Omg, it's finally happened.
Adam Sandler fans are getting a Happy Gilmore 2, nearly 30 years in the making.
The sequel of the 1996 hit comedy is a dual project between Netflix and Happy Madison Productions, Sandler's company.
Sandler hooked a generation of viewers with his crass, blue-collar character infiltrating one of the most white-collar sports.
With his anger management issues and working-class mannerisms, we felt like he was one of us. And we couldn't help but root for him to win.
Happy Gilmore couldn't cut it as a hockey player, but it turned out he was hellah good at golf -- with a custom hockey stick golf club.
And fans loved him, turning golf into a spectator sport that drew all the wrong crowds.
At least, that's how Shooter McGavin -- played by Christopher McDonald -- felt. He tried so hard to earn that gold jacket, only to lose it to a scuzzy amateur golfer wannabe.

We now have the answer, as the sequel has officially been greenlit by Netflix.
The original film, directed by regular collaborator Denis Dugan and written by Sandler and Tim Herlihy, followed Sandler as the titular character, an aspiring ice hockey player who enters a high-profile golfing tournament to earn money to buy his grandmother’s house.
Though his angry outbursts and profane patter initially cause outrage, his skill and tenacity eventually win through in the end. Featuring memorable supporting turns from the much missed Carl Weathers, the imposing...

Stellar Blade, the PlayStation 5 exclusive title from Shift Up, has been out for nearly two weeks now and has been appreciated by fans for its combat mechanics, in-game environment, and main character Eve, among other things. The game has also achieved great sales so far.
However, like the controversy with the character and outfit design before the release, Stellar Blade also faced some issues post-launch, with players complaining about censorship as some outfits of Eve were changed with the day one patch. The censorship saga of the game has taken a new turn.
Stellar Blade Censorship Saga Continues With the ‘Unique’ Japanese Version
The Japanese version of Stellar Blade is different from any other version.
Players accused developer Shift Up and Sony of censoring the game with the day one patch that changed the original outfit designs of the protagonist Eve, and reportedly many also refunded the game because of this.

Taylor Swift’s father, Scott Swift, will not face charges for an alleged altercation with a paparazzi photographer in Sydney, Australia earlier this year.
The incident occurred in February when Swift was performing her “Eras Tour” stops in Melbourne, Australia. According to RTÉ, photographer Ben McDonald was trying to snap pics of Swift, but had an umbrella “shoved in his face to prevent a photo from being taken” as the pop star and her entourage walked down a jetty to their vehicle. McDonald alleged that Scott then confronted him and “took it further.”
After the incident, McDonald filed a complaint with the Australian police, who opened the investigation that has now been closed. In a new statement, police acknowledged that they had “conducted” the investigation, and “no further police action” would be taken.

Adam Sandler is one of the most prolific comedy actors working in Hollywood right now. The actor has his particular brand of comedy, with his gruff voice, loud humor, and the inclusion of Kevin James in many of his films. Though the actor has proved his acting chops in more dramatic roles such as Punch-Drunk Love and Uncut Gems, his comedic roles are still classics.
One of his breakthrough comedies was the sports comedy Happy Gilmore. The film follows the story of an ice hockey player who competes in a local golf tournament. The film was a huge commercial hit, putting Sandler on the map as a bonafide comedy star. His co-star Christopher McDonald mentioned that Sandler had shown him a copy of a sequel for the film.

Fellow '90s kids, this one's for us. Take one of our greatest comedic stars at the height of his powers, add a little golf (by way of hockey), and sprinkle in one unforgettable cameo by the legendary Bob Barker, and you get a beloved comedy classic in "Happy Gilmore." It may have taken the better part of 30 years, but all signs are pointing to a long-overdue sequel after years and years of rumors over whether "Happy Gilmore 2" would ever actually happen.
The potentially headline-grabbing news, reported with a healthy dose of caveats, comes courtesy of Deadline ... and from a somewhat unlikely source. Rather than getting the news straight from either the studio or Sandler himself, actor Christopher McDonald (who played the awfully unlikable yet aptly named pro golfer Shooter McGavin) revealed the new development while participating in a radio interview on Audacy's 92.3 The Fan. A sequel to classic 1996 Adam Sandler comedy Happy Gilmore may be in the making, as a first draft of the script has been written, according to actor Christopher McDonald, a cast member of the original film.
“I saw Adam about two weeks ago, and he says to me, ‘McDonald, you’re gonna love this,'” the actor shared in an interview on Audacy’s 92.3 The Fan. “I said, ‘What?’ He says, ‘How about that?’ and he shows me the first draft of Happy Gilmore 2.”
McDonald suggested that his comments should perhaps be “cut” from the interview, “because I don’t want to be a liar.” Still, he said, “he did show me that [script], and I thought, ‘Well, that would be awesome.’ So, it’s in the works. Fans demand it, dammit!”

Grunge rock’s most indefatigable missionaries, Melvins, will return this spring with Tarantula Heart, their umpteenth release since the turn of the millennium (or is that umphundredth?). As with every release, the group — buoyed by singer-guitarist Buzz Osborne and drummer Dale Crover, since 1983 — have put a new spin on the genre. On the wild “Allergic to Food,” the latest single to come off the album, due out April 19, they dial up the cacophony with even-deeper-than-usual swirls of guitar, drums, and noise with even more musicians.

The Melvins have offered up “Allergic to Food,” the second single from their forthcoming album Tarantula Heart.
The band manages to convey the sonic equivalent of being stricken by a food allergy and all the instant anxiety that comes with it. Unwieldy guitars clash against a foray of unrelenting percussion, immediately calling to mind the hyper noise rock of Melt Banana. And there’s no coming up for air, as Dale Crover and Roy Mayorga’s dueling drum tracks continue to compound on one another in a tornadic flurry.
It’s certainly the flip side of the slower and sludgier lead single “Working the Ditch,” though both tracks showcase the might of the Melvins’ expanded lineup on the new album.
“The way we approached Tarantula Heart was different than any other Melvins’ album,” said frontman Buzz Osborne upon the album’s announcement. “I had Dale and Roy come in and...

The Doobie Brothers’ reunion with Michael McDonald is stretching beyond their upcoming tour, as the band has confirmed they’re back in the studio working on a new album.
McDonald rejoined The Doobie Brothers for their 50th anniversary tour in 2021 (originally scheduled for ’20), which was recently expanded into this summer with Steve Winwood and Robert Cray as support. Those early concerts were the group’s first with McDonald in 25 years, and now they’re recording their first collection of new material together since 1980’s One Step Closer.

Carl Weathers, who died Thursday at age 76, made his name as the formidable boxing adversary Apollo Creed in the Rocky films. But it was his career pivot with the 1996 Adam Sandler comedy Happy Gilmore that made him newly relevant to a younger generation. As it turns out, his road to landing in the beloved comedy was an unlikely one.
Dennis Dugan — who directed Happy Gilmore, in addition to such other comedy hits as Problem Child, Big Daddy and the Grown Ups films — tells The Hollywood Reporter that Weathers “literally couldn’t be a nicer guy, and he was so Chubbs. Nobody else could have ever been Chubbs but him.” The film centers on Sandler’s title character, who can’t hack it as a hockey player but becomes a surprising golf sensation, thanks to his monster drives and the assistance of his mentor, Derick “Chubbs” Peterson.

National Geographic isn’t the first brand you think of designing a new theme park ride at Disney World but it’s a conversation that’s being had within the media conglomerate.
Tom McDonald, EVP, Global Factual and Unscripted, Nat Geo, who joined the company 18 months ago from the BBC has floated the idea of a Nat Geo series becoming an amusement attraction.
“I know this sounds outlandish but when I started, and I half meant it as a joke, one of the things I said was ‘Wouldn’t be great if one of our shows became a theme park ride at Disney World?’,” he said during a keynote session at the Realscreen event in New Orleans. “There are some really interesting conversations happening right now within the system, with Parks and beyond about how we might bring some of our shows to life in the physical world, interesting types of experiences.

Andrey Rublev is excited to see Rafael Nadal returning to competition next month but jokes that he felt "more freedom" while he was away from the tour.

Michael McDonald has announced a new memoir co-written by actor Paul Reiser. Titled What a Fool Believes: A Memoir, it’s slated for release on May 21st, 2024 via Dey Street Books.
According to a press release, What a Fool Believes is “interwoven with unforgettable tales from his storied career and a cast of music greats” including James Taylor, Ray Charles, Carly Simon, and Quincy Jones. The memoir also finds the Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan member “reckoning with the unshakeable insecurities that drove him and the highs and lows of fame and popularity.” Pre-orders are ongoing.
McDonald and Reiser met at a party several years ago, where McDonald learned of Reiser’s love of music — particularly the piano. They began working on the memoir in the spring of 2020 after Reiser “sort of made a joke,” as he explained to People magazine.

The 1975’s Matty Healy got on his soapbox and defended the band’s on-stage protest against anti-lgbtq laws in Malaysia, which got them banned from the country.
Back in July, the 1975 headlined the Good Vibes festival in Kuala Lumpur, but their set was cut short after Healy criticized the country’s strict laws banning same-sex relationships and then kissed bassist Ross McDonald (this was not the first time they’d done this). Not only was the band’s set cut short, but the Malaysian government stepped in and canceled the remainder of the three-day festival.

Canadian auteur Atom Egoyan’s 40-year relationship with the Toronto International Film Festival helped put his movies on the map in Hollywood.
But that impressive trajectory out of Toronto of iconic Egoyan dramas like Next of Kin, Family Viewing, The Adjuster, Exotica, The Sweet Hereafter and Guest of Honor — often psychodramas about families shattered by death, loss and betrayal, as parents and children grow apart — got off to an inauspicious start in 1982 with an early short film that screened from a sidewalk outside the Uptown Theatre on Yonge Street.
“It was the ultimate act of chutzpah,” Egoyan recalls of joining fellow rag-tag filmmaker Bruce McDonald, both of whom had shorts rejected by Toronto fest programmers that year, when a feature by a close friend did get an invite.

After being constrained by the responsibilities of delivering a big budget blockbuster with 1989's "Batman," Tim Burton let his freak flag fly for its follow-up, "Batman Returns." The director had proven he could give Warner Bros. what it wanted with his first movie based on the Dark Knight, and returned to helm the sequel on the proviso that he could basically do whatever he wanted. Which, in practice, meant a total rewrite of the script, a lot more of Burton's expressionist aesthetic, and a horror-tinged tone that was perhaps best encapsulated in Danny DeVito's grotesque version of The Penguin.
Burton and DeVito's take on the legendary Batman villain was a deformed figure who inexplicably spewed black bile from his mouth at various points throughout the film, ultimately hatching a plot to drown all the firstborn sons of Gotham. No wonder Mcdonald's was upset.

Milos Raonic is out of the Canadian Open as he was beaten by Mackenzie McDonald, but he's not committing to retiring yet.
Raonic was basically out of the sport for a very long time with many assuming that he was never going to come back. Injuries and his body not being able to handle the tough nature of the sport practically retired him even without a big announcement.
That changed this year when he made a surprise comeback on the grass. It was a pretty decent showing overall but also a reminder that his body can't really handle regular tennis with a withdrawal leading up to Wimbledon.
As a former Grand Slam finalist, it was tough for him to accept not being to play on the level he played before but over time, he kind of got used to it. He even admitted that he didn't enjoy everything about his comeback to tennis .

After playing two great matches and winning, Milos Raonic 's Canadian Open run is over as he was beaten by Mackenzie McDonald .
Many had high hopes that Raonic could possibly beat McDonald because, in reality, it was a very winnable match for him. The American is a solid player but certainly not on the level as Frances Tiafoe whom Raonic defeated in a c ontroversy-ridden round one match.
The Canadian followed that win up with another solid win over a player who, admittedly wasn't expected to beat to Canadian. So with all of that, some expected him to overcome McDonald however he himself was playing really well at the event so far.
He followed up those great performances with another one against Raonic who gave up his serve early in the match and that was the problem. He needed to keep the match close and put McDonald under a lot...

“I still can’t quite believe that we’ve been Emmy nominated,” says first-time nominee Tara McDonald, the contemporary makeup designer on Netflix’s hit series “Wednesday.” “I would only have ever dreamt of working with Tim Burton. He is one of my favorite directors. I’ve watched so many of his films. I love his films. ‘Edward Scissorhands’ was probably one of the reasons why I wanted to do makeup. It was all pretty surreal.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.
“Wednesday” follows Wednesday Addams’ (Jenna Ortega) years as a student at Nevermore Academy, when she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a killing spree, and solve the mystery that embroiled her parents. McDonald has been nominated for Best Contemporary Makeup (Non-Prosthetic) for her work on the show. The series received 12 Emmy nominations overall, including Best Comedy.

Andrey Rublev continued his struggle at the Canadian Open as he was beaten by Mackenzie McDonald in the second round.
The Russian had a first-round bye which meant that the second-round matchup against Mackenzie McDonald was the first match he played. It wasn't a very good one for the Russian as he lost it pretty easily in two sets which is now the second time in a row he lost early at the Atp 1000 event in Canada.
Wimbledon was a fun experience for him as he played really well, even took a set off from Djokovic but ultimately was beaten by the Serbian . He then made his way to Bastad, where he put together a g reat week to lift the trophy by beating Casper Ruud in the final .
Hamburg wasn't very good as he lost early there and now he's exiting yet another event after getting beaten fairly early.

Washington, Aug 1 (Ians) Frenchman Gael Monfils collected just his second tour-level win of the season and the first since the French Open when he defeated American Bjorn Fratangelo in the first round of the DC Open.
The former World No.6 won 6-3, 6-4 in straight sets against Fratangelo in Washington, D.C. on Monday night.
Staying way behind the baseline, the 36-year-old Monfils used his speed and athleticism to build a defensive wall that the 30-year-old Pittsburgh native was unable to penetrate on his 2023 main-draw tour-level debut.
En route to his 527th match win, Monfils also delighted fans with two signature slam-dunk smashes, according to a report on the Atp website.
Monfils, who at No.323 in the Atp Rankings needed a wild card into the main draw, withdrew from the second round of his home Grand Slam with a left wrist injury and played his first match since Roland Garros last week in Atlanta.
