Joy Leona Anderson
- Actress
- Producer
- Writer
Joy comes from a family of very talented musicians, story tellers, and creatives. With older brothers in the musical limelight, Joy felt left out of the excitement. She entered the Entertainment world by performing improvisational character acting through local theme parks in San Antonio, Texas. After five years, and as she gained friends in Entertainment, she continued performing through film and commercial roles, where she acted in and produced short films for competition. August 2019, Joy branched out into the Producer role in the San Antonio 48 Hour Film Project. In addition to being the sole producer, she appeared in her first on-screen speaking role as Ava the Virtual Matchmaker in her short film "Love Lynk". "Love Lynk" took home three acting awards and a fourth for makeup and costuming, with Joy receiving runner-up for Best Supporting Actress. She continued to pursue more training in improvisation and added experience in interactive improvisational comedy shows with fellow actors and her stand-up comedian friends, which she continues to perform in today.
With ever-arching goals of positively influencing the general public through entertainment and a caring spirit, Joy is writing film and influence scripts, and also a biography, in 2023 for future releases not yet announced. Joy's youthful personality and appearance is credited to positivity, loving heart, and faith in something bigger than herself.
Joy has met adversity head on in several life-altering ordeals in her lifetime, to include surviving cancer, homelessness, injury, and abandonment. With her children and grandchildren in the forefront of her mind, she perseveres daily and continues to find new ways to impact the world around her; enjoying every minute that life has to offer. In addition to contributing to the Entertainment world and her personal interests, Joy is a real estate agent and has been an avid volunteer since childhood.
Fun facts about Joy's family: Her mother Linda played the piano in her small town church from age 5 until she married, and continues to be spoken of fondly by everyone who knows her as a beautiful pianist. Joy's dad Jimmy regularly sat the kids down to enjoy family music time where they would take their turns shouting out "White Lightning!" or "Guitarzan!" as he played his red 1966 Silvertone guitar. Joy's five brothers are also extremely talented musically, with moderate fame following them. Her brother Terry, her polar opposite, performed in San Antonio in popular hard rock bands such as Thin Ice, JudgeMental, and LoKey over a 30+ year span, getting to meet musicians along the way such as Megadeath, Pantera, and Rob Halford of Judas Priest. He is a talented voiceover artist in 2023, lending his voice to recognizable characters in popular video games and commercials. Her eldest brother Arthur (Arty) performed for a short time in local bands such as Alchemy and AxeMinister, with AxeMinister also being his musical pseudo name. For decades he merely practiced hours each day to stay sharp and for personal enjoyment, with inspirations such as Jan Akkerman, Robin Trower, Dave Murray, and Brian Robertson. Today he plays in several local bands and with his girlfriend Amie across the Dallas, Texas area, with increasing popularity and demand. With big shoes to fill like her parents and brothers, Joy has risen to the challenge by bringing laughter and cheer to thousands of San Antonians and visitors alike in local Entertainment performances since 2014.
