The second short of Grimmfest’s Northern Showcase was Snatchers, another premiere for the event – this time of the UK variety – directed by Drew Lovett, an assistant editor at ITV who, under the Northern Giant Productions banner previously helmed the short Insomnia. For Snatchers he re-teams with the star of that short, Erin Shanagher.
Snatchers tells the story of Jeff and Danielle (played by Rupert Hill and Erin Shanagher respectively) who, after a night out, return home to discover an intruder in their apartment. You’d think the solution is simple… Call the police and wait it out. However Jeff has other ideas.

It’s grim up north. Or so many British horror films would have you believe. If you’re travelling across the Yorkshire Moors you damn well better not be travelling alone or – heaven forbid – at night, otherwise your loved ones will be identifying your half-digested remains found in the woods outside Northallerton. You’d think people would have learned this lesson by now, but commuting businessman Jake (Rupert Hill) appears to be a slow learner. After a freak road accident he wakes up in the rural home of Morris (an unhinged Tony Curran) and his sheltered daughter Lauren (pop star Diana Vickers) and attempts to leave so that he can attend an ill-defined but ultra-important “business meeting” and, oh yeah, propose to his girlfriend.

Awaiting is a psychological thriller from director Mark Murphy (The Crypt). Focusing on a reclusive cannibal, the film also involves a terrified victim. Awaiting will premiere at the United Kingdom's Film4 Frightfest Film Festival. And, the film stars Tony Curran (Gladiator), Diana Vickers and Rupert Hill. A trailer for the film was released, recently (hosted below). Now, the film's official poster has been revealed and it can be seen here. The trailer brings more of the story out, to feed on. The clip shows how a lone cannibal ambushes and captures his prey (spike strip). The trailer also shows how the cannibal's daughter grows cold feet, when the new prey is being readied for a feast. Characters collide and allegiances are dissolved in this intriguing film. A review or two for Awaiting have been kind. Roger Crow, of the Huffington Post, mentions some of the bloodier scenes, which are "wince-inducing.

Six years after finishing fourth in The X Factor, Diana Vickers has released two albums and launched an acting career on stage and screen.
Last year, she was due to make her TV acting debut in the comedy series Give Out Girls on Sky Living, but the series was delayed and later picked up by Comedy Central.
Give Out Girls stars Vickers and Him & Her's Kerry Howard, and was co-written by Tony MacMurray and Hatty Ashdown. It follows a group of four girls who work in promotions and carry out roles like handing out free light bulbs to commuters.
Ahead of the show's premiere on Tuesday (October 14), Digital Spy and others had a quick chat with the singer and actress about her latest project and where it may take her in the future.

We may forget the past, but it never forgets us! We have a completely new trailer for Steve Stone‘s upcoming horror flick (or maybe the right word is paranormal thriller after all?) Entity, which is (unfortunately) still without an official release date. But, it looks pretty cool to me, so I’m here to share some pictures, poster and of course the second trailer for the whole thing. Hope you’ll like it!
In case you’re not so familiar with this project, I will first inform you that it comes from writer and director Stone, who already revealed:
…this is not a foundfootage film – this is something else…
What exactly?

Upon watching the first five seconds of the trailer for Steve Stone's Entity, you'll probably think, "Please, not another cookie-cutter found-footage horror film." However, by the time it finishes, you may find yourself writing your local film festival and demanding they schedule this little nightmare.
Entity was recently completed and is currently being submitted to festivals. Judging by the sleek trailer, writer/director Stone seems to have captured some real frights with this UK thriller. Check out the stills and trailer below and see if you don't agree.

Cinematical have posted an exclusive poster for Down Terrace, an upcoming family-orientated crime comedy. Directed by first-timer Ben Wheatley and starring Robin Hill, Julia Deakin, Rupert Hill and Sara Dee; the UK production has won awards at both Raindance and the Boston Independent Film Festival.
Synopsis: After serving jail time for a mysterious crime, Bill and Karl get out of jail and become preoccupied with figuring out who turned them in to the police. On top of that, the “family business” is on the rocks, and the motley crew of criminals who operate out of Down Terrace aren’t feeling terribly trusting of one another. It might look like an ordinary house, but at Down Terrace, the walls are closing in…
Ben Wheatley’s directing style has been compared to the likes of Ken Loach, Mike Leigh and The Coen Brothers, making this a UK crime comedy worth a viewing.

Former Coronation Street star Rupert Hill has admitted that he took a big risk when he decided to quit the show. The actor, who is currently appearing in a touring production of When Harry Met Sally, bowed out as Weatherfield's Jamie Baldwin in 2007 after four years in the role. Reflecting on his soap stint, Hill told the Birmingham Post: "I got paid incredibly well, and starring in Coronation Street was a very enjoyable job, and I made really good friends. But I've always wanted to be an actor. And part of what attracted me to the profession was the diversity of roles you can get.
