The first trailer has been unveiled for Luke Willis’ documentary “Lady Like,” which will have its world premiere as the closing film of BFI Flare London Lgbtqia+ Film Festival.
The film follows the story of London-born, San Francisco-based drag queen Lady Camden, Aka Rex Wheeler, as she is catapulted into the spotlight on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 14. Lady Camden struggles to manage the demands of her new international fame, while Rex is forced to come to terms with the troubling childhood he left behind in Camden which drove him to so desperately seek joy, fantasy and escape through the performing arts.
“Lady Like” is the first feature film by Willis, whose previous credits include shorts “Pool Boy” and “The Summer House,” both selected at previous BFI Flare editions. Willis produced the film along with Cookie Walukas (“Selah and the Spades”).
“I still remember the first time I met Rex and his infectiously joyful energy.

RuPaul’s Drag Race has entertained audiences around the world since its debut in 2009, and the series has only continued to explode all over the globe with international spin-offs. Every episode of Drag Race culminates in a lip sync battle between two (or more) queens to some beloved hit songs. But throughout all those years, Beyoncé songs were notably absent from the lip syncs. In recent years, however, Bey has become a more common lip sync artist.

Beyoncé has been a part of popular culture for over two decades, first as a member of Destiny’s Child and later as a solo star. But despite her worldwide fame and hallowed place in the LGBTQ community, Beyoncé songs were notably absent from RuPaul’s Drag Race for many years.

The majority of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 15 contained shorter episodes, going from 90 to 60 minutes, including commercials. However, that didn’t stop the drag reality television competition series from packing its runtime with both talent and drama. RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 15 first introduced the world to “metalgate,” but episode 12 is bringing “Heavengate” to the forefront.

Episode 6, “Old Friends Gold,” tasked the queens with writing and performing lyrics as old lady girl groups. The contestants had to determine which group would perform which song, which included country, metal, and hip-hop genres.
Things got spicy when drama broke out between two groups fighting over the metal song, which became known as “metalgate.” Luxx Noir London, Marcia Marcia Marcia, Mistress Isabelle Brooks, and Salina EsTitties formed one of the groups that desired the song, while Aura Mayari, Malaysia Babydoll Foxx,...

RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 15 contestants Sugar and Spice entered the Werk Room as twins, but that didn’t change the fact that they had to compete against one another. Nevertheless, they frequently remained at the hip, except for when they had to part ways during group challenges. Sugar and Spice opened up about some drama involving Marcia Marcia Marcia that unfolded on the RuPaul’s Drag Race main stage that the world didn’t get to see.

The number is up for another queen in the competition.
Performing in girl group challenges can make or break a queen's journey for the crown. The latest performance on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 Episode 6 was no exception.
Some queens sizzled, some fizzled, and many played it safe. Sound familiar? It was another rushed week in the Werk Room.
Did "Old Friends Gold" even have a moment to breathe?
You could feel the pressure of the one-hour runtime during the pacing of this round. Every segment and runway look was rushed through in a frenzy. We could barely enjoy the fun before the editing had to take us to the next bit.
We've chatted in the past about how the shorter episodes have taken away the fun of RuPaul's Drag Race. Sure, the series started with one-hour episodes, but it naturally evolved to a longer runtime to showcase more of the queens and the competition.
