DC Studios' upcoming Green Lantern TV show, "Lanterns," has assembled its writer corps. Co-CEO James Gunn confirmed on Instagram today that the series' pilot script and show bible was written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and DC Comics writer Tom King, who has been part of the DC Universe's creative team since the start.
"Lanterns" was first announced in January 2023, along with the rest of the "Gods and Monsters" slate, as it's been dubbed by Gunn and his fellow co-ceo, Peter Safran. It's a soft reboot for the DC Extended Universe, which fizzled out into a succession of box office bombs, and is currently taking a bit of a breather while Gunn and Safran assemble this massive new slate of films and TV shows. Gunn is also getting personally stuck in, writing and directing the upcoming "Superman" movie reboot and continuing his creative duties on "Peacemaker" for season 2.

If there's one thing we've learned in this social media age, it's that some people have a very good memory (meaning a once innocent comment can come back to haunt even the best of us).
Earlier today, it was confirmed that Max's Lanterns has tapped Chris Mundy, Tom King, and Damon Lindelof to pen the pilot and a "bible" for the long-awaited TV series. Now, James Gunn's one-time thoughts on the latter have been revealed in a resurfaced Facebook comment.
Way back on March 18, 2012, the DC Studios co-ceo and Superman director said, "Lindelof is close to Satan in my book because of the end of Lost. He's the Uri Gellar of storytellers, a total scam artist with no integrity whatsoever. And a liar."
Something must have changed since then as it was only a few hours ago that Gunn took to Instagram and Threads to proclaim "A hearty welcome...

“What is grief, if not love persevering?” asks Vision in an oft-quoted scene from WandaVision. The sympathetic synthazoid intended the question as a validation of his partner Wanda’s feelings of despair after losing so much in Avengers: Endgame. But it’s also been a good way to describe the state of Marvel Television since WandaVision finished its single-season run.
When WandaVision debuted on Disney+ in 2021, the show promised an exciting era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, still then its apparent prime. Not only did the show focus on a fan-favorite, but little explored character, but it also featured a compelling storytelling style well-suited for the television medium. However, what started as a riff on the history TV sitcoms became a standard superhero battle, complete with Vision battling a duplicate of himself.

In early 2023, James Gunn and Peter Safran introduced their rebooted universe named Dcu, unveiling a comprehensive lineup of projects. The most recent release in the Dceu was ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ last year, which achieved some success, especially compared to many MCU films from that year that struggled with critics and box office performance.
In January, Gunn and Safran revealed the initial projects of the Dcu lineup and announced the team of writers responsible for crafting the overarching story: Drew Goddard, Jeremy Slater, Christina Hodson, Christal Henry, and Tom King. They outlined a plan spanning eight to ten years, divided into “chapters,” with potential for further expansion. The first chapter, ‘Gods and Monsters,’ featured films like ‘Superman’ (originally titled ‘Superman: Legacy’), ‘The Authority,’ ‘The Brave and the Bold,’ ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,’ and ‘Swamp Thing,’ alongside television series such as ‘Creature Commandos,’ ‘Waller,’ ‘Lanterns,’ ‘Paradise Lost,’ and ‘Booster Gold....

Zack Snyder may not be part of the DC verse anymore, but he has given us some of the best Dceu movies of all time. One of these few movies is Justice League. Although the director had to leave midway during the movie’s production, the project brought one of the most iconic comic book scenes on the big screen.
The Flash races against Superman in Justice League
While the movie failed to reveal who is the winner, it featured a Superman vs. Flash race, an event that has occurred many times in comic books. This one scene has a surprising and special connection to Lex Luthor that would really melt the fans’ hearts.

The filming of James Gunn’s new DC universe is underway, and there is already a buzz online as Gunn posts a close-up shot of his new Superman’s emblem. An AI-made picture was even making the rounds, which was debunked by James Gunn himself, that depicts a paparazzi shot of David Corenswet on the set of Superman in full costume, trunks and all. Long before the cameras started rolling, or even before the actors were cast, Gunn had introduced his plans for the newly revamped DC Universe, and in the Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters phase, it would include a film with Superman’s cousin from Krypton, Kara Zor-El, in Supergirl: World of Tomorrow.
Earlier this year, the casting was announced for Gunn’s Superman, known previously as Superman: Legacy, and an announcement was made for House of the Dragon‘s Milly Alcock getting the role of Kara in the upcoming Supergirl film.

To celebrate the ramp up of Superman: Legacy‘s production in Atlanta, director/scribe and co-dc boss James Gunn posted a photo of the cast on Instagram today.
“After the table read with the ‘Superman’ cast,” Gunn wrote. “Eve, Mr. Terrific, Superman/Clark, Otis, Lex, producer Peter Safran, Jimmy, Metamorpho, Lois, Hawkgirl, me, Guy, The Engineer all together for the first time! What a wonderful day.”
Of note in the photo is a bald-headed Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. The actor follows in the footsteps of such actors as Gene Hackman, Kevin Spacey and Jesse Eisenberg who’ve played the villain on the big screen.
David Corenswet is playing the title role, while The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Emmy winner Rachel Brosnahan is Lois Lane. Also in the photo are Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific), Nathan Fillon (Guy Gardner), Isabela Mercad (Hawkgirl) and more.

As movies and TV shows have become the dominant mode of superhero storytelling, some comic writers have crossed mediums with the characters they pen. Allan Heinberg wrote a brief run on "Wonder Woman" and years later wrote the screenplay for the 2017 "Wonder Woman" movie. Brian Michael Bendis, the defining Marvel Comics writer of the 2000s, sat on Marvel Studios' now-disbanded "creative committee." James Gunn, as the co-head of DC Studios, has brought writer Tom King into the fold.
"Deadpool & Wolverine," which brings the 20th Century Fox side of Marvel into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is the latest example of this; one of the movie's five credited co-writers is Zeb Wells, who also wrote an episode of "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law." For some Marvel Comic fans, however, his name lives in infamy.
Now, Wells' "X-Men" related work is well-regarded. The 18-issue series "Hellions" was like a mutant version of "Suicide Squad...

Though we expected this one to rattle on for a while longer, James Gunn has found the person he wants to play Kara Zor-El, Aka Supergirl, in the Dcu. Milly Alcock, who broke out as the young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the early episodes of Game Of Thrones prequel House Of The Dragon has landed the role, according to The Wrap.
While such casting news is usually of the grain-of-salt variety, Gunn himself has taken to Instagram to confirm Alcock's addition to the Dcu.
A bigger question now might be where we'll see her first. Current word has Alcock debuting in Superman: Legacy (which Gunn himself is gearing up to start directing in a few weeks in Atlanta) before she leads her own film, Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow.

Casting is reportedly getting underway to find the new Dcu’s Supergirl!
The role was previously portrayed by Melissa Benoist in The CW’s Arrowverse, and most recently by Sasha Calle in The Flash movie, which was part of the old DC Universe.
Part of the new Dcu will be a new Supergirl movie, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, bringing Tom King‘s comic run of “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” in the way of a “big science-fiction epic film.”
“Now, Superman is a guy who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents,” DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn previously shared of the film. “Whereas Supergirl, in this story, she is a character who was raised on a chunk of Krypton. She watched everybody around her perish in some terrible way, so she’s a much more jaded character.”

According to Deadline, DC Studios are preparing to begin the testing process for the role of Supergirl in the DC Universe. In the mix are Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon), Emilia Jones (Locke & Key), and Meg Donnelly (The Winchesters).
Deadline’s report states that the Supergirl testing will take place sometime in the next month, with James Gunn definitely playing a part in the process. The character is set to take the lead of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, but there’s the chance she could make an appearance in another DC project, which is why the studio wants to sign an actress sooner rather than later. We all know how this process goes, so take this all with a grain of salt; while these actresses could wind up testing for the role, it could easily land in someone else’s lap.

Exclusive: We are hearing that DC Studios is planning to test actresses soon to star in Supergirl, and that Milly Alcock, Emilia Jones and Meg Donnelly are in the mix.
There is a chance the studio could make a straight offer to a star, but all things are pointing toward screen tests for actresses, which will go down within the next month or so, we hear.
Deadline understands that natch, DC Studios co-boss James Gunn is definitely part of the process, as this is a character who likely will make its debut via a cameo in a DC project that isn’t Supergirl. The search is ongoing for a director.
Alcock is best known for her lead role on HBO’s Game of Thrones spinoff House of the Dragon, playing Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. She is repped by CAA, Shanahan Management, Entertainment 360 and Curtis Brown.

Ever since James Gunn and Peter Safran announced their plans for the new look DC Universe, we’ve known that a Supergirl film would be be coming and now it seems that the project has a writer attached to it. Actress and playwright Ana Nogueira has signed a deal to pen the script for Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow.

The new DC Universe is further coming into focus as "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" has found its writer. “As part of our DC slate, some legacy development titles including New Gods and The Trench will not be moving forward,” Warner Bros. and DC said in a statement. “We thank our partners Ava DuVernay, Tom King, James Wan and Peter Safran for their time and collaboration during this process and look forward to our continued partnership with them on other DC stories. The projects will remain in their skillful hands if they were to move forward in the future.”
“I’m upset that the saga of Barda, Scott, Granny, Highfather and The Furies ends this way. Diving into Kirby’s Fourth World was the adventure of a lifetime. That can’t be taken away,...

Ava DuVernay’s teen superhero pilot “Naomi” has added six more to its cast, including “7th Heaven” and “Hart of Dixie” alum Barry Watson making his return to the network.
Watson will play Greg, Naomi’s adoptive father and a veteran military officer who is serious about his responsibilities at the town’s military base. He is happily married and sees Naomi as the perfect daughter.
Earlier this month, the pilot cast Kaci Walfall as the titular hero, an “effortlessly cool and confident high school student” who discovers she has the ability to travel across the multiverse.
Also joining the cast are Mary-Charles Jones as Naomi’s “fiercely loyal” best friend Annabelle, Aidan Gemme as Annabelle’s “sweet, shy and a bit nerdy” boyfriend, Mouzam Makkar as Naomi’s mother Jennifer, Daniel Puig as Naomi’s ex-boyfriend and Will Meyers as a friend who has a crush on Naomi.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for “WandaVision” episode 8, “Previously On.”
In its penultimate episode, “WandaVision” dropped a whole bunch of brand new information. But let’s start with something that we can’t get out of our heads after seeing “Previously On”: That image of the Scarlet Witch that Wanda saw when she had her connection with the Mind Stone?
When Agatha is forcing Wanda to relive significant moments in her life in order to figure out how she became so powerful, one of the memories is Wanda’s time with Hydra. We see her during an experimentation where she’s locked in a room with the scepter, which houses the Mind Stone. She’s told to touch it, even though we hear a scientist say that not one subject has survived direct contact. But Wanda does, and the blue casing around the stone explodes, revealing the Mind Stone’s actual...

Check out this exclusive interview with comic book writer Tom King on his Batman run, Bruce Wayne and love, and more.
“Since his rise in the mid-2010s as a must-read comic book writer with an unlikely background in the CIA, 42-year-old Tom King has used superheroes — both ones you know (Batman) and ones you don’t (Mister Miracle) — to explore themes often avoided in the stereotypically masculine genre: Love and marriage.”

Microsoft has apparently filed a patent for a chat bot technology that mimics real, deceased people.
“From customer service to Marvel marketing gimmicks, chat bots have come a long way since ‘SmarterChild’ entertained users on AOL Instant Messenger in the early aughts. Now, Microsoft is hoping to steer artificial intelligence into murkier waters—namely, creating bots that mimic real, deceased people.”

Way back in September, DC’s second FanDome event dropped a huge announcement: DC Universe, the all-encompassing DC entertainment streaming app that featured comics, movies, and TV shows from the DC catalog, would narrow its focus to comics, becoming an app called DC Universe Infinite.
The new app launches on Jan. 21 and brings with is a slew of changes, many of them for the better — at least if comics are what you’re looking for. Den of Geek got an early peek under the hood of the app and we have plenty of good news to share.
How It Works
First thing’s first: if you already have a DC Universe subscription and you’ve signed off on switching your account to the new app, all you have to do is download the DC Universe Infinite app when it goes live on Thursday morning. The new app will overwrite your...
