Irving has been at the center of controversy since he tweeted a link to an antisemitic documentary in October. He initially refused to issue an apology and was served an NBA suspension that the organization said would last a minimum of five games. Irving ultimately missed eight games.
Irving’s tweet prompted Nike to cancel the launch of the Kyrie 8 shoe. According to Irving’s Twitter, the shoe was meant to launch on November 11.
On October 29, Irving took to Twitter to say “The ‘Anti-Semitic’ label that is being pushed on me is not justified,” but still he did not apologize. Irving ultimately apologized in a since-deleted Instagram post...

NBA Commish ‘Disappointed’ After Kyrie Irving Doesn’t Apologize for Sharing ‘Vile’ Antisemitic Movie
Kyrie Irving finally addressed the controversy surrounding the antisemitic film he shared to his Twitter followers. But even with his statement, he didn’t apologize, with NBA commissioner Adam Silver criticizing the Brooklyn Nets star for not offering “an unqualified apology.”
On Wednesday, Irving “took responsibility” for his action and said he doesn’t believe that what the film said was “true or reflects my morals and principles.”
“I oppose all forms of hatred and oppression and stand strong with communities that are marginalized and impacted every day. I am...

Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal had a lot to say after Kyrie Irving was recently criticized as having supported a documentary film that features antisemitic tropes.
During TNT’s Inside the NBA on Tuesday, the analysts shared their thoughts about Brooklyn Nets star Irving tweeting a link to the 2018 film Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America on Thursday in a post that has since been deleted. The following day, Nets owner Joe Tsai tweeted his disappointment that the player “appears to support a film based on a book full of anti-semitic disinformation.”
Barkley told viewers that the NBA and commissioner Adam Silver “dropped the ball” on its handling of Irving’s situation. “First of all, Adam’s Jewish,” Barkley said. He then referenced the nearly 37 million that Irving will reportedly earn for this season: “You can’t take my 40 million and insult my religion.

Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal are not happy with the NBA’s decision to not suspend Kyrie Irving for his antisemitic actions on Twitter. Last week, Irving promoted a venomously antisemitic book on Twitter, which Rolling Stone first reported. On Inside the NBA Tuesday, the former pro players said they believed that Irving should have been reprimanded for his hateful actions.
“I think the NBA dropped the ball. I think he should have been suspended. I think Adam [Silver] should have suspended him. You can’t take my 400 million and insult my religion,...

Tibetan rights activists protested tonight alongside Hong Kong democracy activists at the Brooklyn Nets vs Toronto Raptors game at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn. The protesters said their aim was to draw attention to the issue of China’s occupation of Tibet and to send a message to the NBA, along with Nets’ owner, Joseph Tsai (a Hong Kong resident), and La Lakers’ player LeBron James.
Both Tsai and James have attempted to manipulate Houston Rockets general manager Dary Morey’s tweet supporting Hong Kong protesters.
The activists held signs and chanted slogans expressing opposition to Beijing’s attempt to silence voices of support for Hong Kong, Tibetans and Uyghurs, who are facing severe repression under Chinese occupation.
Sitting in Section 1 across from the Nets bench, nine fans wore white shirts with black lettering saying “Free Tibet.” An estimated 100 China protesters filled about eight rows of seats and wore black...
