NBC may have cancelled Saving Hope after one season but the medical drama continues to prosper north of the border. CTV has renewed the series for a third season.
They've ordered 18 new installments which will bring series' episode total to 49 episodes. Production will begin in the spring and the remainder of season two episodes will start airing this January. The summer portion of the second season drew an average of 1.3 million viewers.
Saving Hope's cast includes Erica Durance, Michael Shanks, Daniel Gillies, Wendy Crewson, Huse Madhavji, Julia Taylor-Ross, Kristopher Turner, Michelle Nolden, and Benjamin Ayres.

The apprentice electrician from Maitland in New South Wales won a prize package of Au$$100,000 (£66,668), a book deal and the chance to work with some of Australia's foremost chefs. On June 7, we'll meet the doctors of Saving Hope, a drama that stars Michael Shanks as the coma-ridden Chief of Surgery who actually wanders the halls of his hospital... as a ghost? As a figment of his own imagination? That's the question at the heart of the series.

NBC To Pick Up Canadian Medical Drama Series ‘Saving Hope’ For Summer Los Angeles/Toronto, On (March 1, 2012) –Independent studio Entertainment One and Canada’s television network CTV have jointly announced that NBC has come on board as the U. S. broadcaster of Ilana C Frank Films’ new one-hour original drama series, Saving Hope. In November, CTV announced it had ordered 12 one-hour episodes of the series, joining a pilot shot last summer. Premiering this summer on CTV and NBC, principal photography is set to begin March 12 in Toronto. In addition to acting as the deficit financier, eOne will also handle the international television distribution of the series in all media including all television, DVD/Blu-ray, VOD and digital exploitation. NBC is eyeing Canadian medical series Saving Hope for its summer schedule. The fast-paced Toronto hospital drama centers on a chief of surgery (Michael Shanks) whose sudden illness leaves the medical facility in chaos, and his doctor wife (Erica Durance) in shock. Thirteen episodes of the show's first season were ordered by CTV.
