It is no secret that Gears of War E-Day‘s reveal surprised fans. While there were rumors regarding the game being included in the 2024 Xbox Showcase lineup by industry insiders like Paris Lilly, no one saw a prequel dating back to the Emergence being announced.
This move by The Coalition was something that fans weren’t expecting in the slightest. That is because, since Gears of War 4, the series has been focusing on a different story arc. So, there must have been a profound reason why the studio chose to forsake the Gears 4 trilogy midway.

Gears of War: E-Day is the upcoming prequel title set to chronicle the horrific events of Emergence Day. One of the most disastrous moments of humankind’s history, was when the Locust Horde erupted from beneath Sera and thrust humanity into a struggle for survival.
The prequel is set to give a new origin story to the iconic Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago, but who else will be in the game? The speculation is running rampant already and one of the possible characters to join Marcus and Dom is none other than Corporal Tai Kaliso from Gears of War 2.

Fans got excited after one of the highlights during the Xbox Games Showcase turned out to be Gears of War E-Day. It’s not exactly what they expected out of the series, but it will explore Emergence Day, the event that gave rise to the narrative as we know it.
The first three games featuring the beloved protagonist, Marcus Fenix, were developed by American video game designer Cliff Bleszinski. Needless to say, he was pivotal for the game’s development as the trilogy raked in over a billion dollars in revenue and sold 22 million copies globally.

The upcoming Xbox Games Showcase on June 9 is set to be a megaton as it’ll be the first to feature the full trinity of the brand’s own studios, Bethesda, and Activision Blizzard. Moreover, there will also be a 45-minute presentation right after the show, which many speculate is for Call of Duty Gulf War.
Several rumors have been swirling about the games that will show up in the main event, though, and it seems Gears of War fans are encouraged to tune in, as the long-awaited Gears of War 6 could make its debut here, marking five years since Gears 5 launched in 2019.

Gears of War is one of the most notable Xbox franchises in recent history and fans are excited for the next installment. The series has gone through quite some changes and it has deviated from its roots and the community has found a solution to make the sequel feel more familiar.
The gaming community misses the dark and gritty feel of the first few games in the franchise and hopes to see the same atmosphere return in the latest entry. Perhaps the key to the success of the video game series is pure nostalgia.
Gears of War 6 Should Take a Trip Down Memory Lane
Gears of War 6 is currently in active development over at The Coalition Studio.
Sequels can either elevate the franchise or take a wrong turn and lead it to an irredeemable ditch of disappointment. The Coalition Studio is doing its absolute best to bring an authentic gaming experience.

There are few directors or personalities inside the video game industry who can really make anything they want without asking questions. One of those names is Hideo Kojima, creator of Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding. This Japanese creator made games reach a new level of originality.
Unfortunately, there are not all great ideas; there was a time when this director had some wacky ideas that fans wouldn’t like. This project was a zombie online game that would have required players to pay for multiple accounts in order to keep playing.
A Great Director Does Not Always Have Amazing Ideas Hideo Kojima had some ideas in the past that were no good at all.

Few directors and creatives survive after their first big success; people like Ken Levine, Glen Schofield, and Cliff Bleszinski were not so lucky after the success of their greatest IP. Once Gears of War was behind Cliffy B, the director tried several times to make a new great game.

Fallout is the latest video game franchise to receive a live-action adaptation, and early reactions have been mostly positive. Perhaps other studios and developers should take notes of how Amazon Prime was able to pull off a successful series and avoid the mistakes Paramount made with Halo.
Live-action adaptations can be a hit-and-miss, but Gears of War is the one game fans have been begging for and Microsoft better not drop the ball once again.

A glimpse into the next Gears of War might just be a couple of months away. The Coalition, the developers of the game, are said to be working on one, and rumors suggest it will be the continuation of the last mainline game’s story. In 2021, The Coalition seemingly parted ways from Gears 5 for an unrevealed project on Unreal Engine 5. The project might be a savior for Xbox, since there are rumors about a new console. This project appears to be the next Gears of War game, as some Xbox job listings by Microsoft suggest. The speculations arise from the latest conversation with insider Jeff Grubb on Kinda Funny Xcast.
The first three games in the series revolve around the protagonist, Marcus Fenix, while the next main title follows the story of his son, James Dominic Fenix, and then his friend, Kait Diaz. Cliff Bleszinski, who designed the first three installments, drew inspiration from games like Resident Evil 4, Kill Switch, and Bionic Commando.

Gears of War is one of the most popular franchises exclusive to Xbox. The franchise began in 2006 and has seen numerous installments since then. However, the latest mainline game in the series dates back to 2019.
Since then, various Xbox exclusives have disappeared from the relevance compass because of their boundless mediocrity. Xbox doesn’t seem to have an answer for exclusive titles released on its arch-rival, Sony’s console lineup. However, as per some industry insiders, this might change, and the Gears of War franchise might see another installment reasonably soon.

Gears of War has been a strong asset and recognizable franchise of Xbox for many years and after a quick chat and interview with former game developer Cliff Bleszinski, he now reveals that he is very much open to the possibility of returning.
The franchise could strongly benefit from a former developer who left and experienced more from outside the studio that can help reshape and improve the beloved franchise.
Game developers who left their former workplaces to pursue other opportunities are not uncommon. Most of those who returned were embraced and welcomed with open arms and their newfound knowledge and experiences were crucial to the studio’s growth like Cory Barlog and Santa Monica Studio, who went on to direct the soft reboot of God of War.

Fortnite may have become a pop culture phenomenon, but it is not for CliffyB. When Xbox launched its second console, the Xbox 360, one game changed it all. After languishing in development purgatory for years, the ‘Gears of War’ movie is finally getting its time in the limelight, thanks to Netflix. This film adaptation of the iconic video game series is stirring excitement among fans, especially with whispers about potential castings and direction. Cliff Bleszinski, the genius behind the game, voiced his endorsement for Zack Snyder to take the director’s seat in a chat with ComicBook.com. He’s confident that Snyder’s knack for molding existing IPs would work wonders for the adaptation.
However, Bleszinski’s praise for Snyder has its caveats. While he appreciated Snyder’s classics like the ‘Dawn of the Dead’ remake and ‘300’, he wasn’t particularly taken with ‘Army of the Dead,’ a recent Netflix endeavor by the director. Yet, Bleszinski’s belief in Snyder’s capability for Gears remains unshaken.

It was announced last year that Netflix had acquired the rights to the Gears of War video game franchise and would be partnering with The Coalition, the developer behind the series, to develop a live-action movie as well as an animated series. It remains to be seen who will direct the Gears of War movie, but franchise creator Cliff Bleszinski said that Zack Snyder would be a great fit for the job.
“To be frank, I think Zack Snyder is an amazing director when he is working with existing IP,” Cliff Bleszinski told ComicBook.com. “I think when he did, I think it was the Dawn of the Dead remake, some of his superhero movies, when he did 300. As an adaptation, 300 defined a whole genre of [filmmaking], the slow-mo and the fast pans.” That said, Bleszinski added that he thought Army of the Dead was “terrible” and said he actually turned it off halfway through.

In keeping with the Twitter truism that “there’s always a tweet” posted by Donald Trump before he took office that can be applied to his current administration, some Twitter users have been circulating an old Trump tweet where he talked about “riots and looting.”

When Disney acquired Fox, it didn’t just shake up the film and TV industry, but it also deprived gamers of two new Alien titles that could very well have reignited the franchise. These projects had a lot of potential, but were effectively canceled when the House of Mouse took control.
Two developers have unveiled concepts for their Alien games that never got to see the light of day this week. Both of the canceled projects’ premises sound very intriguing, too, and could have been some impressive additions to the vast library of Alien titles released for gamers.
Not too long ago, it was revealed that prominent developer Cliff Bleszinski and his studio were in talks to create a first-person shooter with the main character being Newt from Aliens. This version of her would’ve been all grown up and living on Earth, completely ignoring the events of Alien 3.

Fox had at least two Aliens games in development before the company was sold to Disney.
Games based on the popular James Cameron film Aliens are a bit like buses: you wait for ages for them and they don't turn up, and you later learn there were meant to be two of them on the way. Okay, maybe that metaphor doesn't work, but please stick with us here because this news is quite interesting: it sounds a lot like Fox was developing at least two Aliens games before the company was bought out by Disney.
We've learned this today because of a surprising Twitter exchange between developers from different companies. The revelations began when Cliff Bleszinski posted a Tweet to reveal that Boss Key Productions, before they went bust, had been talking to Fox about developing an Aliens game.

Following the closure of video game developer Boss Key Productions in 2018, founder and studio head Cliff Bleszinski decided enough was enough.
The poor commercial performance of both LawBreakers and Radical Heights had all but convinced the former Epic Games employee and Gears of War creator to apply his talents elsewhere, most notably in theatre production. While Bleszinski may have closed that chapter on his professional life, he recently took the time to discuss one potentially hugely successful project that sadly never came to be.
Recalling the events leading up to its eventual failure to materialize, Bleszinski reveals that Boss Key had at one point in time been in talks with Fox to create an Aliens video game. In light of Creative Assembly’s success with Alien: Isolation, the movie heavyweight was eager to keep the streak going with further adventures, to which Bleszinski responded in kind with his own pitch.

Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski worked on a prototype for a fascinating Alien adaptation.
Infamous Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski has revealed via Twitter that he was once part of discussions that may have led to a unique Alien action game.
"Funfact: Before Bkp shut down we were in talks to do a new game in the Aliens franchise with Fox," says Bleszinski via Twitter. "Then Disney bought them and that got lost in the shuffle, darnit."
That's interesting and all that, but what's really catching everyone's attention is that Bleszinski's concept for the title would have seen you play as Newt from Aliens.

When is a dance a dance and not just a move, and can you copyright it?
That seems to be the lynchpin question in a series of lawsuits filed this month against “Fortnite” creator Epic Games by a rapper, an actor, and an Instagram star.
Brooklyn rapper 2 Milly, former “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” star Alfonso Ribeiro, and Instagram’s “Backpack Kid” all filed suits this month against Epic Games, saying the developer copied each of their trademark dance moves, put them in “Fortnite” as an animation, and sold them to millions of players, without permission.
But can you copyright a dance? Who is Backpack Kid? What is “Fortnite?” There’s a lot to unpack here.

Neill Blomkamp, the creative mind behind District 9, Elysium and Chappie, has announced that RoboCop Returns will be rated R. And that it will contain plenty of exploding squibs… kind of.
Over on Twitter (h/t Bloody Disgusting), former Gears of War dev Cliff Bleszinski took a moment to celebrate Wednesday’s big reveal, before asking Neill Blomkamp if his upcoming sequel will be rated R with plenty of satire. His answer? Yes to both.
So, yes, there will be blood, as Neill Blomkamp and his team prepare to craft a direct sequel to the classic RoboCop movie of 1987. Paul Verhoeven was the brains behind that seminal film, one that’s often credited as one of Hollywood’s first major cyberpunk movies alongside Blade Runner, so it’s fair to say that Blomkamp has some pretty big boots to fill if he’s to honor the legacy of Omnicorp’s greatest ever invention.

Servers for “LawBreakers” will go dark in September, Cliff Bleszinski’s Boss Key Productions announced in a statement on Monday. The game is free to play in the interim.
“In light of the unfortunate news regarding Boss Key Productions shutting down, we regret to announce that we will be sunsetting our support of LawBreakers on September 14, 2018, as we are not able to operate the game,” Boss Key said. “Our servers will remain open until then and the game will be made free-to-play on Steam for all players effective immediately. Please note that any and all new in-game purchases will also be disabled and we will not be able to accept any refund requests.”
The statement goes on to thank players for their support and understanding. “Thank you for staying with us throughout this journey,” it says.

“Lawbreakers” and “Radical Heights” studio Boss Key Productions is “effectively no more,” according to co-founder Cliff Bleszinski. He shared the news on Twitter Monday.

Boss Key’s first game, an online shooter called “Lawbreakers,” came out in August 2017 to generally favorable reviews but failed to grow a strong player base. Two months after launch, it reportedly had a concurrent player count of only 10. Publisher Nexon blamed its poor performance on the explosive popularity of battle royale title “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds,” claiming it made the market environment very tough for first-person shooters in general.
Boss Key announced in April it was halting development on “Lawbreakers” and refocusing its efforts on its own battle royale game, “Radical Heights.” But, Bleszinski said today it wasn’t enough to save the studio.

Earlier this week, rapper and actor Ice-t teased on Twitter that “Gears of War” news was incoming. Now, we know what it is — he’s reprising his role as Aaron Griffin in “Gears of War 4,” developer the Coalition revealed Thursday.
Starting April 20, players can earn the character in-game by completing a new timed achievement called the “Aaron Griffin Challenge.” They’ll have to earn 750 kills any way they see fit in either Public Versus mode (including Co-Op vs. Bots) or in public and private Horde matches. The Coalition said it’s a cumulative total, not per-mode type.
Players can track their progress in real-time via the Challenge tab under “Gears of War 4’s” achievements or via the Get Griffin challenge page. Once they get the required number of kills, they can head here and sign in with their Gamertag to unlock Griffin and instantly add him to their accounts.

Boss Key Productions co-founder Cliff Bleszinski tweeted Friday that former employer Epic Games is trying to poach his current staff.
“Hey @epicgames, could you please stop trying to hire away my team?” he wrote. “We just launched @Radical_Heights on #UE4 and are really happy with how it’s going.”

Epic Games helped popularize the battle royale genre last year with its megahit “Fortnite.” Boss Key Productions launched its own free-to-play ’80s-themed battle royale shooter, “Radical Heights,” last week. It’s in what Boss Key is calling “X-Treme Early Access,” which means it still needs a lot of work. It doesn’t even have female character avatars yet. Details regarding start times, content and general information relating to gameplay will be shared during the PC Gaming Show at E3, itself pegged for June 13 at 11:30am Pst/2:30pm Est. Former Epic Games and Gears of War developer Cliff Bleszinski has weighed in on the hot-button topic of single-player campaigns in first-person shooters and, specifically, just how expensive those lavish and heavily-scripted components tend to be.
More recently, we’ve seen the likes of Titanfall, Evolve and Dice’s high-profile licensed title Star Wars Battlefront ditch a campaign in favor of doubling down on the multiplayer component. For Bleszinski, those solo experiences included in the genre are often viewed as disposable add-ons that you “burn though in a weekend.”
Speaking to PC Gamer, the esteemed developer touched base on the matter of incorporating single-player campaigns into the Fps genre.

Guns, gangs and gravity will act as the three fundamental pillar in Lawbreakers, the all-new IP coming by way of Cliff Bleszinski (of Gears of War fame) and Boss Key studios.
Pegged for a release at some point in 2016, the project was unveiled by the company during a Twitch livestream two days ago, and now we have the official gameplay trailer to boot. Boss Key’s title is in essence an arena-based shooter, which has quickly become one of the hottest trends of the moment in the wake of Battleborn and Blizzard’s Overwatch.
But there’s a story tying the on-screen mayhem together. Set in the year 2105, Lawbreakers imagines a society that has lived through an event known as The Shattering. When the world’s leading governments begin mysterious testing on the moon, it leads to our rocky neighbour cracking in two, radically altering the gravity on planet Earth.

Out of this disaster, a new age technological advancements emerged in the field of gravity manipulation that allows for near-superhuman abilities. As a result, the world is now divided into two factions who are at war for control.
Veteran video game developers Cliff Bleszinski ("Gears of War") and Arjan Brussee ("Killzone") are behind the project which will hit sometime next year.

People will know the opinionated Cliff from Gears of War and this is his new studios first game. The title is a free-to-play PC title that was originally titled Project Blue Streak and is now officially titled LawBreakers.
The game is 5v5 arena style combat with gravity perks. The developer explains that "people never want to be on the ground" as the game is very vertical with gravity manipulation, grappling hooks, and other ways to move about.
The trailer mentions it, but the game revolves around two teams. The Laws and the Breakers, makes sense right? He explained the game as something that will appeal to a large audience and is filled with gangs, guns, and gravity.
The game runs on Unreal Engine 4. LawBreakers will release in 2016 for PC, and possibly after for consoles.

Despite the fact that the project is still incubating in the early stages of development, industry veteran Cliff Bleszinski has showcased a slice of pre-alpha footage for his upcoming arena shooter.
Currently tethered with the Project BlueStreak codename, the title appears to take place in the near future, replete with assault rifles and foreboding samurai swords. By the same virtue, the aesthetic itself combines elements of science fiction with Japanese culture, which is all brought to life using the power of Unreal Engine 4.
In a statement, Bleszinski revealed that he was able to gain access to the game development tool through his connections with Epic Games, a studio where he spent a significant chunk of his career as a design director.

Video Games: The Movie takes a breezy tour of history, but shows mainstream gaming in a less than favourable light, Ryan writes...
There is no propaganda in the Star Wars movies. You don't see posters devoted to praising Emperor Palpatine's benign leadership. You don't see adverts or bill board posters positioning Darth Vader as a wheezing man of the people.
But if you did see propaganda in the Star Wars universe, it might look a little bit like Video Games: The Movie - a slickly-produced, 105-minute hymn to an industry that is itself an all-conquering empire. Valued at approximately $66bn in 2013, gaming is now the most lucrative form of entertainment on the planet - and filmmaker Jeremy Snead's documentary charts the medium's rise with unquestioning fervour, from its bleeping, rudimentary inception in the middle of the 20th century to its technically astonishing achievements in the present.

Can you remember all the way back to the wasteland of 2011, when Epic Games was still on top of the world with a Gears of War 3 release looming? Amidst all the excitement for the closing chapter of their flagship trilogy, Cliff Bleszinski and co. also announced a smaller title to look forward to: Fortnite. Although it disappeared from people’s radars after no word was heard for years, Epic decided to surprise us with a recent Game Informer cover and an even more recent brand new gameplay trailer.
Tasking players with scavenging for supplies, crafting forts and protecting said structures from hordes of nocturnal monsters, Fortnite closely resembles both Orcs Must Die! and Sanctum in gameplay style. However, giving players the ability to also build their own structures to protect may give it just enough edge to become infinitely more replayable. It’s even more appealing knowing that the game will be free-to-play,...
