Dio’s debut album, Holy Diver, will be reissued this summer to mark what would have been the 80th birthday of the late Ronnie James Dio. The four-cd set, dubbed Holy Diver: Super Deluxe Edition, contains a new remix of the album by Joe Barresi (Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold), the original album remastered, a live album recorded in 1983, and a compendium of outtakes, single versions of tracks, and B-sides. It will come out on July 8, two days ahead of Dio’s birthday.

Since forming more than four decades ago, Def Leppard became one of the best-selling bands in the world on the strength of mega-platinum albums like Pyromania and Hysteria and hard-rocking anthems like “Photograph” and “Pour Some Sugar on Me.” Tonight, they were finally recognized for their contributions to rock & roll.
The band has been eligible for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for 14 years now but they’ve been up for nomination only once. It turns out, that’s all they needed. The group garnered more votes...

Def Leppard recorded a nearly note-perfect rendition of the title track of their 1987 blockbuster album Hysteria, as well as a heavy cover of Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus,” at Spotify’s recording studio for the streaming service’s “Spotify Singles” series. “Hysteria” features a little bluesier guitar soloing here and there and it lacks the gargantuan wall of vocals on the original, but it’s an otherwise faithful performance of the song, which made it to Number 10 on the Hot 100.

Although Donald Trump might not have the long flowing hair required to be a rock star, he is set to share the stage with and introduce '80s hair metal band Def Leppard on Aug. 15 at the Iowa State Fair. But not if guitar player Vivian Campbell has anything to say about it! The axe-shredder isn't pouring any sugar on a brutally honest Facebook post directed at the presidential hopeful, "I really, really, really hope that there's no truth to this rumour. Def Leppard have never been a political band, and if we were, I for one wouldn't be associating my name with this clown." The "Rock of Ages" guitarist isn't the first musician to slam the...

Sad news—Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell's cancer has returned and he has pulled out of the band's tour as a result. The 52-year-old has documented his battle with Hodgkin's lymphoma, with affects the lymphatic system, on Facebook. "I'm saddened by the fact that my cancer has returned," he wrote on Friday, June 19. "However, I'm beyond consolation that it's return will prevent me from being able to do my job for a while. I'm still working on a schedule of treatment with my doctors, but I will see you all very soon. My apologies." Def Leppard recently toured Canada, Europe and Puerto Rico and are set to perform in the United States with fellow rock...

The Voice is just about ready to name its next winner, but not without a final plea for votes. With Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green sitting out of the finale for the first time ever, the competition has narrowed down to Christina Aguilera's Jacquie Lee and Will Champlin and Tessanne Chin, both under Adam Levine's wing. After the four coaches' "Pour Some Sugar on Me" with Def Leppard's Rick Allen, Phil Collen, and Vivian Campbell, the top three singers each sang three songs: blind auditions, a duet with the coach and a final solo performance. Rocking with Def Leppard between bouts of chemotherapy proved healing for guitarist Vivian Campbell.
The 51-year-old musician relied on his bandmates and the thrill of performing to help him through a diagnosis of Hodgkins lymphoma (he started treatment in April). The band hit the road this summer for a monthlong tour that wrapped in July.
"We've actually been able to work through it," said Campbell. "We did the shows in Europe while I was doing chemo ... and mentally that was a big part of my recovery."
"I'm glad I had the opportunity to work through it instead of stay at home and feel sorry for myself," he added.
After more than 30 years together, Def Leppard isn't slowing down for cancer - or anything else.

Def Leppard's Vivian Campbell surprised the rock world earlier this summer when he revealed he was being treated for Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The even more shocking news was that the axeman was determined not to let his chemo treatments stop him from joining the band on their summer tour.
While on the road, Campbell opened up about the way his treatments forced him to hop between continents in between Def Leppard gigs.
"The band has been very accommodating," he says. "We've been able to [make it] work because there have been enough gaps in the schedule. Chemo treatment number six I did on the 18th of June, and then the next day I flew to France to join the band. And then I [flew] back to La on the 7th of July for my seventh treatment, and I [left] for Canada the day after that."

Vivian Campbell is assuring fans that there's no need for Hysteria. The Def Leppard guitarist revealed today that he is two months into a course of chemotherapy to treat Hodgkin's lymphoma; he says he has four months of treatment left and is "feeling rather spiffy, all things considered." "I feel fortunate that my cancer sent me an alarm call in the form of 'the cough that wouldn't quit,'" Campbell said in a statement posted on Def Leppard's website. "Otherwise, how would I have known?" He continued: "After several months of trying every inhaler known to man, my doctor finally had me X-rayed. Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell revealed Monday that he has been diagnosed with cancer.
Campbell said after coping with a "cough that wouldn't quit" he went in for a surgical biopsy on March 11 while in Las Vegas with the band and found out he has Hodgkin's lymphoma. He must undergo months of chemotherapy but feels "fortunate that my cancer sent me an alarm call."
"My diagnosis was Hodgkin's Lymphoma and 6 months of chemotherapy is the prescribed treatment," the 50-year-old said in a statement posted to the Def Leppard Facebook page. "I’m about 2 months in and feeling rather spiffy, all things considered. Hodgkin's has an over 80% cure rate, so by my reckoning, if you’re going to have a cancer, Hodgie’s is the one to have!"

Def Leppard has no shame.
When it comes to riding the fur-covered, animal print-lined coattails of Rock of Ages, the big-screen musical opening Friday about love and hair bands in the 1980s, the group isn't shying away from commandeering some of the film's spotlight to remind everyone they're still around, and they're still rockin'. Rock of Ages was, after all, the title of a Def Leppard hit long before it was a Broadway musical.
The British band - lead singer Joe Elliott, bassist Rick Savage, drummer Rick Allen and guitarists Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell - re-recorded two of their songs that appear in the film, and they're teaming up with Poison and Lita Ford for a summer tour kicking off June 20 in Salt Lake City.

Def Leppard have given their stamp of approval for Tom Cruise's performance in Rock of Ages. The actor plays rock band leader Stacee Jaxx in the musical, which includes him singing a cover of the band's 'Pour Some Sugar on Me'. The British band - consisting of lead singer Joe Elliott, bassist Rick Savage, drummer Rick Allen and guitarists Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell - revealed their surprise at Cruise's singing ability when they visited the set. "We were fortune enough to check his filming out of that particular performance because we were both in Florida at the same time," Savage told The AP. "We just had to get there as he was shooting some of the scenes. That was special in itself, just getting to meet the man. His voice was good." "It was pretty surreal, actually," added Elliott. If there’s one thing to be said while listening to a hilariously bad song like “Shock Dance”, it’s that they really don’t make movie soundtracks like they used to. Heck, even in 1989 they rarely made movie soundtracks quite like that of Wes Craven’s Shocker.
The first time the Shocker soundtrack made it into the B-Sides column, it was the film’s theme song performed by the 80’s rock supergroup The Dudes of Wrath (Kiss’ Paul Stanley, producer Desmond Child, guitarists Vivian Campbell of Def Leppard and Guy Mann-Dude, Whitesnake bassist Rudy Srazo, and Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee). I wrote then they were brought into existence for the sole purpose of performing Shocker’s same-name anthem. At the time I forgot even a band created to perform one song still needs a b-side.
That b-side would be a bizarre little number called “Shock Dance”, and because...

'Durbinators' were crushed on Thursday night when their top pic for the American Idol win, James Durbin, was abruptly eliminated from the Fox competition. It was the exit heard around the world as fans cried foul and ignited Twitter with tweets of injustice on behalf of the heavy metal rocker who stole their hearts in a single song (or two). His journey from Santa Cruz, California to the Idol stage ended when he landed in the bottom two along with country fave Scotty McCreery, leaving more than a few (including the Idol judges - J Lo cried) surprised that both girls survived. James was the only contestant to escape the bottom two or three all season, leaving his fans now wondering what went wrong. In spite of his exit, James is now looking forward to a bright future - and with good reason. Rumors have already started circulating about record deals,...

In 1992, Vivian Campbell joined the mega-success rock group Def Leppard, stepping into the second lead guitarist slot left vacate by Steve Clark, who had died the year before. At the time, Campbell had gone a few years out of the spotlight after leaving David Coverdale's rock supergroup Whitesnake before signed on with the Leps, a position he's had for nearly 20 years that remains his most high-profile gig to date.

Nine days after finalizing his divorce from second wife Anita Thomas Collen, Def Leppard's lead guitarist Phil Collen has walked down the aisle with costume designer Helen L. Simmons.
