It’s official: Los Bitchos have returned, dropping the slick disco banger “La Bomba.”
Inspired by Nile Rodgers and Anita Ward, the track stays true to the group’s signature sound — a swirling concoction of vibrant disco energy, Eighties Turkish psych-rock, and pure funk. Check out the shimmering video below, where the quartet holds a crystal ball and dances in front of a full moon.

This Post Contains spoilers for this week’s episode of Fox’s The Masked Singer.
On The Masked Singer Season 10’s disco-night episode, it seemed fitting to begin with the Saturday Night Fever hit “Disco Inferno” by The Trammps. During the Group A finals Wednesday night, S’More, Cow, and Gazelle took audiences to funkytown with upbeat tunes, glittering pantsuits, and disco-decorated dancers. In the end, S’More lost his groove and was revealed as O-Town’s Ashley Parker Angel, which panelist Jenny McCarthy guessed correctly.

"Ingenue" Atoms for Peace Amok (Xl Recordings)
Thom Yorke, Flea, long time Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich, session drummer Joey Waronker, and percussionist Mauro Refosco have conjured up some heady experimental rock and electronica juju on this album of Radiohead-like alt-dance and fragmented rock tunes. Much of what I hear on this album had its roots in Radiohead's Amnesiac -- vague lyrics, off-kilter rhythms, Yorke's falsetto vocal phrases. Get your groove on, like Thom does in the video on the next page...
The Mavericks In Time (Valory)
Raul Malo has a voice as angelic as Roy Orbison's. He and his country-leaning Mavs -- original bassist Robert Reynolds and drummer Paul Deakin, along with the more recent guitarist Eddie Perez -- have regrouped and released their first new music in ten years, entitled In Time, including tunes co-written by former Nrbq badass Al Anderson. Last month I was lucky enough to...

In 1992, while thousands of musicians threw on their flannel, strapped on a motorcycle wallet and converged on Seattle in hopes of becoming the next Nirvana, I was one of the few people moving away from the hottest city in the country. I'd been writing for the local music monthly The Rocket since 1988 and by 1991, I was (sad to say) more than a little burned out on the scene. So when Cameron Crowe began filming "Singles," his follow-up to "Say Anything," I wasn't one of those flocking to become an extra or trying to get a glimpse of oft-sighted star Matt Dillon, who was playing the lead singer of faux grunge band Citizen Dick. When the movie finally opened in September 1992, I caught a screening in San Francisco. I expected to see some faces I knew, but I was not expecting to see my own name on the big screen, even...

When Dustin informed me of Pajiba's films of the 1980s retrospective, I was a little ambivalent to write on one of the first films I remember seeing theaters, Tim Burton's Batman (1989; I think the honor for the first film I saw in a theater was Who Framed Roger Rabbit). First, Burton's iconic film has been a defining element of our culture, inspiring a glut of thoughtful, scholarly analysis (two of my favorite texts are the anthology The Many Lives of Batman and Will Brooker's Batman Unmasked); how can one approach the film with a fresh perspective? Secondly, I've been living and breathing comic books for years now, particularly Batman titles, so I was a little burned out when it came to thinking and writing about the film. Thanks a lot, Christopher Nolan! Yet, I realized that my runner-up title, the seldom seen but incredibly funny Ruthless People (1986), didn't quite do the retrospective justice.
