Some international key art for next week’s return of AMC’s The Walking Dead appears to spoil a pretty major plot point that fans of Robert Kirkman’s source material are sure to be familiar with. As you can see, the image features Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) with a covering over his right eye, strongly implying that he’s lost it.
In the comics, Carl is accidentally shot by Douglas Monroe (a character who was actually replaced by Deanna in the TV series) and not only loses the eye, but a good chunk of his face and some of his memory. Fans fully expected Ron to be the one to take the shot during his scuffle with Carl in the midseason finale, but they seemed to sort out their differences – at least temporarily.
There’s every chance the troubled teen will pick up the gun again, of course, but...

The second half of The Walking Dead Season 6 is going to bring us all kinds of crazy changes for the series. We are going to be introduced to the most insane villain yet, people are going to die, and there will be a few other things that will never be the same.
Spoiler Warning:
One of the big changes that takes place includes Carl. It looks like they are going to follow the comics in regards to an injury that Carl sustains. The poor kid loses his eye! I was wondering if the series would work in this plot point and a piece of promo art has surfaced that confirms they are doing it. You can see it below the comic book art:

So yeah... here's young Carl (Chandler Riggs) with a eye out. A lot of us expected this to happen in the recent midseason final during his struggles with an armed-up Ron, but it seems it'll go down a different way when The Walking Dead returns next Sunday. In the comics he loses the peeper - and a good chunk of his face - after being accidentally shot by Douglas Monroe, but since that character never even existed (he was replaced by Deanna), it'll obviously be someone else pulling the trigger.
