Committed is one word you could use to describe Tony Khan. The Aew owner and CEO wore a neck brace during the NFL Draft, selling an onscreen attack by Jack Perry and members of the villainous faction The Elite on Dynamite. Khan’s dad Shahid Khan, Jacksonville Jaguars owner, even appeared to express concern for his son at the end of the April 24 episode. It was the first time in the five-year history of the company that Tony was part of a physical angle on the show. In the spirit of Andy Kaufman and wanting to capitalize on the buzz, he kept the story going during multiple high-profile appearances during the NFL Draft. The story given was that he suffered multiple head and neck injuries, and doctors advised him not to travel. That until...

Years of rapidly accelerating momentum built to a head during the first week in April, when America’s two biggest wrestling promotions, World Wrestling Entertainment and All Elite Wrestling, pulled the trigger on some of their longest-gestating storylines to produce some electrifying television. Late last week, it was reported that Jennifer Pepperman would be exiting her long-time role as a senior writer and producer at the WWE last Thursday, “Monday Night Raw” general manager and producer Adam Pearce said of Pepperman’s exit from the WWE, “I have always appreciated your creativity, passion, and the countless time you’ve given to help me and others backstage over the years. I’ll miss your energy, but I know you’ll be great wherever you may roam. My gratitude forever!!!”
According to her IMDb page, Pepperman started her daytime career in 1998 as a coordinating producer at “One Life to Live.” In 2000, she joined“As The World Turns” as an associate director before becoming a full-time director at the series from 2004 until its conclusion in 2010. It’s Monday so you know what that means, it’s time for our weekly review of Aew: Rampage! This week’s show was broadcast from Uno Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana and featured Excalibur and Tony Schiavone on commentary. Now let’s get to the review…
Match #1: Top Flight (Dante & Darius Martin) def. Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) The following is courtesy of allelitewrestling.com:
Top Flight used tandem offense on Marq Quen. They isolated Quen in their corner. Darius swept out Quen’s leg and Dante hit Quen with a Ddt, demonstrating beautiful combo offense. Quen pulled a dropkick out of midair and then tagged in Isiah. Isiah rocked Darius with a stunner. Quen came in and drove Darius face first with a stomp. Quen rolled up Darius, holding the ropes, but Andretti caught him red handed and alerted the referee. Darius rocked Zay with...

Welcome to our review of this year’s Ring of Honor Final Battle pay-per-view, the latest Roh PPV under the auspices of Tony Khan’s ownership, which – despite not having a TV deal – has turned a tide this past year. So with that said, let’s see what went down…
Roh: Zero Hour Match #1: Taya Valkyrie def. Jazmin Allure The following is courtesy of ringofhonor.com:
Taya booted Jazmin and then tossed her across the ring with a straight onslaught. Allure fired back with a forearm. Taya placed Allure on the ropes and hit her with a sliding German Suplex. Taya’s years of experience were too much for Jazmin to handle. Taya superplexed Allure and then stomped Allure’s face, grabbing the pin in the process!
My Score: 2 out of 5 Match #2: The Von Erichs (Ross & Marshall) def. The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd) The following is courtesy of ringofhonor.

Ric Flair is getting into business with Aew.
Variety has learned exclusively that Flair’s Wooooo! Energy will become the exclusive energy drink of the professional wrestling promotion. Under the deal, during Aew show dates, select host venues will carry the drink at concession stands. It will also be stocked in the wrestlers’ locker rooms and will also be seen on the announcers’ desk during live broadcasts.
The Wooooo! Energy announcement is part of a multi-year deal Flair has signed with Aew. In an interview with Variety, Flair said that he has known Aew boss Tony Khan for nearly a decade, which made discussing such a deal easy.
“I just reached out to Tony,” Flair said. “Then Tony got back to me and he said he’d be interested in that. And I wasn’t selling myself. I was just selling energy drinks…And then Tony was thinking about Sting...

It’s a great time to be a wrestling fan. Unlike other sports, professional wrestling has no off-season. This means from the perspective of a fan, there is always content to watch. But sometimes, that content can be very hard to watch. Because what I watched on the 10/18th edition of Aew’s Dynamite was very hard to digest. And this is coming from a fan who has watched Disco Inferno wrestle in WCW.
Aew, founded in 2019 by Tony Khan, is the second-biggest wrestling promotion in the world. Aew has done some great things over the years, like getting a great deal from Warner Bros for a second show on TNT called Collision, which airs on Saturday nights. The promotion sold out Wembley Stadium a couple of months back. But with all the highs, there have been some lows.
Tony Khan has been rampaging on social media, making tweets that make zero sense.

WWE didn’t need to wait until Friday night to lay the smackdown on its employees, as mass layoffs were initiated on Thursday following the merger of the pro wrestling giant and UFC, led by Endeavor.
More than 100 employees — mostly from the WWE — got some sweet chin music this week that they were being released amid the move to cut costs in the Endeavor purchase. While not everybody will be a household name, there are still some major sports entertainers on the list. These include 19-year veteran Dolph Ziggler, a former WWE World Heavyweight Champion and Money in the Bank winner; Shelton Benjamin, who had one of the longest Intercontinental Championship reigns ever (putting him in the company of The Rock and Mr. Perfect); and the vastly underutilized Elias (we hope Ezekial still has a job at least…).

Hope you like fall/winter sports! We finally got some details on Max’s plan to stream live sports. Initial reports of the add-on package being free were correct — but for a limited time only.
The Max Live Bleacher Report (B/R) Sports tier will launch in the U.S. on October 5 and it will be free — for exactly 148 days. (It would be 147 if not for the coming leap year.)
The starting point is timed to give Max subscribers two days to download and install the add-on before Major League Baseball’s National League Division Series begins October 7. The NHL’s regular season begins three days later, and the NBA returns two weeks after that.
Come March 1, 2024, the sports add-on will cost $9.99 per month — just in time for live streams of the Men’s Division I NCAA Basketball Tournament, when March the lamb turns into March the lion. Yes, it’s Madness.

All Elite Wrestling could be coming to Max very soon. That’s according to a report from ComicBook.com, which cites Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast, who says that a deal between the wrestling promotion and Warner Bros. Discovery is currently in the works.
Nothing has been announced by Aew or Wbd, and there’s still a possibility that no deal gets done, however, it could mean next-day streams of Aew shows like “Dynamite,” “Rampage” and “Collision” head to Max, as well as Aew’s vast archive of past matches and other events. “Collision” and “Rampage” currently air on the Wbd-owned cable channel TNT, while “Dynamite” airs on TBS.

Everyone loves an underdog, but it’s possible nobody loves one more than Greg Whiteley. With Netflix hits “Cheer” and “Last Chance U,” the documentarian trained his eye on undergraduate athletes whose programs lack the resources or respect of a Big Ten institution. Each show made a compelling case for its subjects’ skill, tenacity and right to a bigger spotlight; “Cheer,” in particular, made stars of its protagonists, a charismatic squad of Texas students who performed death-defying stunts with a smile.
The second season of “Cheer” was forced to reckon with the fallout of its own success, taking some focus away from its namesake sport to address squad member Jerry Harris’ being sentenced to prison for soliciting sex from minors, as well as coach Monica Aldama’s stint on “Dancing With the Stars” and the uncomfortable transition from challenger to heavy favorite. Thankfully, Whiteley’s latest effort offers a fresh start.

Controversial pro wrestler Cm Punk (real name Phillip Brooks) has been fired by All Elite Wrestling following a backstage altercation last weekend at their biggest show of all time, “All In” at London’s Wembley Stadium. The promotion addressed the decision both in a statement released Saturday afternoon and in the opening of “Aew Collision” on Saturday evening, where Aew promoter Tony Khan gave a more in-depth and personal explanation of the decision.
Khan opened “Collision,” telling viewers, “Today I had to make one of the toughest decisions of my professional career: today I terminated Phil Brooks, Cm Punk, for cause. This stems from a backstage incident at ‘Aew All In’ last Sunday. The incident was regrettable, and it endangered people backstage. That includes the production staff, the people who help put the show on every week, innocent people who had nothing to do with it.”

A physical altercation occurred between Mma stars Cm Punk and Jack Perry during the All Elite Wrestling All-In match at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday night.
Reports circulated that the pair had disagreed when Perry suggested using “real glass” in a segment on Aew Collision. Cm Punk apparently approached Perry just moments before he was due to take on longtime rival Samoa Joe.
A fight broke out when both men began shoving each other and escalated when Cm Punk put Perry in a chokehold. It was reported that Perry was asked to leave Wembley Stadium and that Punk was told to remain backstage for the rest of the match.

All Elite Wrestling held their biggest show to date Sunday in London, England at Wembley Stadium, the international pay-per-view “All In.” Announcing a paid crowd of 81,035 fans, the promotion has stated that it believes this sets an all-time paid attendance record for professional wrestling, giving No. 2 wrestling company Aew another entry in the history books.
“Today is the most successful day in the history of Aew. It’s one of the most important days ever in the history of pro wrestling,” Aew owner Tony Khan said as he opened a post-show press conference.
At the same time, according to media reports, there was an apparent backstage altercation between wrestlers C.M. Punk and Jack Perry. Perry is the late actor Luke Perry’s son and until recently wrestled under the name “Jungle Boy.”
“Yes, there was an incident backstage before we went live on tonight’s show,” Khan said at the press conference.

Tony Khan was a lifelong pro wrestling fan when he founded All Elite Wrestling (Aew) in 2019 as CEO and president, looking to take on sports entertainment titan WWE.
The promotion quickly emerged as a powerhouse challenger, putting on regular pay-pay-view events and starting weekly TV shows later in 2019. After expanding its TV output beyond the two-hour Dynamite on Wednesdays with the hour-long Friday show Rampage, it added two hours of Collision on Saturdays this summer. The result: Aew now airs three weekly shows, a total of five hours, on Warner Bros. Discovery networks TBS and TNT in the U.S. That makes Khan, who also oversees the creative process at Aew as head of creative, a big TV producer.
In 2022, he also bought wrestling promotion Ring of Honor (Roh) from Sinclair, cementing his status as a pro wrestling mogul and business maverick.

My Thoughts: For those unaware what a “Royal Rampage” match is… well, due to the fact Rampage was taped at the same time as this week’s Blood and Guts episode of Dynamite the show had two rings. One red ring and one blue ring, both featuring different wrestlers taking part in two simultaneous “royal rumble” style matches. Which means the camera misses the majority of the action until the number of men in the ring is whittled down enough. It’s even worse than trying to follow a One ring Royal Rumble! Eventually...

But what kind of content would air on such a channel? If you are a longtime wrestling fan, you may be excited to see everything that an Aew Fast channel can offer.
In an interview with Variety last month, Aew CEO Tony Khan opened up about the “great opportunities” that the wrestling organization could explore with a Fast channel that would broadcast its archive content with intermittent ad breaks. All Elite Wrestling’s (Aew) Tony Khan believes “there could be great opportunities” in a free ad-supported streaming TV channel dedicated to the pro wrestling promotion that he founded.
In an interview with Variety Intelligence Platform’s senior media analyst Gavin Bridge as part of the Monaco Streaming Film Festival, Khan discussed the current state of Aew’s streaming offerings.
