Douglas Kinnear was born on 26 February 1927 in Québec, Québec, Canada. He was married to Rae and Katie. He died on 11 May 2019 in Montréal, Québec, Canada.
Gastroenterologist, he was the Montreal Canadiens' team doctor (1962-1999). On 9 March 1963, he treated on the ice Lou Fontinato who could have remained paralyzed if not for his work. He was also an important member of the Montreal General Hospital team and university professor. He was a founding member of the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology.
