Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino (“The Batman”) is making the leap to the director’s chair. Giacchino will make his feature directorial debut on Marvel Studios’ yet-untitled Halloween special.
Golden Globe-winning Mexican actor Gael García Bernal set to lead the cast of the werewolf-focused show that will air on Disney+.
Production on the Halloween special is set to begin later this month.
Giacchino previously directed the 2018 short film “Monster Challenge” and an episode of the animated series “Star Trek: Short Treks,” but the Marvel film will mark his feature debut.
While details about the project are being kept strictly under wraps, individuals with knowledge say the character may be based on “Werewolf by Night,” the name used by two separate Marvel characters.
The first, Jack Russell, was created by Gerry Conway and Mike Ploog, based on concepts by Stan Lee and Roy Thomas, and first appeared in a 1972 issue of “Marvel Spotlight.

Marvel Studios is searching for a Latino actor to lead an untitled Halloween special for Disney Plus, Variety has confirmed.
The special could be based on “Werewolf by Night,” which would denote two separate characters in the Marvel comic book universe. The first, Jack Russell, debuted in the comic “Marvel Spotlight #2” in February 1972. Russell has a family history of lycanthropy — or the supernatural transformation of a human into a wolf — but uses his power for good, and is able to remain aware of his transformations.
The second character, Jake Gomez, was introduced into the Marvel universe last year in the comic “Werewolf by Night (Vol. 3) #1.” Created by Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas, Scot Eaton and Benjamin Jackendoff, Gomez is described to be a descendant of the Native American tribe Hopi who has been cursed with lycanthropy, also through his lineage.
Though it is unconfirmed if the character will be based on “Werewolf by Night,...

Writer, director, producer Jon Schnepp is best known for his work creating the beloved show "Metalocalypse," but he’s buzzing about his new project: Hail to the King, an animated series of shorts created as a prequel to metal band Avenged Sevenfold’s upcoming iPhone game.
The entire six-episode series of Hail to the King can be seen right now on Machinima.com's Happy Hour Channel.
Schnepp is no stranger to the metal scene, creating the legendary band Dethklok for "Metalocalypse," so he was very excited to work with Avenged Sevenfold. "I got contacted by Machinima, and they asked me if I'd be interested in working with Avenged Sevenfold on this animated prequel to their iPhone game [Hail to the King: Deathbat] that also ties in with their album," Schnepp said. "This was back in April of this year. So I listened to a bunch of Avenged Sevenfold songs; I hadn't heard their new songs yet.

There are a number of popular amped up fairy tale projects out there right now. One need look no further than NBC's "Grimm" or ABC's "Once Upon a Time." However, Zenescope Entertainment's comic series Grimm Fairy Tales is about to take things to a whole new level.
"Metalocalypse" director Jon Schnepp is teaming with Titmouse Animation Studio, Benjamin Jackendoff and Zenescope to create an animated project based on the long running Grimm Fairy Tales comic book series. "Ben and I had done a couple of horror shorts over the last two years," Schnepp said. "He started working for a company called Zenescope and was like, 'Yo, dude, you've gotta check out this company. I had been doing 'Metalocalypse' for eight years and wanted to do something on my own that's like a Heavy Metal movie, so I started writing this horror anthology movie. Ben was like, 'You...

Combining elements of cyberpunk, horror, media saturation and reality TV and set on the devastated planet of Mort, the Scottish role-playing game Sla Industries (pronounced 'slay') now hopes to make a killing on the big screen.
Romark Entertainment has announced it has acquired the film and television rights to Nightfall Games' critically-acclaimed release. A movie adaptation is already in the pipeline.
As part of the acquisition, Romark and Sla creators Dave Allsop and Jared Earle are also announcing a partnership to expand the 20-year series into the comic book, video game and art worlds.
Independently released in 1993, Sla Industries is set in a futuristic dystopia where players, wielding advanced weaponry and arcane abilities, take on the roles of Operatives working for an omnipresent and ruthless corporation hellbent on controlling the universe.
In the game, appearance, style and branding are emphasised just as much as combat, politics and subterfuge.
