Daniel is a filmmaker who started making short films with friends as a teenager in the 1990s. Beginning in 2000, he refined his skills working at a production company he started with his father, an Atlanta-based writer/producer. In 2002, he worked on his first feature as an assistant director on an independent film Ghost of the Needle. After moving to New York City, he was the assistant director on This Revolution, which was selected to the 2005 Sundance Film Festival. Daniel also has experience as an editor, notably for multiple episodes of the 2009 Emmy Award-winning season of MTV's True Life. In 2012, he founded a production company called Blurry + Hinge and has produced and directed content for clients including MailChimp, Spotify, Facebook, VICE, Pitchfork, Refinery29, and GQ. He co-produced the feature film Pop Meets the Void in 2015, produced two shorts, New Roommate and The Doula in 2018 and 2019, was director of photography on the documentary Let Me Take You Down in 2020, and edited episodes of Teenage Euthanasia for Adult Swim in 2021.
