NEW YORK -- A children's version of the TLC hit Trading Spaces will be produced for Discovery Kids, NBC's Saturday morning programming block. Beginning May 17, Trading Spaces: Boys vs. Girls will allow 8- to 13-year-olds to redecorate their bedrooms with the help of expert designers. Thirteen episodes have been ordered from Banyan Prods., which also produces the original Spaces. Boys vs. Girls will replace Operation Junkyard, the kid-targeted spinoff of another TLC series, Junkyard Wars. Production is scheduled to begin this month. Executive producers are Susan Cohen-Dickler, Jan Dickler, Ray Murray, Karen Stein Solomon and Jim Rapsas. A host and designers have yet to be selected. In addition to airing on NBC, Discovery Kids airs as its own 24-hour digital network. Boys vs. Girls will air Mondays at 7 and 10 p.m. ET beginning May 19.
