Exclusive: Paramount’s genre division Paramount Players has tapped Night Teeth and I See You filmmaker Adam Randall to direct the horror pic Curfew.
The former Blood List entry follows a rebellious teenage girl who is sent to stay with her grandmother in a sleepy town whose quirky traditions include a curfew banning anyone from going out at night. When the girl ventures out after dark she discovers the murky truth behind the town’s mysterious history.
Randall told us: “This is a fun monster movie that harks back to Amblin movies of yore. There is an intriguing conflict between the teenage girl and the older generations but it also has the thrills and action of a monster movie. It’s a great script.”
Script comes from Isa Mazzei (Cam). Jaki Bradley and Kevin Armento did previous revisions. Dick Grunert wrote the original spec that made it onto the 2017 Blood List.

The Jumpcut Cafe has long been the hangout spot for the horror crowd in Hollywood, and for very good reason. Not only does the cafe feature screenings of both popular and hard to find classic horror films, but it also showcases new films by some of the most exciting young talents working in Hollywood today. Curator Elric Kane has a very eclectic taste in movies, and is a smart programmer who reaches far into the indie horror community find the best, most cutting-edge short films possible. What follows are my favorite films of the night, in no particular order.
Far Out, directed by Phil Mucci, opened the night. Far Out is a, well, far out vampire flick that takes place during the swinging sixties. The film perfectly captures the mood and look of a space age, mod bachelor pad shindig. Far out is a fun, at times...

Adventure Time scribe Dick Grunert brings us "Scary Mask," the latst short film in ShockTillYouDrop.com's exclusive Halloween Night series.
"I wanted to do something that played more like a dark comedy, with equal doses of horror and comedy," Grunert says. His short film concerns a party crasher who invades the wrong Halloween party. You can watch it inside!
Although Grunert writes for a popular Cartoon Network series, he says his true love is horror. In addition to "Scary Mask," he created the anthology radio drama "Dead of Night Radio," now on iTunes. His screenplay, Community Service of the Damned, was named one of the 5 Best Un-Produced Screenplays at the 2013 Los Angeles Fear and Fantasy Film Festival, and his latest screenplay, Inhumane, made the Quarter-Finals at the 2013 Eerie Horror Film Festival.

Then this past year at E3, it happened again. This time it was a giant inflatable dog that went all the way to the top of the fifty-foot show room ceiling. Once again, I was told what show this was from, and again I was told I should watch. Of course, I did no such thing. It wasn’t until I accidentally stumbled upon Adventure Time one night that I realized what a stubborn fool I’d been.
Now I’ve become a full on Adventure Time fanatic, quoting episodes and perfecting an incredible Lumpy Space Princess imitation. With adult humor carefully hidden beneath childhood themes and subtle horror influences throughout, I’m ashamed of how long it took me to come around to the appeal of this show.
Good thing, because Adventure Time’s writer Dick Grunert is a massive horror and Fango fan. Grunert invited Fangoria to Cartoon Network...
