Actress Mirrah Foulkes makes her directorial debut with “Judy & Punch,” a violent and revisionist tale that looks more like “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” goes to the puppet show than your classic Punch and Judy story. The period piece, which launched at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2019 and was followed by a robust tour on the festival circuit, finally hits theaters in the U.S. on April 24, courtesy of Samuel Goldwyn Films.
Set in an anarchic town known as Seaside, which happens to be nowhere near the sea, married puppeteers Judy (Mia Wasikowska) and Punch (Damon Herriman) are struggling to resurrect their marionette show. The show is a hit thanks to Judy’s deft puppeteering skills but due to Punch’s jealousy-fueled ambition — and his tendency to hit the bottle too hard — the show is thrust into tragedy. Foulkes’ updated take on the classic 16th-century puppet show,...

Two men step over a fallen branch in a damp, overgrown wood. The larger of the two stops to examine a framed picture of a woman in a wedding dress before the pair unzip their trousers and urinate on her image. Sufficiently drained, and with a look of utter seriousness on his face, the Beta pulls out a handkerchief and dabs the tip of his Alpha’s penis dry. Leaving the picture drowned in piss, they move out of the woods into a clearing and see South London open out before them. I should mention at this point that nary a word has been spoken between the pair at this point, and the rest of the film will not containing anything we would conventionally term dialogue.

The debut feature of actor Steve Oram (Sightseers, TV’s Glue), Aaaaaaaah! stars Julian Barratt, Toyah Willcox, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Steve Oram, Lucy Honigman, Tom Meeten and Sean Reynard. The supporting cast include Noel Fielding, Holli Dempsey, Shelley Longworth, Alice Lowe, Tony Way and Waen Shepherd.
Alpha Male, Smith and his Beta, Keith, make a move to take over a local community. They hook up with restless Female, Denise, igniting a deadly feud in which emotions run high and deep-seated grudges re-surface amongst the tribe. Are we not men? Or are we simply beasts? Steve Oram’s debut feature is a celluloid primal sceam in which the entire cast speak in grunts and gibberish – an anarchic, hilarious, disturbing and touching look at the human condition.
Aaaaaaaah!, written and directed by Steve Oram, produced by Andy Starke and executive produced by Ben Wheatley, will have it’s world premiere at FrightFest on...

The Ex-pm, a six-part half hour comedy created, written by and starring Shaun Micallef, began filming in Melbourne today. Micallef plays Australia's third longest-serving Prime Minister, Andrew Dugdale. He dined with Presidents and Kings, hosted world summits and changed the lives of millions of his fellow Australians.
But now he's retired, the not-so-elder statesman has far too much time on his hands and no one to waste it on.
The ensemble cast includes Nikki Wendt, Kate Jenkinson, Lucy Honigman, Nicholas Bell, Francis Greenslade, Jackson Tozer, Ming-Zhu Hii and. veteran John Clarke.
Sian Davies (Offspring, Mr & Mrs Murder) directs. Nick Murray (House of Hancock, Stupid Stupid Man), who is producing for Cjz, says: .It.s a rare pleasure with such a great cast and Shaun.s scripts are wonderful..
Micallef says, .I am very much looking forward to stepping in front of the cameras for my new series The Ex-pm. Hopefully...

Sigthseers' Steve Oram will unleash his Ape-ified Romeo & Juliet epic upon us sometime in 2015, and today we've got this splendid poster to ogle over.Shot last spring, Aaaaaaaah! sees The Mighty Boosh's Julian Barratt and Green Wing's Julian Rhind-Tutt playing rival clan leaders, with Oram's regular comedic partner Tom Meeten and Australian actress Lucy Honigman also starring. When Todd reported on the film over a year ago it was stated that it would be performed with no discernible human dialog, with the actors going full ape. Now that the film is nearing screens, this one has certainly spiked on the ol' anticipation-meter. ...

Though the series opens like any murder mystery show, with a bloody corpse and a fleeing woman, Mr. and Mrs. Murder quickly reveals itself to be aiming for something slightly different. With its jazzy opening theme, played over a comic book-style credits sequence, and its introduction of our heroes, husband and wife Charlie (Shaun Micallef) and Nicola (Kat Stewart) Buchanan, the series is something of a riff on the Thin Man series, offering up a Nick and Nora Charles for the modern age.
The Buchanans are crime scene cleaners that double as detectives, sussing out murders wherever they are called to clean up a death. They are underdogs, the guys that show up after police and forensics have had their shot and still manage to solve the case first. With the help of their niece Jess (Lucy Honigman), they use the evidence, and their way with suspects, to catch the bad guys.
