The past few weeks have been great for music. With new releases from Ariana Grande, Beyoncé and more, the charts truly feel like they are alive again. Among these big releases, one of the most buzzed about has been the alliance between hip-hop superstar producer Metro Boomin and veteran rapper Future on their album “We Don’t Trust You.” It has been a huge success, debuting atop the Billboard 200 with over 250,000 equivalent album units and multiple songs in the top 10 of that week’s Billboard Hot 100, most notably the single “Like That” with Kendrick Lamar at number-one. Future and Metro’s success might translate to some Grammy prizes in 2025 too.

Florence Pugh is back in Marvel movie mode and shared to Instagram a first look set video from the Atlanta studio where “Thunderbolts” is now in production. The tentpole will mark Pugh’s latest appearance as the assassin Yelena Belova, a role she debuted as in “Black Widow” and reprised on the Disney+ series “Hawkeye.” The set video includes a first look at one of Yelena’s combat-ready suits in the film. Pugh is also sporting some blue eyeliner.
“Hey guys, how are you doing? I know I’ve dropped off for a little bit, but that’s partially because I was whisked off to Atlanta to shoot a movie that I’m not really supposed to talk about,” Pugh told her followers in the video. “But I can show you things, sneakily, as long as you don’t tell anyone…I can show you a sneak peek of the set.

At 48, Killer Mike won three rap Grammys on Sunday and told the audience: “You cannot tell me you get too old. You cannot tell me it’s too late.”
Mike won best rap album for Michael, while his song “Scientists and Engineers” won best rap performance and best rap song. On Twitter, the Recording Academy accidentally announced that Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s “Barbie World” won best rap song, though it went to Michael‘s track, which features Andre 3000, Future and Eryn Allen Kane.
“For all the people out there that think you get too old to rap, bullshit. I don’t give a damn if you’re 78 rapping about how many gals you got in the nursing home, make sure we keep hip-hop alive,” he said during the Grammys pre-show held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The official ceremony will air later from the Crypto.

Taylor Swift is the odds-on favorite to make history with an Album of the Year victory for “Midnights.” It would be her fourth win in the category following victories for “Fearless,” “1989” and “Folklore.” That would set a new record for the most Album of the Year wins for any recording artist ever, breaking Swift’s tie with Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder and Paul Simon. But she’s only tipped to win two other categories out of her six total nominations: Best Pop Vocal Album for “Midnights...

The first new music from Kendrick Lamar since 2022 has arrived in the form of a score for a new short film titled The Button, celebrating the Chanel Spring-Summer 2024 Haute Couture show next week.
At “the invitation of” Chanel’s creative director, Virginie Viard, The Button is a collaborative project between the brand and Lamar’s media company with Dave Free, pgLang. The three-minute, black-and-white short film was written by Free, and stars Margaret Qualley, Anna Mouglalis, and supermodel Naomi Campbell.
Following the arc of The Button’s plot, Lamar’s score — itself possibly a snippet of an unreleased song — is built around a driving beat, and features a subdued verse from the rapper, as well as a brief vocal hook. Check it out below.

Bringing a stripped-down version of her Sos Tour to the grounds outside Dodger Stadium on Sunday night, Sza closed out Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival — the two-day music festival curated by Tyler, the Creator — with a stylish and soulful flourish.
The performance was a victory lap of sorts for the singer-songwriter born Solána Imani Rowel, her first since her nine Grammy award nominations — a record this year — were announced on Friday.
Pulling from her critical and commercial 2022 smash album Sos, her 2017 debut Ctrl and various other sources (her 2018 Black Panther soundtrack duet with Kendrick Lamar, “All the Stars,” plus covers of Dojo Cat’s “Kiss Me More” and Drake’s “Rich Baby Daddy”), Sza writhed in giddy delight, her voice as strong as ever. She even mounted a silver ball suspended in the air for her rendition of “The Weekend.”

Earl Sweatshirt is back with his first new music of 2023, a Jersey club-influenced tribute to 2000s reality TV titled “Making the Band (Danity Kane).”

Sza and Lizzo have been named headliners for the 2023 iteration of Made in America, Jay-Z’s annual two-day festival hosted at Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia. With the two superstars at its helm, the event scheduled for Sept. 2 and 3 struck gold with this year’s lineup.
At a time when many festival organizers couldn’t survive more than a handful of rounds of “For one dollar, name a woman,” Made in America boasts nearly a dozen. Ice Spice, Coi Leray, Latto, Doechii, Lola Brooke, Tems, Coco Jones, TiaCorine, and Tanerélle will all take the stage.

Governors Ball 2023 brought the biggest artists in music out to its jam-packed party in New York this past weekend, and the performances looked epic as hell. The three-day event, which took place at Queens's Flushing Meadow-Corona Park June 9-11, featured a stacked lineup with Lizzo, Kendrick Lamar, and Odesza as headliners. Other big-name performers included Lil Uzi Vert, Diplo, Lil Baby, Kim Petras, Lil Nas X, Ice Spice, Joey Bada$$, and many more.
In spite of a rainstorm and some wildfire smoke that blanketed New York earlier in the week, the 2023 festival still went on as scheduled with some memorable highlights for concertgoers - including a historical performance from Aespa on June 10, who were the first K-pop group to ever make an appearance on the Governors Ball stage. Another big moment was Sunday closer Lamar, who brought out his cousin and frequent collaborator Baby Keem for a surprise performance of their 2021 single "Family Ties.

If Governors Ball is back, it must be summer in New York. The annual festival returned to Queens in early June in roomy new digs: Flushing Meadows Corona Park, just down the block from its 2021-22 home at Citi Field. The sprawling, tree-lined grounds were reminiscent of Gov Ball’s years on Randall’s Island, for anyone whose memories go back as far as the 2010s, only nicer and easier to get to by public transit. With one rainstorm aside, it was a beautiful weekend made all the more welcome...

Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival is back. For the first time since 2019, the music event will return with a new lineup of performers — but it’s keeping its location at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium. Camp Flog Gnaw has always taken place far outside of the normal date range of music’s summer festival season. For 2023, the carnival is scheduled for Nov. 11 and 12.
The 2023 lineup is being kept under wraps for the time being, but Tyler, the Creator might have dropped a few hints about who to expect.

Los Angeles, May 31 (Ians) Rapper Baby Keem and singer Kendrick Lamar have released a new collaboration ‘The Hillbillies’, produced by Evil Giane, alongside a music video directed by Neal Farmer.
Tyler, the Creator makes a cameo in the montage, displaying a ‘Camp Flog Gnaw 2023′ button on a jacket in front of Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium – confirming the carnival’s long-awaited return, reports ‘Variety’.
‘The Hillbillies’ samples Bon Iver’s ‘Pdlif’ and is the latest joint effort from cousins Lamar and Keem, who previously worked together on tracks such as ‘N95’, ‘Die Hard’, ‘Range Brothers’, ‘Savior’, ‘Nile’, and the Grammy award-winning ‘Family Ties’, among others.
According to Keem’s tweet announcing the collaboration, the single also makes reference to Drake’s ‘Sticky’ off his 2022 album ‘Honestly, Nevermind’.

When Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free’s multidisciplinary entertainment company pgLang was first announced in 2020, it was light on the details — both on what the company was meant to be about and how it would change Lamar’s career. The Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper had brought his energetic cousin Baby Keem with him, but pgLang could have been Kendrick making Tde 2.0, starting his own label, or it might have simply been his new toy. Kendrick Lamar has been many things — Black culture firebreather, divisively transgressive rapper, proletariat superstar — but usually, everything...

It’s been just over a year since Kendrick Lamar and his cousin Baby Keem last joined each other on a track. Their Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers deep cut “Savior” was a weighted examination of idol worship, but their latest single, “The Hillbillies,” is the product of both rappers being in a silly, goofy mood, as evidenced in its accompanying Neal Farmer-directed video.

Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar have reunited for their latest collaboration, “The Hillbillies.” Featuring a Bon Iver sample, the song was unexpectedly released on the pgLang YouTube channel along with an accompanying music video.
Featuring fast-paced production by Surf Gang founder Evilgiane, “The Hillbillies” is built around a sample of Bon Iver’s 2020 Covid-19 benefit single “Pdlif.” The freewheeling collaboration between the two cousins details their travels around the world as they rap about fashion, women, and fame.
“We gon’ fuck up the world,” Kendrick raps on the chorus. “Excuse me, but is that your girl?/ Didn’t mean to possess your girl.” Keem adds, “Somebody’s gonna invade on a one of one conversation/ I’m ducked off from the world, I’m immersed in the PlayStation/ And I ain’t worried ’bout her, it’s a thousand hers out waitin’.”

Taylor Swift makes history at the 3rd Annual Gold Derby Music Awards for the most awards won in a single year by an artist. Out of her 11 nominations, she prevailed eight times, including Artist of the Year, Record of the Year (“All Too Well”), and Song of the Year (“All Too Well”), categories she has won every year of the GDMAs so far. But just like last year, she couldn’t take that sweep all the way to Album of the Year. Scroll down for the complete list of winners in all 22 categories, and watch the video announcement above.

Kendrick Lamar, Foo Fighters and Odesza are set to headline this year’s Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.
Paramore, Lil Nas X, My Morning Jacket, Sheryl Crow, Korn, Baby Keem and Paris Jackson will also perform at the four-day event on June 15-18 in Manchester, Tennessee.
Tickets go on sale Thursday. More than 100 acts will perform across 10 stages.
Other performers include Three 6 Mafia, Marcus Mumford, Alesso, Portugal. The Man, Jacob Collier, Tyler Childers, Big Freedia, J.I.D, 070 Shake, Sofi Tukker, Amber Mark and Girl In Red.
Tool, J. Cole and Stevie Nicks headlined last year’s Bonnaroo. The festival didn’t take place in 2021 because of torrential rainfall from Hurricane Ida that left much of the festival’s grounds, including campgrounds and tollbooth paths, waterlogged or flooded.
The festival was also axed in 2020 like most major music events because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Keke Palmer is having a tremendous year. After bringing Insecure to a successful and well-regarded final season in 2021, Palmer saw her star status skyrocket thanks to a lead performance in Jordan Peele’s event horror movie of the summer, Nope. As much a Southern firecracker extrovert as Daniel Kaluuya was understated and laconic in that film, Palmer’s performance (along with Lightyear) brought a lot of attention… including from internet geek fandom which is always on the lookout for their newest bit of superhero movie casting.
Which for Palmer came in the form of an audience eager to see her portray Anna Raven, aka Rogue of those uncanny X-Men. And this Halloween season, Palmer responded to that fan-casting by not only going as the mutant Rogue to Halloween parties, but doing a full on Instagram photoshoot as the character. Perhaps Marvel Studios is taking notes?
