Phillip Solheim
- Actor
- Producer
Phillip Solheim, represented by Progressive Artists Agency and the ESI Network, stands as a promising young actor and producer based in Los Angeles. A recent alumnus of the Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University, Phillip has appeared in a rich portfolio of professional film and theatre productions, bringing stories to life on screens at international film festivals and on professional stages across the country. Phillip currently hones his daily practice with guidance of Jo Kelly and receives additional coaching from Scott Sedita and Deborah Quayle.
Hailing from Seattle, Washington, Phillip spent his teen years performing in vocal jazz festivals and theatre productions, hiking in national parks, and competing internationally in flat water sprint kayak regattas. His early focus in performance led him to be named Downbeat Magazine's 2013 Jr High Jazz Vocalist of the Year, and to be selected as a member of the 5th Avenue Theatre's Rising Star Project, where he received mentorship and performance opportunities on the world famous stage. Phillip continued to shine and expand his artistic experience by taking leading roles in productions at ArtsWest Playhouse and Ballyhoo Theatre.
Phillip's trajectory took a decisive turn when, out of thousands of applicants, he was selected by Tony Nominee Lara Teeter to receive one of 27 spots in the Sargent Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University. The conservatory's collaborations with esteemed institutions such as the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, The Muny, and Variety Theatre endowed him with a comprehensive education in both classical and contemporary theater, ranging from Shakespearean and Greek tragedies to the nuances of contemporary film and television.
His undergraduate tenure witnessed standout performances, notably portraying the notorious HH Holmes in a developmental production of "Deadly" written by conservatory alumnus, Vanessa Claire Stewart, and directed by Broadway acclaimed actor Caesar Samayoa. Phillip's success as an undergrad continued with professional work for stage and screen, including roles in globally showcased short films, and regional stage performances.
Relocating to Los Angeles marked a pivotal chapter in Phillip's budding career, catalyzed by the support of Emmy Award winning casting director Deborah Barylski, who took Phillip under her wing on his post-conservatory journey. Phillip swiftly found his footing in the city, nurtured by industry veterans like actress and career coach Barbara Deutsch. This alliance led him to sign with Progressive Artists Agency, setting the stage for the next leg of his journey as an entertainment professional.
During his first summer in Los Angeles, Phillip landed leading roles in multiple short films for the producing & directing class as a part of the University of Southern California/Warner Brothers summer program. Serendipity led him to act opposite his future collaborator and life partner, Julia J. Wilke, with whom he has launched Steel Cat Productions.
Among his expanding list of Los Angeles acting credits is Decoded Studio's "MASC", written and directed by Jason Eldridge, and Liesl Wilke's "Lines", directed by Sara Werner, which premiered at Hollywood's Chinese Theatre as a part of the Beverly Hills Film Festival.
