The documentary 'God Versus Aliens' is to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival and reveal the Vatican's secrets about UFOs.The award-winning filmmaker Mark Christopher Lee says that the Vatican publishing new guidance on apparitions means that the full disclosure about the UFO phenomena is getting closer. He said: "The Vatican has been studying UFOs for decades and even has its own Cardinal appointed to deal with first contact. From my research I believe that this new guidance on apparitions is proof that they know that UFOs are more than just physical crafts from other worlds and that they have a paranormal side to them."The film is premiering at Cannes this week and analyses the role that the Vatican has played in keeping the truth about UFOs hidden from the public and suggests they believe – along with members of the US and UK governments – that the spacecrafts are demonic in origin.

Gad Elmaleh (fan of Nanni Moretti and Woody Allen films) on the set of Stay With Us (Reste Un Peu) with his parents
Stand-up comedian Gad Elmaleh, the director and star of Stay With Us (co-written with Benjamin Charbit) plays a version of himself who explores a lifelong fascination with the Virgin Mary. After living in America, Gad returns to Paris, where he is welcomed by his parents, played by the actor’s actual mother and father, Régine and David, his sister Judith and old friends, which include the actor Roschdy Zem (star of Arnaud Desplechin’s Oh Mercy! with Léa Seydoux and Sara Forestier). Cardinal Jean-Marie Lustiger, Simone Veil, and Henri Bergson get a shoutout as Gad reflects on some wide-ranging questions on faith as he meets with a priest (Father Barthélémy played by Nicolas Port), a rabbi (Pierre-Henry Salfati), a nun (Catherine Thiercelin), a theologian (Frédéric Lenoir), and...

With Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan, the first part of Martin Bourboulon’s adaptation of Alexander Dumas’ classic novel, hitting all the right notes, it was expected that the second half of the epic saga was going to be as exciting as the first one. And Bourboulon’s film turns out to be exactly how you thought it would be—chaotic, exhilarating, and entertaining. Like the first part, this one also keeps the main essence of the novel intact while making some significant changes. I assume you must be surprised to see how certain things have turned out here. In this article, we’re going to dissect Three Musketeers: Milady and will also address the possibility of this turning into a trilogy.

Adapting a widely popular classic like The Three Musketeers in cinema is never an easy thing. With as many as seven film adaptations of Alexander Dumas’ iconic novel before, director Martin Bourboulon had to do something extraordinary to make the latest two-part French adaptation work. And to think he has actually achieved that! Of course, we haven’t seen the second half of the epic saga yet, but if we go by the glorious first part, titled The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan, it can fairly be said that Bourboulon’s adaptation is not only on the right track; it might just end up being the greatest. In this article, we’re going to shed some light on the cliffhanger ending of The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan. But a quick summary of the events before does seem like a necessity.

If you thought babysitting was tough, try stopping the birth of the Antichrist. The First Omen sweeps you into a visually lush 1970s Rome, serving up a sumptuous feast for the eyes that’s as stylish as it is shadowy. Although you might find yourself guessing the twists before they unfurl, the film keeps its grip with a dark, rich portrayal of evil’s origins. It’s all for you, Damien.
“[The First Omen serves] up a sumptuous feast for the eyes that’s as stylish as it is shadowy.”
From the opening scenes, the film devilishly dazzles with a rich color palette that superbly captures the eerie 1970s Rome, replete with political unrest, religious skepticism and foreboding religious iconography. The grandeur of the Eternal City is captured in sweeping vistas, which, combined with a robust orchestral score, elevates the production value to a level that’s a rarity in modern horror flicks. Robert Eggers’ upcoming remake of F.W. Murnau’s silent classic Nosferatu is one of the more highly anticipated horror movies of the year, and the lucky folks at CinemaCon got a look at an exclusive first look at the chilling production.
The first look at Nosferatu was suitably terrifying with a heavy gothic tone. Classic-looking tall, dark castles, scurrying rats, blood gushing from necks, and full-on bleak horror. The footage included looks at Lily-Rose Depp (The Idol) and Willem Dafoe (Poor Things) but sadly only featured quick glimpses of Count Orlock himself. Perhaps that’s for the best, but I can’t wait to see Bill Skarsgard (Boy Kills World) disappear into the character.

Edward Berger’s last film, “All Quiet on the Western Front,” won four Academy Awards — including Best International Feature Film — for Netflix. The director’s new epic, “Conclave,” which is set up at Focus Features, may just best that tally.
Attendees at the 2024 CinemaCon convention in Las Vegas got a look at first footage from the film during the Universal Pictures and Focus Features presentation on Wednesday, April 10. A papal thriller starring Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, and Isabella Rossellini, “Conclave” is no doubt an Oscar hopeful for Focus given its November 2024 release date. Having seen the trailer only reinforces the awards play. Give the devil its due: “Conclave” looks good.
When the pope dies, “Conclave” scrambles to find God’s new messenger on Earth. The search turns into a holy war that is anything but holy. Focus Features chairman Peter Kujawski described the film as a “Machiavellian thriller.

This past week, the anticipated horror, ‘Immaculate’ had its theatrical release nationwide. After the initial premiere at South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas, the film was met with a mix of reviews but a positive response overall. No matter what one may think of the film, ‘Immaculate’ has transformed producer and leading actor, Sydney Sweeney, into a scream queen for the new generation.

Faith as an institution has historically been founded upon the goodwill of bringing people together, but in the wrong hands, like every other medium, it can be wielded as a terrible weapon to doom humankind. Arkasha Stevenson’s The First Omen, a prequel to the original The Omen (1976), focuses on the malevolent potential of faith when it is controlled by peddlers of religion. As the movie acts as a period piece to showcase a transition in contemporary Western generational consciousness, the horror aspects of the narrative get an anchor to establish themselves in a meaningful way.
David Seltzer’s horror classic The Omen gained much success through the sensational choice of portraying a child as the central evil entity and also by delineating the dispensationalist belief system, which had started making an impact on the cultural zeitgeist of the Western world during the 1970s. This article contains major The First Omen spoilers.
It is said the Devil is in the details, and the details are quite devilish, indeed, in The First Omen. The surprisingly stylish and adroit chiller from first-time feature director Arkasha Stevenson takes the well-worn Hollywood formula of making a “story before the story” prequel, and actually conjures something drenched in atmosphere, originality, and modern urgency. Most of the time.
While the movie has a despairing timeliness in 2024 with its parable about a patriarchal system attempting to control and use women’s bodies to achieve their own power-hungry ends, The First Omen is still also a prequel to a film that was released almost 50 years ago. As such, it is forced to conclude where The Omen begins. And in the case of a franchise as steeped in opaque mysticism and religious dread as this, that kind of ending might baffle newcomers to the series.

Horror prequels have a tendency to fizzle for a number of reasons, whether they lean too hard on the lore of the original or they start telegraphing all the punches that made the film they’re prequelizing scary to begin with.

This article contains major spoilers for "The First Omen."Hello folks! Welcome back to Nunsploitation 2024: Battle of the Babies.
When last we left the saga of Damien Thorn, it was 1981, and Damien was played by the devilishly handsome Sam Neill in "The Final Conflict." In that film, the Antichrist nearly fulfilled his evil purpose in halting the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, but was foiled by his one-time lover, journalist Kate Reynolds (Lisa Harrow), who through the grace of God and her own strength was able to fatally stab Damien with the magical dagger of Megiddo, the weapon that poor Robert Thorn (Gregory Peck) failed to use against his adopted son Damien (Harvey Spencer Stephens) when he was a child in 1976.
If a 33-year-old Damien in 1981 seems implausible given that the first film sees Damien as merely five years of age and the 1978 sequel, "Damien: Omen II" follows the...

I am not sure the world asked for yet another take on 20th Century Fox’s Omen franchise, the constantly regurgitated series with Damien (who made the numbers 666 iconic) and company. Since the 1976 original, when Damien first appeared in the movie with Gregory Peck and Lee Remick, we have had Damien: Omen II, The Final Conflict, Omen IV: The Awakening (in which a girl becomes the antichrist for the first time), the 2006 remake The Omen, and even a 2016 Damien TV series. Of course, like all these horror franchises, it is inevitable someone would come up with the idea for an origin story, and that is what we now have with The First Omen, which is, of course, not the first, just the latest. But, set in 1971, it does attempt to take us right to the doorstep of the actual first, the Richard Donner-directed 1976 starter.

Nobody could predict that a theatrical Omen prequel would go as hard as Arkasha Stevenson’s The First Omen. There’s minimal wiggle room for narrative surprises leading into 1976’s blasphemous horror tale about the antichrist, yet Stevenson oversees a frightening and stimulating franchise origin. Rosemary’s Baby and The Omen surface as obvious sources of inspiration, but The First Omen compares cleanest to Neon’s religion-roasting Sydney Sweeney vehicle Immaculate. Stevenson unleashes astonishingly graphic imagery that’d make Immaculate blush, and despite how the two-hour running time presents laggy pacing issues, The First Omen successfully executes standalone appeal while fulfilling its promise of being all for you, Damien.
The film’s events occur in Rome’s Vizzardeli Orphanage, where American candidate Margaret Daino (Nell Tiger Free) transfers to earn her status as a Sister. Cardinal Lawrence (Bill Nighy) extends a familiar welcome since he’s known Margaret since childhood.

When compared to "classier" Satanic contemporaries like "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Exorcist," Richard Donner's 1976 hit "The Omen" is the pulpiest of the lot. "The Omen" had no interest in the sexist panic of the former, nor the religious angst of the latter, settling instead in the realm of spooky thrillers, replete with cool kills, portentous Satanic language, and an awesome score (a score that brought Jerry Goldsmith his only Oscar). There's no ambiguity to "The Omen," being clear from the start that Gregory Peck and Lee Remick are indeed raising the Antichrist. The pop Satanism "The Omen" introduced into the lexicon has now become standard horror fare, and was even spoofed at length in the TV series "Good Omens."
"The Omen" spawned one okay sequel ("Damien: Omen II" in 1978), one risibly bad sequel ("The Final Conflict" in 1981), and one miserably bad sequel ("Omen IV: The Awakening" in 1991) before succumbing...

It’s a bit of a mixed bag being a nun in The First Omen. One minute you’re enjoying smutty talk with the sisters while peeling potatoes, or jumping on a trampoline smoking a cig, and the next you’re at the center of a terrifying conspiracy which could change the world as we know it.

“Immaculate” marks the latest project to star Sydney Sweeney, who is known for television shows like “Euphoria” and “The White Lotus” and Sony’s latest superhero endeavor “Madame Web.” Sweeney also made up half of the dynamic duo — alongside Glen Powell — that brought “Anyone but You” to box office success, and just as she produced that rom-com, she’s a producer on the horror film “Immaculate.”
Director Michael Mohan had high praises for Sweeney, whom he has worked with before. The director was inspired by “The Devils” (1971) directed by Ken Russell as well as other Italian horror films to shape the story of Sweeney’s Cecelia.

The daughter of horror master David Cronenberg, Caitlin Cronenberg is making her own mark in the genre filmmaking space with Humane, and the official trailer has arrived.
IFC Films debuted the Humane trailer via Indiewire today, and it continues the tradition of filmmakers named Cronenberg playing with wildly interesting movie premises.

The film is described as “a dystopian satire taking place over a single day, months after a global ecological collapse has forced world leaders to take extreme measures to reduce the earth’s population.”

Religious horror is one of the most effective horror subgenres. No matter what religion a movie is exploring, the very idea of faith being turned into a nightmare you can’t escape from is inherently ready for some thought-provoking ideas, imagery, and scares. “Immaculate,” the new nun horror movie starring and produced by Sydney Sweeney, fails to stand out among other religious horror movies, relying instead on cheap and uninspired jump scares, and marred by pacing issues and a superficial exploration of what makes Catholicism scary. It never provides a cohesive narrative to support the genuinely interesting and bonkers ending to this Italian convent nightmare.
It’s not like the idea of horrors inside a convent isn’t already a prime setting for scares. An isolated place where only women reside, but controlled by men, belonging to an institution with a millennia-long history of abuse, is ripe for horror. This...

It is not original to observe that despite being about salvation, much of traditional Roman Catholicism seems rooted in pain and agony. Like many children before me, I recall vividly the first shudder that accompanied seeing an idol of Christ graphically bleeding on the cross; and when fundamentalist filmmaker Mel Gibson made his movie about Jesus, it was entirely fixated on the passion (read: torture) this messiah endured. The actual resurrection and salvation, meanwhile, was not even deigned a footnote.
Folks should believe what they want to believe—and there are many beliefs, indeed, in a religion with 1.4 billion souls amongst its ranks—but there remains something positively medieval in certain, powerful corners of the orthodoxy. And director Michael Mohan and star/producer Sydney Sweeney have tapped into that iconography to summon a horror full of mysticism, passion, and, of course, pain. As the mother superior in Immaculate intones, “Suffering is love.

Focus Features has firmed up release plans for Conclave, the papal thriller marking filmmaker Edward Berger’s follow-up to his 2022 Oscar winner All Quiet on the Western Front. An adaptation of Robert Harris’ same-name bestseller, penned by Peter Straughan, the film releases in theaters in New York and L.A. on November 1st, before expanding on the 8th.
Currently, the 1st is only occupied by an unknown title from Universal Pictures. Titles set to open on the 8th include Sony’s Venom 3 and 20th’s action thriller The Amateur starring Rami Malek.

More than two years have gone by since we heard that photographer Caitlin Cronenberg, daughter of legendary filmmaker David Cronenberg, would be making her feature directorial debut with a thriller called Humane. Now, more than a year after the project wrapped production, we finally know when we’re going to have the chance to see it: Variety reports that IFC Films and the Shudder streaming service have picked up the U.S. distribution rights, with IFC planning to give the film a theatrical release on April 26th. It will then move to Shudder at a later date. Elevation Pictures will be handling Canadian distribution.
Written and produced by Michael Sparaga of Victory Man Productions, Humane is described as a “dystopian satire” takes place over the course of a single day, months after a global environmental collapse has forced world leaders to take extreme measures to reduce the earth’s population.

From the co-creator of Outnumbered comes a historical comedy called Fools, with Karen Gillan leading the cast. More here.
Karen Gillan’s just gone and signed up a new lead screen role, as she’s set to head the ensemble of the upcoming historical comedy, Fools.
The movie has been written and directed by Guy Jenkin, whose credits include Outnumbered and its sort of spin-off film, What We Did On Our Holiday. He’s attracted quite a cast too, on top of Karen Gillan’s headline act.
Alongside her are award-winner Pasty Ferran, the mighty Brenda Blethyn, and the peerless Jim Broadbent.
Karen Gillan – famous of course for Doctor Who, her Marvel work, Jumanji, and appearing on the cover of Film Stories magazine – will be playing Queen Mary I, in a story set just after the death of Henry VIII. Broadbent is Cardinal Pole (begging your pardon), whilst Patsy Ferran...

Lily Gladstone was FaceTiming her parents when her best actress Oscar nomination for Killers of the Flower Moon was announced.
They were both up to watch the announcement, the actress, who portrays Mollie Burkhart in the Apple film, says.
“My mom had the camera flipped around, and she was filming the TV,” Gladstone recalls to The Hollywood Reporter. “And I told her, ‘No mom, I don’t want to learn from like watching it through your phone. I wanna learn on your and dad’s faces.’ Sure enough, I could barely hear my name through the phone, but their reaction told me that it was a nod.”
With her nomination, Gladstone became the first Native American acting nominee in Oscars history. While she may be the first, the actress is certain she won’t be the last and argues that the honor isn’t just for her — it belongs to several people.

Echo, Marvel and Disney’s new five-part limited series, is a groundbreaking piece of television.
This isn’t the same — at least not necessarily — as being a great piece of television, but let’s start by giving credit where credit is due.
Doing an ostensible superhero show — it isn’t always clear that’s what Echo is — in which your protagonist is an Indigenous, deaf amputee will always be steering your vehicle off the paved roads and into uncharted territory. Doing it in a way that respects and honors all three of those outsider experiences without making it feel like you’re working your way down a representational checklist is an audacious and worthwhile thing.
In that respect, Echo is a triumph. It’s a series of moments that alternately had me thinking, “Huh, that feels different and right” and “Huh, I can’t believe somebody was able to do that in a Marvel show.

A speech written by Pope Francis was delivered by Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, at the COP28, the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
In this speech, the pope called for an end to fossil fuels.
The leader of the Catholic Church was unable to attend the Dubai summit and deliver the speech himself. He is continuing to recover from the flu and inflammation in his lungs.
“The destruction of the environment is an offense against God, a sin . . . that greatly endangers all human beings, especially the most vulnerable in our midst and threatens to unleash a conflict between generations,” the pope said. “Are we working for a culture of life or a culture of death? To all of you I make this heartfelt appeal: Let us choose life!”
The pope demanded that the planet should be kept safe by developing energy-efficient and renewable resources.

Things are getting downright apocalyptic in the second season of HBO Original Series “30 Coins.” Bloody Disgusting has been provided with an exclusive clip from the upcoming episode “Hellish Creatures,” teasing an unholy alliance between Father Vergara (Eduard Fernández), his sworn enemy, and Lucifer (Cosimo Fusco).

“Killers of the Flower Moon” is as close as Martin Scorsese has come to making a Western, even if it takes place in a 1920s Oklahoma where oil money is the last frontier left to fight over and the men — including Leonard DiCaprio’s Ernest Burkhart and Robert De Niro’s William “King” Hale — are anything but heroes. In fact, both men are part of a long-running plot to enrich themselves off oil claims held by members of the Osage, including Burkhart’s wife, Molly (Lily Gladstone). Even so, costume designer Jacqueline West took a little inspiration from stars of classic Westerns when it came to creating the fashion that Burkhart would adopt as he came into more money.
As West assembled the “Killers of the Flower Moon” costume team, she reached out to Diana Foster of United American Costume. “She’s an old friend of mine and her father was Luster Bayless,...

Based on journalist David Grann’s bestselling non-fiction book “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI,” Martin Scorsese’s Killers Of The Flower Moon turns that non-fiction book into drama that combines elements of romance, mystery, and the history of the 1920s Osage murders, in an epic Western thriller starring Leo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Lily Gladstone.

Grann’s non-fiction book details these killings and suspicious deaths, which occurred as...

Monia Chokri’s “The Nature of Love” has been acquired for U.K. and Ireland distribution by Vertigo Releasing.
The film stars Magalie Lépine Blondeau and Pierre-Yves Cardinal. “The Nature of Love” premiered at Cannes’ Un Certain Regard strand earlier this year and since then has played Toronto and Zurich among other festivals. It has its U.K. premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on Oct. 13 and will play Chicago post that.
“Female mid-life crises are not explored in this mode of storytelling as often their male counterpart: While the tragedy of the woman who f—s around and finds out is a mainstay of plenty of great literature and cinema,...

In recent years Paul Verhoeven's Hollywood films have been going through something of a critical revaluation. Flesh + Blood is now being appreciated as an allegory of Nazi Germany, Martin (Rutger Hauer) as Hitler, the Cardinal (Ronald Lacey) Goebbels and Agnes (Jennifer Jason Leigh), complicit in her own rape, the March Violets. Starship Troopers is a parody of totalitarian propaganda. Someday Showgirls may be seen as a cutting critique slashing at the Hollywood system and the American Dream. Everyone can have their piece of apple pie as long as they are willing to exploit and abuse.
RoboDoc documents the filming of RoboCop, Verhoeven's satire on the privatisation and militarisation of policing and corporate America's fascistic tendencies.
At almost five hours long, what you get to see is an almost shot for shot 'making of' documentary. It starts at the beginning with script writing and production through to filming, editing and.

After a string of run-ins with Catholicism, Queen of pop Madonna has poked fun at the Pope by wearing a hoodie showing him with flaming wings. In a nod to her famous quote “I would like to see the Pope wearing my T-shirt,” Madonna has been sporting a black hoodie embroidered with an image of the Catholic leader wearing a Madonna-branded robe — with the red in the picture inspired by the Jewish mysticism movement Kabbalah.
The top was custom designed by Seks and also shows Pope Francis with a set of flaming wings, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
Label designers Abel Cepeda Ljoka and Will Kowall told Page Six about how the Pope design was inspired by Madonna’s quote: “We used red thread inspired by the Kabbalah red string to protect the wearer’s energy.”
“We are literally the biggest Madonna fans. We love her so much, and have such...
