As a professional athlete, Novak Djokovic looks at other athletes for inspiration, even those with little to do with his sport.
All athletes share a bond due to the nature of their work, and we see it in the Olympic Games. It's the pinnacle of sports, and athletes' respect for each other is palpable there. Even in everyday life, we'll hear stories of athletes praising other athletes for inspiring them.
Novak Djokovic has inspired many athletes across several sports, but he also derives inspiration from other great athletes. He's maintained connections with plenty of them, and one of those is Aaron Rodgers. The legendary quarter-back was in attendance for his match against Borna Gojo, and Djokovic spoke about that after his win in the fourth-round match at the 2023 US Open .
It's a pleasure to have Aaron in the stands tonight for the match. I'm hope he enjoyed himself. Obviously him,...

This post contains spoilers for the season 3 finale of "Ted Lasso."
"Ted Lasso" was adept at delivering the thrills of a sports drama, with the fall and rise of an underground English football team, while also telling a beautiful story about community, mental health, self-improvement, and being open about emotions.
After three seasons, "Ted Lasso" is seemingly, apparently, as far as we know, done and over. After two very strong seasons, the final season was a very mixed bag, with a lack of focus thanks to longer episodes that dragged on, a sermon-of-the-week format that seemed to take away from the joy of earlier seasons, and a misguided football story that was too obsessed with winning — until it wasn't.
This is (kind of) a football show, of course, meaning the characters' careers and stories carry on after the end of the finale. We know Ted Lasso's career at AFC Richmond is over,...

"Ted Lasso" is many things: a show about mental health, community and self-improvement, a comedy about culture shock, and a thrilling sports drama about the joys and heartbreaks of association football. When it comes to this last part, the Apple TV+ series is in kind of a weird place. You see, AFC Richmond is a fictional team, but it competes against real teams. For the most part, "Ted Lasso" stays in its own little bubble, in part because the show has its own analogs to real-life players — like Dani Rojas being heavily inspired by Javier "Chicharito" Hernández, or Jamie Tartt serving as a sort of Ronaldo stand-in, or Zlatan being a clear inspiration for Zava.
This isn't to say "Ted Lasso" is entirely disconnected from the real world. The show has plenty of references to real athletes, and there have been some stellar cameos from actual football players and pundits,...

This post contains spoilers for "Ted Lasso" season 3, episode 11.
"Ted Lasso" has brought the world of association football to new audiences. Just like Grogu made a lot of people who don't care about "Star Wars" suddenly watch "The Mandalorian" because they liked the cute puppet, "Ted Lasso" mixed the thrills of the greatest sport with a compelling dramedy that knew when to poke fun at the more absurd things about football (like the off-side rule) while showing how exhilarating the sport is and how much it means to people.
Although the show does use real teams and real locations, "Ted Lasso" has largely stayed in its own little alternate universe for three seasons — until now.
Granted, season 3 has been a bit of a mixed bag, one that has somewhat left football behind and turned into a sermon of the week show, while also devoting far too much time on a...

There are millions of us who remember the joy of getting a fresh comic of Asterix and Obelix in our hands and diving into the world of rowdy, boisterous Gauls, scheming Romans, magic potions, and a whole lot of fun. René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo’s masterpiece, the Asterix and Obelix series, gets a live-action adaptation of “The Middle Kingdom” comic, and it’s every bit as fun as you’d expect it to be. Guillaume Canet brings us the live-action representation of this joy with his latest adventure comedy, Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom. With fabulous actors, jaw-dropping scenery, amazing representation of various cultures, and side-splitting humor, this movie is all you need for a happy weekend.
In the barricaded little town of Armorica inside Gaul, where our heroes Asterix and Obelix spend their days hunting boars and thumping Roman soldiers, a mysterious carriage driver brings in treasure from a land far away.

Mantícora Distribución has acquired the vampire story “While the Masters Sleep” by Santiago Alvarado Ilarri for international sales.
The film – which will also mark the debut of Spain’s La Mala Compañia, the result of a partnership between Magno Entertainment and Msp –will be presented in Cannes as one of the Gala Screenings at the Fantastic Pavilion, a brand new hub for the genre community at the Marché du Film. Sula Entertainment and Morbido TV are also on board.
“We want ‘While the Masters Sleep’ to introduce this new label. [It will be] focusing on genre films with a big audience potential, but trying to achieve this goal without losing the ideas and virtues of independent films. All the while shaking up the codes of classic horror films,” producer Joaquim Vivas said of La Mala Compañía.

"Ted Lasso" is not just a great show about kindness and mental health, and it's not just a hilarious fish-out-water comedy that pokes fun and British and Americanisms. It's also a massive love letter to football culture, to players, managers, fans, and even those who cover it professionally. This season may be a bit sadder than usual, but it still exudes sheer joy when portraying the game.
Whether its small things like including (and even constantly cutting away to) a group of fans at the local pub who initially make fun of AFC Richmond and Ted Lasso before eventually coming to root for the team and its coach, to references to real teams and players, "Ted Lasso" does a lot to both educate newcomers on "the beautiful game" as well as give nods to life long fans.

"Ted Lasso," the Apple TV+ breakout comedy hit, is finally back for more kindness, more Roy Kent, and more football goodness. Even though the World Cup is over, the football fever never stops.
Indeed, season 3 sees AFC Richmond reach the big leagues and play in the Premier League, with the season finally having a good sense of direction. But kindness, shortbread, and a good attitude are not enough to make it in the big leagues against the big teams. You need something else. The answer, as the latest episode seems to indicate, is a football superstar with an ego to match — Zava. In episode two, the former Juventus player decides to join Richmond after getting his ego struck and being promised to be the team's biggest superstar.
Zava rules. He is instantly a standout character, a memorable player with incredible skills and a personality to match. Even if Jamie Tartt is hurt and jealous,...

There’s a new star on the pitch. The third episode of Ted Lasso’s third season introduced a soccer player so famous he goes by a one-word moniker — Zava.
Played by Agents of Shield star Maximilian Osinski, Zava will have more screen time as the season unfolds, and the actor is still pinching himself. “I couldn’t believe it at first,” says Osinski, who is married to actress Dichen Lachman, featured on another Apple TV+ hit, Severance. “You watch a show for two years as a fan and never imagine that one day you’ll be in a scene standing opposite Jason Sudeikis.”
Co-creator Brendan Hunt, an executive producer who also plays Coach Beard, says Zava was inspired by some of the sport’s “more colorful divas” including “a lot” of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. “Zlatan is among the most unique of that breed of God-gifted lunatic.”
The Swedish superstar, who now plays for A.
