Although Red Dead Redemption 2 may not have bagged the 2018 Game of the Year award, it still continues to hold a special place in players’ hearts with its remarkably detailed open world, beautifully written story, and graphics that hold up well even today.
With over 60 million copies sold, the game’s commercial success has left many fans wondering about the possibility of a third entry in the series, which, according to Arthur Morgan voice actor Roger Clark, is pretty much a guarantee.
Red Dead Redemption 3 Is Happening, But Not Anytime Soon A still from Red Dead Redemption 2 | Rockstar
Speaking with IGN, Clark expressed a strong belief in another mainline Red Dead Redemption title arriving sometime in the future:
I would have thought that was obvious though. Wouldn’t you? And it’s not like I have any insider information whatsoever, but of course there’s going to be another Red Dead.

Love it or hate it, it’s hard to deny that Grand Theft Auto VI has been one of the most anticipated video games of the last decade. Grand Theft Auto VI, the latest installment in the mega-selling video game franchise, will be released in fall 2025, parent company Take-Two Interactive has confirmed.
The release news put a narrower range on the release, which had previously been projected to be sometime in calendar 2025. The update came as Take-Two released better-than-expected earnings. Despite the upbeat financials, the GTA news prompted a mild sell-off in the company’s shares because the game’s release will come after fiscal 2025. Due to the timing, the company lowered its full-year forecasts. Shares fell 3% in after-hours trading to around $142.
“We are highly confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience, and our expectations for the commercial impact of the title continue to increase,” Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said.

In the past, fans have seen many video game franchises getting adapted into a TV show or movie. These expansions are often ways to capitalize through these franchises and that’s exactly what rapper Eminem tried to do with the Grand Theft Auto video game series. During his prime years, the rapper was reportedly keen on making a movie based on the franchise with director Tony Scott after the release of Grand Theft Auto III.
A still from GTA 3
Kirk Ewing, a popular name in the gaming industry, explained in a podcast how Eminem was ready to invest in this idea in the mid-2000s. However, the co-creator of the GTA series, Sam Houser, rejected the idea. After all these years, there hasn’t been much information about a GTA movie but Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, explained in 2019 that they could create a movie based on the...

Gearbox Entertainment was acquired by the Swedish game company Embracer Group in 2021. Recently, rumors were that it was planning to sell Gearbox as part of the restructuring plan that has seen the company cut nearly 1400 jobs and shut down studios such as Saints Row developer Volition and Square Enix Montreal, just to name a few.
It was reported yesterday that the company is divesting Gearbox to 2K Games and GTA developer Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive. The companies have now confirmed this and revealed that Take-Two has acquired the company for $460 million and will own almost all the franchises from the renowned developer, as well as other new projects.

The deal comes as Lionsgate is releasing Eli Roth’s theatrical adaptation of Borderlands in August.
Take-Two said it expects the transaction “to deepen its successful relationship with Gearbox Entertainment and to provide increased financial benefits through a fully-integrated operational structure.” Gearbox’s extensive IP portfolio includes full ownership of the popular Borderlands and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands franchises, as well as Homeworld, Risk of Rain, Brothers in Arms, Duke Nukem. Cate Blanchett’s Lilith travels to a planet she hates to find a massive treasure hidden in a vault in the first trailer for Lionsgate’s Borderlands. Lilith can’t do the treasure hunt alone and is forced to team up with an odd assortment of people on a planet that has an actual gully made of piss.

Filming wrapped on director Eli Roth‘s adaptation of the Borderlands video game series from Gearbox and 2K way back in June of 2021. A year and a half later, Deadpool director Tim Miller had to step in to handle the project’s two weeks of reshoots because Roth had the chance to finally – after sixteen years – make a feature based on the Thanksgiving faux trailer he put together for the Quentin Tarantino / Robert Rodriguez collaboration Grindhouse. The Borderlands reshoots have been completed, Thanksgiving has come and gone, and Lionsgate is now gearing up to finally release Borderlands into the world on August 9th. With just over five months to go until that date arrives, Lionsgate has unveiled a trailer for the film, and you can check that out in the embed above.

Cate Blanchett is back in a wig and a franchise, following her iconic “Thor: Ragnarok” campiness. The Oscar winner and “Tár” lead actress transforms into vigilante Lilith for Eli Roth’s star-studded “Borderlands” video-game adaptation.
Blanchett’s character is an infamous outlaw who returns to her home planet of Pandora on a mission to track down the missing daughter of the universe’s top leader, Atlas (Edgar Ramírez). Lilith enlists former elite mercenary Roland (Kevin Hart), pre-teen demolitionist Tiny Tina (“Barbie” breakout Ariana Greenblatt), her bodyguard Krieg (Florian Munteanu), mad scientist Tannis (Jamie Lee Curtis), and robot Claptrap (Jack Black) to help.
“These unlikely heroes must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power,” the synopsis reads. “The fate of the universe could be in their hands – but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other.

As one of the most decorated game studios on the planet, Rockstar Games’ ability to create mega-successful franchises is second to none. With five iconic GTA games and two Red Dead Redemption games under its belt, Rockstar is set to send shockwaves throughout the industry yet again next year with the highly-anticipated GTA 6.

Publisher Take-Two is making plans for “cost reduction” across the company, but maintains that it isn’t thinking about rushing GTA 6 to release to boost profits.
When developer Rockstar finally released the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 in early December 2023, the response was so rapturous – as we wrote at the time, a mix of tears, excitement, and philosophical musings on death – that we can only wonder how fans will erupt when the finished game emerges.
GTA 6 is currently loosely scheduled for release in what publisher Take-Two calls “calendar 2025”. And when asked whether there was any chance of a more specific date being announced in an 8th February earnings call, the publisher’s boss Strauss Zelnick provided a firm response.
“We’re seeking perfection,” Zelnick said, as reported by Gamespot. “When we feel we’ve optimized creatively, that’s the time to release.”

It’s hard to believe that Grand Theft Auto 5 released in 2013. That’s two entire console generations ago. In the time since then, Rockstar Games has only released one major new game, Red Dead Redemption 2. To say we are overdue for a Grand Theft Auto 6 would be an understatement. Apparently, Rockstar Games finally agrees.
On November 8, Rockstar announced it would release a trailer for GTA 6 this December. The video’s release will coincide with the studio’s 25th anniversary (though the exact release date isn’t confirmed as of this time). At long last, fans will finally (hopefully) learn what storylines, characters, and world they spent the last decade anticipating. Or at least they would if the internet wasn’t already flooded with rumors and leaks surrounding the game. While it’s difficult to sift through all the hearsay, here is what we think we know so far.

It’s been over a year since audiences last heard anything about the “Bioshock” film, based on the popular video game series that “blends sci-fi and horror to pose unique existential and societal questions that reshaped how game stories could be told – all amidst pulse-pounding action gameplay that rewards sharp shooting, clever planning, and lethal improvisation,” according to its official synopsis.
But that’s because, much like everything in Hollywood, it’s in a holding pattern until the dueling SAG-AFTRA/WGA strikes are resolved. “We are, like everyone else in town, waiting for these strikes to resolve, hopefully in a way that honors the efforts of artists, in order to get back to it,” Green told TheWrap while promoting his latest film, “Haunting in Venice.” “When we left things, everyone on all sides, were all very excited to keep going and hoping we can get back to work as soon as possible.

Filming wrapped on director Eli Roth‘s adaptation of the Borderlands video game series from Gearbox and 2K in June of last year. Seven months later, Deadpool director Tim Miller had to step in to handle the project’s two weeks of reshoots because Roth had the chance to finally – after seventeen years – make a feature based on the Thanksgiving faux trailer he put together for the Quentin Tarantino / Robert Rodriguez collaboration Grindhouse. Roth’s Thanksgiving slasher is scheduled to reach theatres on November 17, 2023, the Friday before the Thanksgiving holiday. Now Deadline has broken the news that Borderlands will reach theatres about eight months later, on August 2, 2024. So we still have a year to wait before we’ll be able to watch this one.
We had heard that The Last of Us showrunner Craig Mazin wrote the screenplay for Borderlands, but according to Deadline the final script was actually written by Roth and Joe Crombie.

The nonprofit Bipoc accelerator Rideback Rise, launched last July by Dan Lin’s production company Rideback has today named film producer Tracey Bing as its Head of Content, appointing former charity: water exec Sabrina Pourmand as its Founding Executive Director, and adding Panda Express’ Chief Brand Officer, Andrea Cherng, to its Board of Directors.
These developments come as Rideback Rise looks to further its mission of advancing racial equity through the development of market-ready mainstream film, television, digital and audio entertainment. Take-Two Interactive saw its net bookings fall below expectations during its fiscal 2023 third quarter as consumers shifted holiday spending toward “established blockbuster franchises” and titles with promotional discounts, the company said on Monday.
For the three months ending on Dec. 31, Take-Two brought in 1.41 billion in revenue but reported a net operating loss at 172.9 million. Net bookings, which reflects products and services sold digitally and physically, rose 60 percent year-over-year to 1.38 billion during the quarter but fell short of company forecasts of bookings between 1.41 billion to 1.46 billion. During the quarter, titles like NBA 2K23, Grand Theft Auto Online and Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online and Words With Friends contributed most to the bookings.
As a result of an “environment that is in many ways more challenging than we anticipated,” Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said, the company is lowering its fiscal 2023 bookings guidance to 5.2 billion to 5.25 billion,...

Roth handed over the reins on two weeks of reshoots to his pal Miller, because he has to get going with Thanksgiving, the horror film based on a mock trailer that Roth made for the Quentin Tarantino & Robert Rodriguez Grindhouse film. Roth has not been fired, despite a flurry of speculative reports to the contrary.

“Would you kindly watch Netflix’s ‘BioShock’ movie?”
The streamer is teaming up with 2K and Take-Two Interactive to adapt the popular video game series as a film, details of which were announced Tuesday. Vertigo Entertainment and Take-Two will produce the movie, which does not have a director or talent attached as of yet.
Set across multiple dystopian and visionary landscapes gone wrong, the “BioShock” series blends sci-fi and horror to pose unique existential and societal questions that reshaped how game stories could be told — all amidst pulse-pounding action gameplay that rewards sharp shooting, clever planning and lethal improvisation.
The first “BioShock” released in 2007 to widespread critical acclaim. Gamers played as Jack, the lone survivor of a plane crash over the Atlantic Ocean in the 1960s. He discovers an underwater dystopia called Rapture, which was created by an eccentric business magnate Andrew Ryan. Rapture had seen better days, and Jack...

Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive’s recent acquisition of Zynga has fans worried (or excited) that Grand Theft Auto 6 could be designed with a mobile port in mind.
For those who haven’t heard, Take-Two recently announced an astonishing $12.7 billion acquisition of Zynga Inc.: a social and mobile game developer best known for casual gaming hits like FarmVille and Words with Friends.
There is obviously quite a lot to say about what seems to be the most expensive acquisition in video game history, but the first thing we should make very clear to everyone is that Zynga is essentially a money machine that wears a game developer mask. Zynga’s consistent collection of relatively low-cost games generates hundreds of millions (sometimes billions) of dollars a year in revenue. Of course, much of that revenue comes from microtransactions (which is absolutely a point we’ll return to in just a bit).
That being the case,...

Take-Two Interactive, publisher of video games including Grand Theft Auto, is acquiring Farmville maker Zynga for $12.7 billion, creating a bulked-up gaming giant.
Under the deal, Take-Two will acquire all outstanding shares of Zynga in a cash-and-stock transaction representing a 64% premium on Zynga’s stock price as of last Friday. Zynga shares, which have been in a slump over the past year, rocketed almost 50% before the opening bell.
Take-Two is led by Strauss Zelnick, a veteran media and tech executive who became Zynga’s chairman and CEO and the firm’s largest shareholder in a 2007 takeover. The well-connected exec took a turn in the traditional spotlight in 2018, serving as chairman of CBS Corp. and helping steer the media company through its Les Moonves travails en route to its reunion with Viacom.

Exclusive: Edgar Ramirez is set to play Atlas in Eli Roth’s adaptation of the bestselling video game Borderlands for Lionsgate. He joins Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, Haley Bennett, and Jack Black. In the game, Atlas is a business titan and arms manufacturer, and the most powerful person in the universe.
“What an incredible honor to have an actor of Edgar’s caliber, talent, and charisma playing opposite Cate Blanchett and this remarkable cast,” Roth said. “Atlas has to be a truly magnetic personality, someone with charisma and charm but that air of menace underneath it all. I’ve been a fan of Edgar’s since his early performances and he continues to amaze me with each dramatic turn. We want to create something wild, fun, and very different from anything they’ve seen from Edgar before. I am so, so excited to work with him.

Joseph Ianniello, the former acting CBS CEO, denied claims of unjust enrichment and other allegations in a shareholder lawsuit contesting the 2019 merger of Viacom and CBS.
The suit in Delaware Chancery Court largely targets majority owner Shari Redstone for allegedly stacking the Viacom board with allies and jamming the deal through against the best interests of CBS shareholders. Ianniello, who left shortly after the merger closed, walked away with a $125 million package – the result of several revisions of his compensation and severance agreements that the suit alleges were aimed at garnering his support for a deal it claims he initially opposed. The payout put him among media’s most highly compensated executives for 2019.
“There was no rational business justification or purpose for increasing the financial benefits that would be paid to Ianniello when the CBS Board, management and controllers all knew, even before the Merger talks restarted, that Ianniello would...
