Earlier this year, Jennifer Hudson performed “The Times They Are A Changin’” at March for Our Lives in Washington D.C. and talked about losing her mother, brother and nephew to gun violence in 2008. “To me, the saddest thing is no one ever reacts until it happens to them, and then it’s too late,” she said.
Soon after, Hudson released “I’ll Fight,” an anthem about pressing on in spite of hurt, anger and repression. The song was written by Diane Warren (whose dozens of hits include Cher’s...

Just a few years ago, many people wouldn't have known who Nick Grimshaw was. That all changed in July 2012 when he was announced as Chris Moyles's successor on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show.
Grimshaw's meteoric rise continues, as he was confirmed earlier this week as a new judge on arguably TV's biggest show, The X Factor.
But who exactly is the floppy-haired fellow, and how did he become such an omnipresent household name? Below we chart the rise and rise (and rise) of Nick Grimshaw.
1984: It's Grim - up north
Nicholas Peter Andrew Grimshaw is born at St Mary's Hospital in Moss Side, Manchester on August 14, 1984. His two older siblings are brother Adam and sister Jane.
Of his dad he says, "He was always on my case. But my dad's from no money, no dad, the worst vibe. Though I don't really know what he did for a...

Is Florence Welch hugging herself?
The Florence + The Machine front woman is either sharing intimate scenes with her lookalike or -- thanks to the magic of editing -- is face-to-face with herself.
Photos: Double Take! Celebrity Lookalikes
The rock band debuted their new music video for "How Big How Blue How Beautiful" on Tuesday. This came to the delight of their fans, who've been waiting for a new album from the band since 2011's Ceremonials.
In the video -- directed by Tabitha Denholm and Vincent Haycock -- Welch, 28, is seen onstage of an empty outdoor arena wrestling, dancing, hugging and mirroring herself ...or her lookalike rather.

"How Big How Blue How Beautiful" will appear on Florence + The Machines' upcoming album, out this year. During a listening party in London on Monday, the group also performed several new songs also thought to be on their album. Among those were...

Once upon a time, when The Playlist was a fledgling blog, we had a semi-regular column called Videodrome, which looked at the world of music videos. While we focus mostly on movies, we've always maintained an interest in the places where they cross over with music, and the promo world has provided us with directors from Spike Jonze and David Fincher to Michael Bay and Francis Lawrence, as well as occasionally featured big name stars.
Between one thing and another, we let the column lapse a little, but music videos have by no means become less important: the month began with one promo veteran, Nima Nourizadeh, making his directorial debut with "Project X," while the last few weeks have seen Jake Gyllenhaal get murderous in a clip for The Shoes; Lance Bangs roll with Odd Future in the fun "Oldie" and Brett Ratner become attached to a project about the history of MTV.

'Never Let Me Go' clip finds Florence Welch cavorting with 'Twilight' star Jamie Campbell Bower, with chilling results.

Jamie Campbell Bower in Florence and the Machine's video for "Never Let Me Go"

The last time we saw Florence Welch, she was plummeting through the New York City skyline in the spooky (and quite possibly Illuminati-sponsored) video for "No Light, No Light" ... now, she's back, with an equally ethereal (and vaguely "Twilight"-endorsed) new clip, for "Never Let Me Go."
The video features Flo and Twilighter Jamie Campbell Bower exchanging smoldering glances — and subsequently cavorting — at an eerie ice rink (couples' skate!), all while Welch slowly melts away into a viscous pool of fluid. Helmed by director/DJ Tabitha Denholm, who previously directed Florence's "Cosmic Love" and "Rabbit Heart" videos, "Never Let Me Go" is certainly visually arresting, but it also works on another level: Namely,...
