Melbourne physician Kim Ko is writing a novella inspired by the Malaysian Airlines MH17 disaster which she aims to turn into a feature film.
The Malaysian-born doctor has a personal connection to the tragedy: a close female friend was on the July 17 2014 flight from Amsterdam bound for Kuala Lumpur when it was shot down over Ukraine.
The friend asked Dr Ko to join her on the trip but she had declined because she was busy working as doctor in Victoria.
The neophyte actress/ writer/producer has teamed up with veteran screenwriter / producer Bobby Galinsky to develop a feature entitled July Seventeenth.
The screenplay will be based on Ko.s novella, due to be published next year, and on other sources. The film will also deal with her decision to pursue a career as an actress. Last month she graduated from the Howard Fine Acting School and last year she attended...

Sam Weisman and Zuzanna Szadkowski Zuzanna Szadkowski had always imagined a certain career path for herself: character parts, lots of theater, very little television. All that changed when Szadkowski met teacher-director Sam Weisman. Carla Gugino loves the thrill of disappearing into characters, of becoming one with everything, from nurturing matriarchs ("Spy Kids") to hard-charging go-getters ("Entourage"). Fans often express amazement at her ability to capture such a wide range of personas, but Gugino credits her longtime acting teacher, Howard Fine, with giving her the tools to do so."Sometimes I'll enter something where the [character] is very different from myself, but there's always that way of needing to connect to, where do you find it inside?" she muses. "The key for me and what's exciting is when I feel like I'm inhabiting them: They are in my bones. That's always a great reminder that I get from Howard."The idea that every character can be discovered within is a central part of Fine's teachings and something that has resonated with Gugino in all their years of working together. "Every character you're going to play is found inside you,...

"Clumsy may be just an adjective for some, but it's a lifestyle for me," says Lauren Gilmore. While she may bump into walls or take the occasional spill, she has a knack for making the right move when it matters. Lauren just landed her first network role as Petra the "game agent" on NBC's new game show "Minute To Win It," in which contestants compete in a variety of one-minute games in an attempt to win a million dollars. Born and raised near Chicago, Lauren retains her Midwest roots: She still talks to her dad almost every day. She first moved to L.A. to work in sales for 3M, but soon realized her future didn't lie in sandpaper and adhesives. She is now pursuing her dream of acting and hosting. Lauren has a very dry and offbeat sense of humor—like a Coen brother, only nearly six feet tall with long blond hair.
