “One Piece.” “But above all, I want to call attention to how perfect the Straw Hat cast are. It’s like you’re watching the Straw Hats in real life, which I’d love for you to savor.

When Eiichiro Oda created the manga "One Piece" 26 years ago, he could have had no idea how vast the multimedia world of riffs, spinoffs, and adaptations of his tale of friendship in piracy in a seafaring dystopia would become. Since its debut in 1997, "One Piece" has grown to encompass a popular anime series, 14 animated feature films, 13 TV specials, a trading card game, and multiple video games, not to mention international versions of the original manga and anime that have made their ways to over 60 countries and regions. The manga broke a world record for most copies sold of any series in 2022, and it isn't just widely read: it's widely loved. You'll frequently find both the comics and anime top best and most beloved lists.

The livestream for Netflix’s third annual Tudum fan event garnered 78 million views across all of the streamer’s social platforms Saturday, marking this version — presented in front of 11,000 people in São Paulo, Brazil — as up 86% in viewership from last year’s 41.8 million views, and more than 203% from 2021’s initial 25.7 million.
Netflix likely didn’t set out to bring the in-person Tudum crowd to tears during the three-hour event — but once they started flowing, it was a fortunate side effect the streamer proudly displayed on social media.
“I wish you could have been there to convey the electricity of the audience and capture those moments,” Netflix chief marketing officer Marian Lee told Variety Tuesday about the streamer’s first attempt at pulling off Tudum as a real-time presentation with an in-person audience, following two years of the virtual-version of the event. “We posted on Twitter crying fans in the audience...
