This article contains spoilers through Stranger Things season 4 and The Walking Dead.
To kill or not to kill? This is the question so many shows with large ensemble casts wrestle with as the tensions rise and the stakes become fatal deeper into the series. The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones took great pleasure in cutting down leading players like blades of grass in the springtime sun. It kept viewers on their toes, but it also hindered the strength of the respective casts. When too many fan favorites are whacked, it tests the loyalty of the people watching at home and the skills of the writers and directors to form a coherent story with the crumbs that remain.
Stranger Things weighs in on the other end of the spectrum. The Duffer Brothers have kept essentially every cherished character locked into the show from the debut season to the most recent one.

Before his Stranger Things fame, David Harbour did many small and significant character roles in several films and TV series. Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds was one project he could never forget due to a major disappointment. If you don’t remember seeing him in the sci-fi flick starring Tom Cruise, that’s because he was cut from the film. While Harbour accepted his fate, he was probably hurt by the fact that Spielberg had no memory of working with him in the film.
Black Widow star David Harbour revealed his unfortunate encounter with director Steven Spielberg
Harbour has two major projects in his current slate. He will reprise his Red Guardian role from Marvel’s Black Widow in the upcoming film Thunderbolts*. Harbour has also started filming his fan-favorite role as Jim Hopper for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things.

After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things finally went into production at the start of the year and is now three months into its twelve month shooting schedule… but in the midst of filming, Finn Wolfhard is also doing the press rounds to promote the Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, which is set to reach theatres on March 22nd. An interview with The Hollywood Reporter was part of his press tour, and during that conversation, Wolfhard was asked about the ongoing production of Stranger Things season 5, which will also be the final season of the show. Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer, who are known as the Duffer Brothers, are shooting down a theory about the series finale.
After five seasons of fighting demons from The Upside-Down, the Netflix sci-fi series is coming to an end. The show’s fifth and final season was delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes and fans have been speculating about how the series will conclude.
One theory that has been circling among the most die-hard fans of the show is that none of the events have ever existed. The theory relies on the main characters playing a big, long and convoluted game of Dungeons and Dragons.
“That is correct. That is the ending…. No,” Matt jokingly told Metro at the West End premiere of Stranger Things: The First Shadow about the fan theory.
Ross added, “That would be the equivalent of, ‘That’s all a dream.

Exclusive: The Stranger Things stage show, an unbelievably brilliant new blueprint for theatricality that premieres in London’s West End tonight, will be the first installment in a trilogy exploring the dark underbelly of Hawkins, Indiana.
Breaking Baz can reveal that parts two and three are set to follow the inaugural play, Stranger Things: The First Shadow, in two- or three-year intervals, according to insiders associated with the production. The stage sequels will launch in London first.
Meanwhile, there are already plans for Stranger Things: The First Shadow to transfer to Broadway.
None of that’s official yet, of course. Producers and backers will study reviews out on Friday and across the weekend and the box office receipts before green-lighting any further productions.

David added that the actors strike, which lasted 118 days, took a toll on him.

With the actors strike now in the rearview mirror, Hollywood productions will be ramping up once again in the coming weeks — including for the highly anticipated final season of Stranger Things.
Star David Harbour confirmed that he will soon be returning to set, acknowledging that in the 24 hours since the strike ended he’s been “getting a lot of calls” about getting his schedule set.
“I just love that show and I love that [Jim Hopper] character so much; it’s the last season and I’m looking forward to just diving in with my whole heart into this guy that, certainly career wise, has made a huge difference in my life but personally, has been the character in film and TV who I’ve loved the most, that I’ve fallen in love with,” Harbour told The Hollywood Reporter at Thursday night’s BoxLunch Holiday Gala. “I’m excited...

The fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was supposed to go into production right around the time the writers strike hit earlier this year – so it had to be put on hold, and then there was another reason for it to stay on hold when the actors strike hit. When the writers strike ended in September, finishing the Stranger Things season 5 scripts was one of Netflix’s top priorities. And now that the actors strike has come to an end, Stranger Things season 5 is finally about to head into production. In fact, cast member David Harbour says it’s going to start filming in just a couple days!
Variety caught to Harbour at a BoxLunch Gala honoring Feeding America. When asked what comes first on his post-strike agenda, he said, “I mean, we got to film that last season of Stranger Things, don’t we?...

The SAG-AFTRA strike has officially ended, and David Harbour is ready to return to Hawkins as the beloved, curmudgeonly police chief Jim Hopper.
On the red carpet for the BoxLunch Gala honoring Feeding America, where Harbour was named the Giving Ambassador, he expressed his excitement to return to the set of “Stranger Things.” He relayed a sense of urgency to get back to work, sharing that production could resume in just “a couple of days.”
When asked what comes first on his post-strike agenda, Harbour said, “I mean, we got to film that last season of ‘Stranger Things,’ don’t we? I got to be down there, like, in a couple of days. We got to get going — we’re late.”

Season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things is also going to be the final season of the show. It was supposed to be deep into production by now, but it has been slowed down due to the Hollywood strikes – first the writers strike, then the ongoing actors strike. It remains to be seen when filming is going to begin, but yesterday, November 6, 2023, was the 40th anniversary of the day Will Byers went missing in the town of Hawkins, Indiana in the first season of Stranger Things. So the show’s writers marked the occasion by sharing the first lines from the first episode of season 5 on social media:

It might be awhile before we get to see Stranger Things season 5. Production on the fifth and final season of the Netflix juggernaut has been delayed, first by the Writers Guild of America’s (WGA) strike for an equitable contract from Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) and then again by the Screen Actors Guild’s strike action against AMPTP (seems as though there is one common denominator in these two work stoppages…).
Though the WGA strike has been resolved and Sga seems well on its way to be, there will still be a lot of filming to get through before Stranger Things season 5 can get a Netflix release date. For all we know, the youth of Hawkins, Indiana might be well into their 20s by the time we get to see the ’80s horror/sci-fi saga come to an end.

While much time still stands before the conclusion to the Duffer Brothers’ “Stranger Things” Netflix series, with Season 5 awaiting a deal for its actors, the prequel play — “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” — will give audiences a glimpse further into the past and the origins of the Upside Down.
Set in 1959 Hawkins, the play will focus on the arrival of Henry Creel to “a regular town with regular worries.” Teenage Jim Hopper, Bob Newby and Joyce Maldonado also star, as does a younger Dr. Martin Brenner (Patrick Vaill), who began the cruel experiments on Young Henry.
As with any new iteration of “Stranger Things,” there’s a new crucial character — this time, it’s Patty Newby (Ella Karuna Williams). There is also a Principal Newby (Matthew Pigeon), but that figure is of less importance to the plot.
“The main thrust of the story is Patty and her little budding romance with Henry,...

Fans of “Stranger Things” can now get a close look at the process behind “The First Shadow,” the stage adaptation that’s soon hitting London’s West End.
In time for what Netflix calls “Stranger Things” Day — the date that Will Byers (Noah Schnapp in the TV series) went missing in Season 1 — the streamer released a video giving a preview into “Stranger Things: The First Shadow.” This comes after Netflix’s recent reveal of the first images from the play, which showed Henry Creel (Louis McCartney) standing off with Dr. Brenner (Patrick Vaill), Lonnie Byers (Chase Brown) holding Joyce Maldonado (Isabella Pappas) and more.
In the featurette, key creatives discuss how the “The First Shadow” came together and what it entails, including playwright Kate Trefry, who teases, “There are so many Easter eggs. It’s Easter morning.”

Stranger Things shocked people when its first season was released back in 2016, but season 5 is going to blow everybody’s mind. When can we expect the last and final season? Will Vecna be defeated? Is somebody going to die…? Yes, this may be dramatic, but who knows what the Duffer Brothers has in store for us. EP Shawn Levy promises that what we’ll get in Stranger Things Season 5 will rival any blockbuster. So, in honor of Stranger Things Day let’s look at what we can expect in the upcoming and final fifth season.
Plot: Where will the season take place?
We already know that the storyline will be taken place in Hawkins only. Since the ending of season 4, Vecna remains the strongest source of power that is alive and succeeding to do otherwise to innocent, vulnerable, and hurt individuals. This post contains spoilers for "Stranger Things" season 4.
Season 4 of "Stranger Things" went to some wild places, especially with a new, tentacled threat looming over an already-doomed Hawkins. This particular season heightened the stakes like never before. This was the first time we saw the kids scattered across states, while adults like Jim Hopper (David Harbour) found themselves trapped in a Russian prison with no hope of escape in sight. With frequent deaths peppered across the course of nine episodes, there was a need to often change locales, which were mostly new and strange to suit the tone of the season -- such as the ominous Creel house and the abandoned shack Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) hid in after being suspected of murder.
While these interior sequences were comparatively easier to film, every scene involving water proved to be a menace for the camera and cinematography department. As the position...

A few months ago, it was announced that 10 Cloverfield Lane and Prey director Dan Trachtenberg will be directing an episode of Stranger Things season 5 – which also happens to be the final season of the hugely popular Netflix streaming series. That season was supposed to be deep into production by now, but has been delayed several months due to the writers and actors strikes. The writers strike recently ended, now we just need the actors strike to come to an end so Stranger Things can get rolling. While waiting for his chance to report to the Stranger Things set, Trachtenberg has been doing the press rounds to promote the physical media release of his Predator movie Prey… and during a conversation with Collider, he talked about signing on to bring an episode of Stranger Things to the screen and working with the show’s creators The Duffer Brothers.

Stranger Things star Joe Keery has “very convoluted” feelings about his time in Hawkins coming to an end.
During a recent interview with Women’s Wear Daily, conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike, the actor and musician said, “It does feel like it’s time” but “it won’t be easy for it to end.”

David Harbour has seen scripts from Stranger Things’ fifth and final season, and from what he says about those pages, the Netflix hit’s endgame won’t disappoint. “They’re terrific, as per usual,” the actor, who plays Jim Hopper on the show, says of the scripts in a Happy Sad Confused podcast interview conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike. “They continue to outdo themselves, these currently-on-strike writers called the Duffer Brothers.” The fifth season — which will pick up sometime after the destruction of Hawkins, Indiana, seen in the Season 4 finale — is “a hell of an undertaking,” Harbour says. “I mean, the set pieces and the things in the scripts that we saw are bigger than anything we’ve done in the past,” he adds. “After where season 4 ended — when you watch us on that hill looking at the ash and the smoke and fires — we’re going to start somewhere after that,...

David Harbour is hinting at what “Stranger Things” fans can expect from the final season.
The actor, who plays police chief Jim Hopper on the hit Netflix series, explained during the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast that while Season 5 will not pick up immediately following the events of the Season 4 finale, the last installment is definitely worth waiting for.
“After where Season 4 ended — when you watch us on that hill looking at the ash and the smoke fires — we’re going to start somewhere after that,” Harbour said. “So you’ve got to imagine the world is a different place.”
As for the final episode, Harbour added, “I know what it is. I know where we net out and it’s very, very moving. That is the term I will use.”

While the final season of “Stranger Things” continues to be delayed by Hollywood labor disputes, David Harbour confirmed that he received the Season 5 scripts prior to the writers strike, teasing that the ending is “very moving.”
Harbour said on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast that while he hasn’t read the final ending yet, he knows generally how the story resolves. “I know what it is,” he said of the ending, in an interview conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike. “I know where we net out and it’s very, very moving. The fifth and final season of Netflix’s Stranger Things, like so many other projects, has seen an indefinite delay due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike, since coupled with that surrounding SAG-AFTRA. As fans continue to have no choice but to slow their anticipation, some of the show’s stars have thoughts on the excitement of Stranger Things’ farewell season and the opportunities that it will offer.
