- There is a memorial to the family in the Church at Melksham, Wiltshire.
- Mrs Frederick Joseph Goodwin (Augusta Tyler) was born in Brompton, Kensington, Middlesex, England on 14 July 1868.
- Augusta was married on Christmas Day 1894 to Frederick Joseph Goodwin (b. 18708), a Surrey native who worked as a printer. Together they would have six children: Lillian Augusta (b. 1896), Charles Edward (b. 1897), William Frederick (b. 1898), Jessie Allis Mary (b. 1900), Harold Victor (b. 1901) and Sidney Leslie (b. 1910).
- It would have been great if the 1996 miniseries had used the original script, as it was the only Titanic film to have the Goodwin family as their character.
- Augusta first appears on the 1871 census living at North Row in Brompton, Kensington but would appear at 2 Dukes Lane, Kensington by the time of the 1881 census. Her family were living at 10 Vernon Street, Fulham, London at the time of the 1891 census but Augusta was listed elsewhere at Pockeridge House, Corsham, Wiltshire where she was described as a domestic servant.
- Like most large families travelling in third class, especially those with teenage boys, the entire family was lost in the sinking. Only the body of baby Sidney was recovered (remaining unidentified for many years).
- The Goodwin family actually appeared in the original script of the 1996 Miniseries Titanic: part 1 and part 2 but in the final script they were replaced by the fictional Jack family. This was changed because the James Cameron's 1997 film Titanic was due for release in the following year, so the production was completed in such a hurry that it was necessary to change the original script.
- Augusta's estate, valued at £26, 11s, was administered to her sister Clara Berry on 19 September 1912.
- Also in the original script, it is described that steward John Hart forgot to return to pick up the Goodwins to take them to the boat while he was already in one of the boats himself. In the miniseries, Jamie is the one who is supposed to return to pick up Jack's family but ends up falling into the lifeboat.
- In the original script, it even shows how the Goodwins' final moments were before they died, such as when Augusta losing her daughter's grip when the Titanic's deck tilted completely.
- She was the daughter of Charles Tyler (1838-1897), a waiter, and Clara Ann Cook (1837-1908). Her father hailed from Chingford, Essex and her mother from Chelsea, London and they were married in 1865.
- Some of the families seen in the 1997 film, and the Maloney family in the 2012 Miniseries may also be inspired by the Goodwin family.
- The family had originally planned to cross on another steamer but the coal strike changed their plans and they were transferred to the Titanic. They boarded Titanic in Southampton on 10 April 1912 as third class passengers (ticket number 2144 which cost £46, 18s).
- She had four known siblings: Harriet Maria (b. 1866), Clara Ann (1872-1951, later Mrs Ernest Albert Berry), Arthur William (b. 1874) and Charles Edward (1880-1971).
