'Shakti' (2002): Nandini (Karisma Kapoor) and Shekhar (Sanjay Kapoor) are happily married, raising their child Raja (Jai Gidwani) in Canada with Nandini’s uncles. But their peaceful world is shattered when violence rocks the Indian region of Rajasthan, where Shekhar’s family lives. When they visit his relatives, Nandini discovers that her in-laws are involved in the region’s local gang wars. Shekhar tries to stop the violence, but it only escalates, resulting in Shekhar’s death. His father Narishma (Nana Patekar) tries to hold Nandini and her son captive, insisting that Raja is now the heir to the family legacy. Nandini, fearing for her child’s future and her own life, escapes with the boy and attempts to make it back to Canada with the help of a street urchin, Jaisingh (Shahrukh Khan), an underdeveloped character that provides some comic relief but ultimately seems like an excuse for a Shahrukh cameo.
