Eddie Diaz, get behind me! I'm going to get you off this carousel!
We need to have an earnest conversation about Eddie Diaz in 9-1-1 Season 7, and we Will have that conversation. But first, we have much to discuss.
And A Lot was happening during 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 7.
Fresh off the Madney wedding, Maddie and Chimney would find themselves smack in the middle of a call gone seriously wrong that awakened many feelings in Maddie.
The frightened mother's call hit too close for Maddie. The woman was calling from the passenger seat of a vehicle that we, the audience, and Maddie assumed was being driven by her husband, and she was clearly in a lot of distress.
The presence of a baby in the backseat only upped the anxiety and the need for a quick response to what was quickly devolving into a dangerous situation.

A twin brother and sister get separated in childhood. The sister, however, is raised by a decent family and goes on to become a police officer. The brother, sadly, gets the short end of the stick and eventually turns into a psychopathic serial killer. The second season of Prime Video’s Them, titled The Scare, can be summed up with just this much, but there is an obvious horror element playing at large. The “scare” in the title points to this supernatural entity, which consumes the brother and tries to do the same with the sister. In this article, we’re going to put the ending of the show under the microscope and also look into the themes of this season. There will be major spoilers ahead, so if you haven’t watched it yet, please stop reading this article at this point.

Them: The Scare, the newest entry into the black horror anthology for Prime Video, will blow your mind.
The follow-up to Them: Covenant brings the action forward in a few decades to 1991, where LAPD Detective Dawn Reeve will be embroiled in a case unlike anything she's ever seen.
And soon enough, her family will be affected in ways she never saw coming.
The series, born from the mind of its brilliant creator Little Marvin, has a robust cast. TV Fanatic was blessed to take part in the Them: The Scare press day, where we chatted with stars Luke James, Joshua J. Williams, and Pam Grier.
One of the biggest strengths of the Them: The Scare series is its fantastic cast, which brings this decidedly twisty and scary tale to life.
Luke James, from The Chi fame, steps into the role of Edmund Gaines and gives a scene-stealing performance.

Them has never shied away from exploring some of the darkest parts of America’s history. The first season of this anthology series was centered around the Great Migration of the 1950s and virulent racism in suburban America, and now the second season (all episodes drop on April 25 on Prime Video) focuses on Los Angeles circa 1991, in the direct aftermath of Rodney King’s assault at the hands of the LAPD. This is where we find Detective Dawn Reeves, as she wrestles with racism and misogyny from her colleagues, familial turmoil, and most terrifyingly, a malevolent entity terrorizing Los Angelenos all over the city — with her loved ones potentially the next targets. Family Ties Much of what drives Them: The Scare is Detective Reeves’ fierce devotion to her son, Kel (Joshua J. Williams), and her mother, Athena (Pam Grier), particularly in the face of grounded and supernatural threats alike. The...

It took years for 9-1-1 to get to Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Chimney’s (Kenneth Choi) wedding, and after a tease at the big day—the groom’s Mia!—fans have to wait just a bit longer. 9-1-1 is not new on Thursday, April 18, though it is on—with reruns of the first three episodes of Season 7, covering the cruise ship disaster that was Athena (Angela Bassett) and Bobby’s (Peter Krause) honeymoon. 9-1-1’s highly anticipated crossover with The Bachelor ended surprisingly when Buck (Oliver Stark) locked lips with Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.).
In the aftermath, plenty of fans have taken to social media to air their thoughts on the development, and now, Stark is speaking out about the response.
The actor, who has been with the show since its series premiere, said he’s “humbled and overwhelmed by the positive reaction to Buck’s storyline” in a new Instagram story.
The 32-year-old said he’d been reading fan messages and “couldn’t be prouder.”
Stark then addressed members of the “smaller group of people” commenting on his posts that the romantic twist has “ruined the show.”
“I would like you to know that I truly don’t care,” he affirmed before stating that the series has always been “about love and inclusion.”

9-1-1 kicked off a big storyline this week with Buck (Oliver Stark) sharing a kiss with Tommy (Louis Ferrigno Jr.).
The kiss they shared at the end of 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 4 was a shocker because the episode hinted at Buck having feelings for Eddie (Ryan Guzman).
Oliver has confirmed in several interviews since the episode aired that Buck will be exploring his sexuality this season.
In a newly released promo shared by ABC, we see Buck and Tommy on their first date, but it doesn’t go to plan.
Eddie somehow shows up at the same location, and the date seems destined to take an awkward turn because the firefighter will undoubtedly question why his two best friends are out without him.
Will Buck open up to Eddie about his new romance, or will he and Tommy keep it on the down low until they establish whether there...

While the world collectively processes Buck’s sexual awakening on Thursday’s 9-1-1, let us not overlook another major development from the ABC procedural’s 100th episode: they recast Harry!
Athena was understandably gobsmacked when she awoke to find her son cooking breakfast in her kitchen. Not only did she think he was still living with Michael in Miami, but she barely recognized her all-grown-up little boy, now played by Elijah M. Cooper.

Never has the title of a 9-1-1 episode rang truer than this one.
The hit drama celebrated 100 episodes with 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 4 an hour, a massive change of pace from the heavy, action-packed hours that the season began with.
The series got back to basics, and those basics were the characters. And it was undoubtedly an installment worthy of plenty of discussion.
Before we get into the nitty-gritty of the hour, major congratulations to the cast and crew of this series for reaching 100 episodes.
Back in the day, when networks gave series longer leashes to sink or swim, and the season episode counts were much farther north of 20, hitting that kind of milestone was much more commonplace.
But that's not the reality of the television industry currently, as all of us who love the medium know very well.
And with the 9-1-1 Season 8 renewal news, it's easy...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 4 “Buck, Bothered and Bewildered.”] If you asked us before 9-1-1 Season 7 began if the ABC first responder drama would take the relationship between Buck (Oliver Stark) and Eddie (Ryan Guzman), which remains strictly platonic, and actually go where some fans have wanted to see it go for some time now, the answer would have seemed simple. But now the question has to be asked. Buck spends the 100th episode “bothered and bewildered,” to borrow its title, upon realizing Eddie’s spending all this free time with Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.), the former 118er they just worked with to rescue Bobby (Peter Krause) and Athena (Angela Bassett). He seems hurt when Eddie talks about meeting someone and just clicking. He tries to get Eddie’s attention at work, then drags Chimney (Kenneth Choi) along to a weekly basketball game upon learning his best friend’s going with Tommy. And ...

Film icon Pam Grier has teamed with Village Roadshow Pictures to develop a project based on her bestselling 2010 memoir, “Foxy: My Life in Three Acts.”
Known as the queen of 1970s Blaxploitation classics like “Coffy” and “Foxy Brown,” plus Quentin Tarantino’s Oscar-nominated film “Jackie Brown,” Grier is enjoying her latest act thanks to movies like 2023’s “Cinnamon.” That film kicked off her relationship with Village Roadshow Pictures, which produced the title under the company’s Black Noir Cinema banner for Tubi.

When Fox canceled 9-1-1 last year, despite it being one of the most-watched and highest-rated scripted dramas, it was inevitable another network would continue the stories of Athena (Angela Bassett), Buck (Oliver Stark), and everyone in their orbit.
Thankfully, ABC dialed 9-1-1 and secured the show’s future for a seventh season, which has helped improve the network’s Thursday roster after just three episodes.
And now, the network has officially picked up 9-1-1 Season 8, keeping the show on the air for the 2024-2025 season.
Despite solid ratings, the show’s initial cancellation taught us to expect the unexpected, but we’re thankful it will be back for an additional season on ABC.
ABC has proven to be happy with the show by giving it Station 19’s timeslot and kicking things off with a big-budget Poseidon-inspired disaster that left some of our most beloved characters in danger.

At times, 9-1-1 can be spectacle television.
What other show do you know that's been able to have a tsunami, landslide, and sinking cruise ship disaster happen throughout its run and pull it off with such aplomb?
But that's never been all there is to 9-1-1. The characters are the heartbeat, which is so often not the case on standard procedurals, and that mixture of spectacle, found family, emotional warmth, and humor has always set it apart.
9-1-1 Season 7 returned from the strike-induced elongated hiatus like it had something to prove.
Moving from Fox to ABC breathed new life into a show that will conclude this season with over 100 episodes to its credit, a feat that's very rare these days.
Choosing to usher in its ABC run with perhaps the biggest spectacle of all could have been seen as a gamble, even though it's something the series is historically known for doing.

The judges had their work cut out for them on Sunday’s American Idol, which kicked off Hollywood Week with the introduction of the “Idol Arena,” and ended with the biggest round of cuts in the franchise’s 22-season history.
Also referred to as the “gladiator’s pit” by Lionel Richie, the Idol Arena was essentially an enormous stage where each singer would perform at random, surrounded on all sides by their competitive peers. 143 singers have made it to Hollywood this season, but only 56 would remain at the end of the two-hour broadcast. For the mathematically challenged, that meant 87 hopefuls would have to be cut.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 3 “Capsized.”] 9-1-1 brings its three-part cruise ship disaster to an end with an episode full of exciting saves—by and of Bobby (Peter Krause)—and an off-the-books requisition of a helicopter, and what better way to cap it off than with the honeymooning couple home and enjoying being together? Athena (Angela Bassett) and Bobby have saved themselves and the others with them as much as they can by the time the 118—Hen (Aisha Hinds) finds Chimney (Kenneth Choi), Buck (Oliver Stark), and Eddie (Ryan Guzman) waiting, along with former 118-er Tommy (Lou Ferrigno Jr.) as the helicopter pilot—arrives on scene. (Even Athena and Bobby can’t help everyone climb out through the giant hole in the ship.) Below, Krause takes us inside some of the biggest moments of the cruise ship emergency, talks Bobby and Athena’s relationship, and teases what’s ahead. I’m not surprised ...

Someone get the Bobby Nash upper body and core workout routine and send it my way.
With the cruise ship going full-on Poseidon Adventure, Bobby and Athena had to step up and lead a tattered and bruised group up and across the broken boat if they wanted any chance at getting off that floating death trap.
9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 3 was the finale of the thrilling three-part premiere, and it was a pretty perfect conclusion to what's been a refreshing start to the series' seventh effort.
The scale of this hour is enormous. They pulled out all the stops to bring this upside-down cruise ship to life, and it could not have been easy.
The visual of everyone on the roof and poor Norman strapped to a roulette table hanging above them isn't something you'll soon forget, as anybody who has spent years clinging to the three-parter's inspiration knows.
It's just a tremendous set piece,...

9-1-1 fans can breathe a massive sigh of relief after Thursday’s conclusion to the season’s three-part premiere, now that Bobby and Athena are finally back on land — and back in the saddle. (Bow-chicka-bow-wow!)
Of course, not everyone fared quite as well as the 118’s Mom and Dad this week. For starters, remember that guy who “just wanted to cash out” on the ship? Well, he cashed out all right… from life. He was the episode’s first official victim, leaving just a handful of survivors to make their way off the boat.

As if Hen Wilson would sit by idly while her people were in trouble.
Hen knew she was on to something when she went to Maddie during 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 2, and even though Chief Simpson told her to drop her concerns and get back to work, to know Hen is to know that was never going to happen.
In this exclusive clip TV Fanatic was lucky enough to get, we’ll see what Hen’s next move will be on 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 3. Hint: it looks to involve some sneaking around.
Hen is always very steadfast in her convictions, and once she latched on to her suspicions about the cruise ship, she was going to see it through.
Chief Simpson may have wanted her back as captain at the 118, but that was an impossible ask with her captain and one of her best friends unaccounted for.

Incoming crossover, 9-1-1 fans! And it's looking like it will be quite the doozy!
9-1-1 is no stranger to a crossover, as the 118 headed to Austin, Texas, during 9-1-1 Season 4 to aid the folks of the 126 as they battled a raging wildfire.
And while that crossover with 9-1-1: Lone Star was inevitable, with the two series existing in the same universe, this upcoming crossover is more unexpected but looks like a ton of fun.
When 9-1-1 made the move to ABC, many wondered if the 118 would show up on one of the hit series currently airing on the network.
Maybe the 118 would end up working the scene of an accident that saw some members from The Rookie stopping by.
Or perhaps Athena would be working a case and needed unique medical advice that somehow had her in contact with someone at Grey Sloan Memorial.
Better yet,...

‘9-1-1’: Aisha Hinds Says Hen’s Still Hurting From Betrayal, Plus What’s Next to Save Athena & Bobby
[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 2 “Rock the Boat.”] If there’s one thing we’ve learned about Hen (Aisha Hinds) over seven seasons of 9-1-1 thus far, it’s to trust her instincts. The latest episode calls that into question—twice! First, on a call, a man who caused a car accident in which a mother and daughter were injured—he was up and talking—refuses care. Then, he suddenly collapses. As captain while Bobby’s (Peter Krause) away, responsibility falls on Hen. During the investigation, she’s unofficially suspended. To her, it feels like Chimney (Kenneth Choi), Buck (Oliver Stark), and Eddie (Ryan Guzman) don’t have her back. She is cleared (tox results show the man was drunk and on drugs), but she has a new concern at that point: news of a hurricane where Athena (Angela Bassett) and Bobby’s cruise ship should be—it’s missing. She’s determined ...

If there's someone you want to be on a potentially deadly cruise with, it's Athena Grant-Nash.
While the cruise from hell kept getting decidedly worse, Athena and Bobby found themselves in a terrifying position during 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 2, which had them prepared to say goodbye to one another for the last time.
If that sounds terribly dramatic, it absolutely was. But it's also 9-1-1 at its very best.
When the credits rolled on 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 1, pirates had come aboard the ship, and it looked like things were about to get real. And they did, but not necessarily in the way expected.
From the exceptionally effective and invigorating media blitz leading up to the premiere, we've always known there would be an explosion on the ship. But once those pirates entered the equation, it wasn't clear how the two connected, if at all.
Well, now we know.

With the pirates now aboard Bobby and Athena’s cruise ship, Thursday’s episode of 9-1-1 saw the couple’s honeymoon go from bad to worse to underwater, as the premiere trilogy claimed its first (named) victim.
It all began with the terrorists demanding that Norman hand over his “dongle,” a very specific word that was used approximately 75 times in this single conversation. And just when we thought we’d heard the word in every possible iteration, Athena turned to the head hijacker and declared, in that booming Angela Bassett voice, “He doesn’t have any damn dongle!”
