There are several Star Wars projects in the works right now. One is a new film by Mangold set thousands of years in the past, and another is a project by Waititi that he claims will upset fans. Somewhere in between is a new Rey movie called “Star Wars: Episode X,” tentatively titled “New Jedi Order,” which is closely tied to its storyline.
Announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023, this new movie focuses on Rey’s journey after “The Rise of Skywalker.” Directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, it follows Rey as she tries to rebuild the Jedi Order. Originally, Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson were supposed to write it, but Steven Knight took over. The story is set 15 years after “Rise of Skywalker,” exploring the galaxy after the war and the fall of the First Order, with the Jedi facing challenges. Kathleen Kennedy revealed that Rey is fulfilling her promise to Luke by rebuilding the Jedi Order,...

Originally envisioned as a British mockumentary spin-off starring Ricky Gervais and co-created by Steven Knight, The Office soon became one of the most popular sitcoms in history. Television fans today know that The Office is one of the most popular sitcoms in history, and while both the British and American iterations are over, the franchise is far from being dead. We have recently reported that a spin-off series was in the works with Greg Daniels returning, but while information about the spin-off had been scarce at the time, we finally have some important updates about the plot of the spin-off, which is going to be set in the same universe.

It's 2024 and one of the best British television personalities, Steven Knight, is in business like never before! Yes, admittedly, his projects these days are not as critically acclaimed as Peaky Blinders, but they always boast a high level of production and, of course, an excellent cast, which has never been wrong with Knight's TV series.
Last year's All the Light We Cannot See delighted us with the talent of young actors like Louis Hofmann and Aria Mia Loberti, as well as Hollywood colossi Hugh Laurie and Mark Ruffalo, while this March the BBC released This Town, led by the excellent British cast of Levi Brown, Jordan Bolger, Ben Rose and Eve Austin.
And the star of the new series, which is now streaming on Hulu, is none other than Elisabeth Moss, along with other equally stellar cast members that we will talk about below. Although the show has failed to impress critics so far,...

The Veil is a spy thriller series created by Peaky Blinders and Taboo‘s Steven Knight. The FX miniseries follows the relationship between two women working as spies as they travel from Istanbul to Paris and London, as one of them tries to expose a secret that the other one is hiding. If the secret is not exposed thousands of lives will be potentially in danger.
While The Veil is starting slowly, it doesn’t mean it is not building up to something incredibly thrilling and intensely dramatic. The premiere of The Veil is certainly setting up a story that could be entertaining to watch and if you are also on board to watch the series like I am, then here are the dates new episodes will be available.

It’s rare to find a star whose taste you can trust beyond their performance; the kind of actor who’s proven to be as discerning in their projects’ quality as they are in choosing rewarding individual roles. There simply aren’t that many Julia Louis-Dreyfuses or Carrie Coons out there, with either impeccable résumés or a Hall of Fame-worthy batting average. But Elisabeth Moss is among them.
As a TV lead, she’s steered some of the modern era’s greatest programs: seven masterful seasons of “Mad Men,” two staggering seasons of “Top of the Lake,” one stirring season of “The Handmaid’s Tale” (and a few more she carried on her back). Even her single misfire is minor: The 2022 Apple TV+ series “Shining Girls” is more intriguing and better than its (lack of) recognition. Plus, it arrived amid a smattering of strong film work that befit her premium brand.

In the new FX drama The Veil, a colleague of British spy Imogen Salter pleads with her to change strategy on a new undercover assignment. “Please don’t speak to the real me,” she replies. “It is extremely unhelpful.”
The Veil repeatedly tries to figure out where the line exists between this persona and the real her, whose name isn’t even Imogen. The problem is that the version of the series about “Imogen” is vastly more entertaining, but the show mostly seems interested in her true identity.

After six dramatic seasons the Irish gang series “Peaky Blinders” came to a close in 2022. Something of a sleeper hit at first, the series seemed to take off during the pandemic when it was on Netflix. Its popularity was arguably at a zenith right as it ended, so series creator Steven Knight envisioned a feature film to top it all off in a big send-off.

Cillian Murphy will be returning for the new 28 Years Later trilogy of films – but, and look away if you don’t want to know, his involvement isn’t straightforward.
Ever since it was revealed back in February that we’d be getting another film in the 28 Days Later series, the good news tap hasn’t turned off.
Danny Boyle and Alex Garland are back to reprise their creative partnership of director and writer. Cillian Murphy – the star of the original film – publicly declared that he was making himself ‘available’ and if all of that wasn’t good enough, we then heard that no less than Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ralph Fiennes would lead the cast for the new film.
Now, thanks to a report from Jeff Sneider (via World Of Reel), we’ve got an insight regarding Cillian Murphy’s involvement.

Steven Knight’s Peaky Blinders has captivated audiences worldwide with the tumultuous world of the Shelby family, as they navigated the treacherous landscape of gang warfare and political intrigue. Loosely based on the real-life urban youth gang of the same name, the series incorporates elements from historical figures and addresses prevalent themes such as anti-Irish sentiment.

Daisy Ridley shot to fame as the leading protagonist Rey in Star Wars’ sequel trilogy. She shared screen space with newcomers Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, and John Boyega, as well as Star Wars veterans such as Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford in the films. The films were divisive in their responses, with creator George Lucas himself not being a fan.
After Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, which ended Rey’s arc, Ridley has been keeping busy with other projects and has also begun a career as an executive producer. However, she will be returning as Rey in an upcoming Star Wars film. Ridley mentioned that she almost manifested a Rey-centered film right before meeting with LucasFilm CEO Kathleen Kennedy.

We now have a shoot date for the long-awaited ‘end to this chapter’ of the beloved Birmingham-based crime saga, Peaky Blinders. September!
Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has confirmed that the Peaky Blinders film will go into production in September. We’ve known since the beginning of this year that a 2024 shoot was the aim but given that Knight and the project’s star, Cillian Murphy are both rather busy people, nobody was exactly sure where they’d fit the project in.
We now have an answer to that question. Speaking with The NME, Knight has confirmed that “it’s gonna happen this September” and added that he’s doing final tweaks on the script. He also added: “We’re there. We’ve got everything sorted, we’ve got all the commitments we need, we are ready to go” which certainly sounds like a final confirmation to us.

Steven Knight has been round the block, and the British writer-creator of the iconic series “Peaky Blinders” knew when he was hired to adapt the novel “All the Light We Cannot See” as a four-part Netflix limited series that the primary challenge would essentially be to avoid trying to fix something that wasn’t broken. The 2014 book by author Anthony Doerr had not only been a runaway bestseller but also earned Doerr the Pulitzer Prize, and Knight had no intention of compromising its brilliance while writing the series. “It wasn’t ever a thought in my head to say, ‘Ok, I’m going to impose myself on this’,” he says. “It was actually quite the opposite. For me, as far as possible, it was more, ‘Let’s let this horse ride, let it run the way it is, where you feel as if you need to do something, then do something…...

The show looks to offer some more thrilling drama work from its highly decorated lead Elisabeth Moss, including a convincing British accent, some intense fighting sequences (at least one stunt caused Moss to fracture two of her vertebrae), and a chameleonic array of character faces. But is this new international spy series based on a true story? Here’s a look at what we know about the show so far. Is The Veil based on a true story? While some elements of the story are certainly plucked from real life — for example, Western worries about the potential for terrorist attacks and inter-agency disagreements — The Veil is an original story written by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders). So no, it is not based on a true story. The concept, however, came from executive producer Denise Di Novi,...

The campaign to save one of the UK’s oldest working cinemas, the Electric Birmingham, has ramped up, with Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, Succession star Brian Cox and Homeland actor and Rada president David Harewood all throwing their weight behind the campaign to save the cinema.
The cinema dates back to 1909, and was built in a converted taxi rank in Station Street. Kevin Markwick bought the cinema in 2021. The building’s 88-year lease has now come to an end, and the cinema screened its last film on February 29. Fears are swirling that a property developer will demolish a significant...

“Part of being a spy is being a shapeshifter,” Elisabeth Moss told us when she and executive producer Denise di Novi stopped by TV Insider’s interview suite at the Television Critics Association press tour to discuss their new spy thriller, The Veil, written by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders). Being able to slip into different identities is something Moss could relate to in her character, fearless British MI6 agent Imogen Salter. “She’s all these different people, and when she’s being that person, she’s not lying. She’s telling the truth. She’s an actor. I know exactly who this person is.” Salter is trying to stop a terrorist attack on a major American city and must get information from Adilah El Idrissi (Yumna Marwan), who could just be the world’s most dangerous woman. Their game of cat and mouse plays out from Istanbul to Paris to London.

Plot: Explores the surprising and fraught relationship between two women who play a deadly game of truth and lies on the road from Istanbul to Paris and London. One woman has a secret, the other a mission to reveal it before thousands of lives are lost. In the shadows, mission controllers at the CIA and French Dgse must put differences aside and work together to avert potential disaster.
Review: Since her breakout role in Mad Men as Peggy Olsen, Elisabeth Moss has turned in stellar performance after performance. With The Handmaid’s Tale and The Invisible Man, Moss has shown her range in playing strong characters in distinct situations and genres. Still, her latest project, The Veil, puts her into a role that we would commonly expect to see from male actors in action-heavy projects. There’s an intriguing show somewhere buried within the mysterious shrouds of “The Veil,” the new FX international spy drama from creator/writer Steven Knight (“Peaky Blinders”), that’s just a little too slippery for its own good. Truthfully, it’s there front and center from the start, a series about shapeshifting spies that lose their sense of identity and self because of all the surreptitious double lives they are leading, a strong concept.

The Veil is another example of why we are in the golden age of brilliant female characters on screen. These strong, smart, and cunning female characters own the screen and set them ablaze. It just so happens that many can be found on FX. A network that celebrates edgy and innovative storytelling, with great female roles at the series center.
Often, these roles subvert female stereotypes. You have Anna Sawai’s brilliant performance in Shōgun, one of the greatest roles in television history, who gives a thoughtful, sumptuous, and cunning performance. Then, last year, in A Murder at the End of the World, Emma Corrin brought to life one of the most complex characters on television in recent memory.

We meet Elisabeth Moss’ Portia in the first scene of FX’s new Hulu drama The Veil, striding confidently through a busy international airport, stiletto heels precariously high, her mouth a gash of crimson lipstick. She’s meeting a shady businessman named Tomas, and they toast to a transaction successfully made. But several seconds later, Interpol rushes in and she chides Tomas for all the criminal details he spilled in the previous 37 days. She walks away, leaving him fuming and in custody.
Her name isn’t actually Portia. As she leaves, aspect and tone instantly changed, she’s already arranging her next destination — Istanbul — and her next identity, telling a person on the telephone, “I would like my name to be Imogen.” She will be Imogen for the rest of The Veil.
It’s here, two minutes into the show, that eagle-eyed viewers and English majors should already be putting together certain pieces.

If nothing else, The Veil is certainly efficient. While streaming series tend to stretch out their plots for far too many episodes and multiple seasons, Elisabeth Moss’ new Hulu thriller (premiering next Tuesday, April 30 on the streamer) is told across six lean episodes that mostly clock in well under an hour. Having seen all six, I can say it’s an effectively tense and propulsive drama that scratches that Homeland itch, with its tale of a damaged spy forming a close bond with a possible terrorist. But even in six hours, it still finds time for unnecessary subplots and bizarre...

Originally envisioned as a British mockumentary spin-off starring Ricky Gervais and co-created by Steven Knight, The Office soon became one of the most popular sitcoms in history. Due to its popularity, the series has received numerous international versions, each dealing with the life of a small company dealing, in most cases, with paper. The American iteration starring Steve Carrell and John Krasinski is by far the most famous of these international versions, and if you remember, we have recently reported that the series would be getting another spin-off.
Plans for a spin-off of The Office have been there since 2008, and as we reported not that long ago, it has been confirmed that original showrunner Greg Daniels is indeed moving forward with a new version of the series. The series was, in the meantime, confirmed to be a spin-off rather than a reboot or revival of the original series. Today, we...

In “Back to Black,” Jack O’Connell’s Blake Fielder-Civil comes into the life of Amy Winehouse — played by an exceptional Marisa Abela — with seductive bravado, sweeping the singer off her feet on their first meeting in a London pub thanks to, among other things, a lip-synced rendition of the Shangri-La’s “Leader of the Pack”.
As the divisive biopic, directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and released in the U.K. by StudioCanal this Friday (and in the U.S. by Focus Features on May 17), agonizingly portrays, the smitten pair quickly descend into violent self-destruction — a “toxic co-dependency” as Fielder-Civil later describes it in the film — fueled by alcoholism and drug abuse.
Many may question the ethics of picking at a tragic story that was heavily chronicled and sensationalized by the media in real-time during Winehouse’s final years. But for anyone who’s been tracking O’Connell’s career, the opportunity to...

The whole concept of art triumphing over every worldly problem sounds novel on paper, but it’s really hard to execute on screen. There’s a huge risk of things turning into a gimmicky mess. But that’s not the case with Steven Knight’s latest show, This Town, which is truly magnificent in every possible sense. It drops you in a world of chaos that is filled with genuinely likable characters worthy enough to root for. Engaging from the spectacular opening sequence of a riot breaking out to the final scene of a maddeningly beautiful concert, This Town is an ingenious piece of work. The 80s’ set Irish drama is a heady mix of many genres, from crime noir to coming of age to dysfunctional family drama to musical. Imagine if Sons of Anarchy was made by John Carney, and you get the idea!

Eight months after it began global release, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer opened in Japan today. The Best Picture Oscar winner about the race to develop the atomic bomb has been met with a mix of reactions, some praising the movie and some finding it uncomfortable to watch. There also have been reports of confusion over the devastating 1945 bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki not explicitly being depicted.
Nolan addressed that decision in July, telling NBC it was made because the film is told subjectively from the eponymous physicist’s point of view. “To depart from [his experience] would betray the terms of the storytelling,” the filmmaker said at the time. “He learned about the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on the radio — the same as the rest of the world.”
There had been a question mark over Oppenheimer playing in Japan given sensitivities to the subject matter. But in December, Universal’s local distribution partner,...

In the wake of his Oscar win for Oppenheimer, Cillian Murphy has added another role to his increasingly busy slate – the period drama Blood Runs Coal.
With the odd exception, Oscar-winning actors don’t tend to be short of work in the wake of winning the coveted gong, and the same seems true for Cillian Murphy. In fairness, the actor’s schedule was already pretty busy, but he’s added another project to his slate that will see him produce and star in another take on a non-fiction story.

Exclusive: Two nights before Cillian Murphy won the Best Actor Oscar for the Universal Pictures blockbuster Oppenheimer, the studio completed a pre-emptive acquisition for the Mark A. Bradley book Blood Runs Coal: The Yablonski Murders and the Battle for the United Mine Workers of America. It’s an epic story of a corrupt union leader who murders a rival and is taken down by the lawyer son of the slain coal miner. It will be scripted as a starring and producing vehicle for Murphy.
Jez Butterworth will write the script with John-Henry Butterworth. That duo worked together on Edge of Tomorrow. There is a lot here for them to mine.
Blood Runs Coal takes place in the late 1960s in the coal mines of Pennsylvania and chronicles one of the most infamous crimes in the history of organized labor.
