Ahead of next week’s upfront presentation to Madison Avenue ad buyers, NBC has solidified its comedy lineup for the 2024-25 broadcast season.
The network has handed out a series order to the multicamera comedy Happy’s Place, starring Reba McEntire, and renewed George Lopez’s half-hour Lopez vs. Lopez for a third season. Additionally, NBC has canceled rookie comedy Extended Family, starring Jon Cryer.
Happy’s Place, which was picked up to pilot in late January, revolves around Bobbie (McEntire), who inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had. The series reunites McEntire with the team behind her eponymous 2001 sitcom, including showrunner Kevin Abbott, and co-star Melissa Peterman. Belissa Escobedo, Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk and Rex Linn round out the cast of the series, which is produced in-house at Universal Television.

Mary Jane, the Amy Herzog play starring Rachel McAdams in her Broadway debut, has been given a two-week extension by producer Manhattan Theatre Club.
The play, which opened to excellent reviews Tuesday, will now run through Sunday, June 16, at Mtc’s Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.
Directed by Anne Kauffman, Mary Jane stars McAdams as the mother of a critically ill young boy. Relying on sheer optimism and humor, the single mom of the title faces each day through inner strength, love and a makeshift family of caretakers, nurses and other mothers facing tragedy.
In addition to McAdams, Mary Jane features April Matthis (The Piano Lesson), Susan Pourfar (Tribes), Lily Santiago (La Brea), and Brenda Wehle (The Gilded Age).

NBC’s loss is Peacock’s gain — again.
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Peacock is putting the finishing touches on a deal that would see Law & Order: Organized Crime move from NBC to the streamer for a fifth season consisting of 10 episodes.
Reps for Peacock, NBC, producers Universal Television and executive producer Dick Wolf declined to comment, as a deal has yet to officially close.
Marking a return to the L&o world for franchise favorite Chris Meloni, Organized Crime has overperformed on Peacock with the streamer serving as the streaming home for all things Dick Wolf. Once the deal is formalized, Peacock will now have a Wolf original series to go with next-day episodes of NBC’s already renewed L&o flagship as well as Svu. NBC renewed five of its six Wolf-produced procedurals in March, leaving Organized Crime on the bubble and prompting fan campaigns to save the show.

This should have been titled "Traitors and Suspects."
While Gavin strived to locate Eve, most of La Brea Season 3 Episode 5 focused on discovering who betrayed him. Every time we were sure we figured out who the culprit was, another suspect popped up.
However, we were shocked by the second traitor. They weren't even on our radar.
We're nearing the end of La Brea, and I still have more questions than answers. It's been such a fast-paced season that could have used a few more episodes to flesh out some character arcs.
It was evident that Maya was the ringleader after Scott's confrontation with her on La Brea Season 3 Episode 4, but her motives were still unclear. Was she just over-ambitious and wanted to control time machines? Would she really risk her daughter's safety to get it?
Gavin: Maya, what are you doing?
Maya: I’m taking back what’s mine.

We generally prefer to focus on positive things at the start of a new year, but the fact is that every good show must come to an end, and we're about to say goodbye to some truly beloved series in 2024. We've already lost so many shows recently, including NCIS: Los Angeles and Magnum P.I.
But here we are to discuss it some more! Some of the shows on this list are going out on their own terms after long, successful runs. Others are being unceremoniously kicked to the curb due to low ratings, massive budgets, or departing stars.
One thing they all have in common? Their loss will really sting.
But one they all have in common is that they're shuffling off the airwaves sometime within the next 12 months, so join us as we bid farewell to the following series from across the TV landscape.

Forty-nine years after playing a major role in the Steven Spielberg classic Jaws (and fourteen years after making an appearance in Alexandre Aja’s Piranha 3D), Richard Dreyfuss has been cast in another film that promises to be packed with aquatic thrills, Vigilante Diaries director Christian Sesma’s Into the Deep. This one managed to get all the way into post-production before catching the attention of the folks at The Daily Jaws.
Scripted by Chad Law and Josh Ridgway – who have previously collaborated on the alligator movie The Flood, the Dolph Lundgren action thriller Section 8, the biker werewolf movie Howlers, and the mystery Miss Willoughby and the Haunted Bookshop – Into the Deep has the following synopsis: A group of divers searching for sunken treasure witness the murder of drug dealers by modern-day pirates, but a killer great white is determined not to let any of them escape its waters.

The first trailer for La Brea’s third and final season features a T. Rex, sure, but there’s lot more going on than that.
The teaser trailer above, released on Friday by NBC, gives us a sense of the chaos that has ensued after — concurrent with Eve’s mysterious vanishing — a bazillion auroras appeared in the sky outside, allowing people (and dinosaurs!) from other eras to drop in on 10,000 B.C.

The episode of Wtf Really Happened to This Horror Movie covering Wolf Creek was Written and Narrated by Andrew Hatfield, Edited by Mike Conway, Produced by Lance Vlcek and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
One of the biggest and some would say overused tropes in horror movies is the killer stalking people in an outdoor setting. The main series for this is, of course, the Friday the 13th series but we have nearly countless other examples to pull from. Sometimes, like today’s entry, or The Burning, these stories and movies can be based on true events and make it even more frightening. Unlike The Burning, which is based on an urban legend with the true story being far from fact, Wolf Creek (watch it Here) had an original script that was tweaked to be based on the real life killers Ivan Milat and Bradley John Murdoch...

NBC will add three new scripted series to its primetime lineup for the start of the 2023-24 season — and since all three began production well before the writers strike, they’ll be ready to go right away even if writers (or other industry unions) are still on strike.
The network has done a significant amount of strike-proofing for its fall slate, such that six of seven nights will feature original programming even if the Writers Guild of America strike delays the usual summertime start of production on returning shows. NBC’s new series — dramas Found and The Irrational and comedy Extended Family — were all picked up outside the traditional development cycle and thus filmed several episodes each before writers struck on May 1. (Found was originally set to premiere in February before being pushed back to fall.) Unscripted shows The Voice and The Wall and sports on Saturday and Sunday nights...
