Coming off a World Premiere in Silver Spring, Maryland, Ninjas vs. Monsters will have a follow-up screening at the Philip K. Dick Science Fiction Film Festival. The screening will take place in New York, with this third film from director Justin Timpane (Ninjas vs. Zombies) rounding out a trilogy. So, Timpane is holding nothing back. In Ninjas vs. Monsters, the heroes team up with "monster hunting mercenaries" (Timpane) to thwart the plans of Dracula and his many henchmen. Dracula has recruited monster movie icons such as witches, Frankenstein, the Mummy, the Werewolf and many others to take down the Ninjas. Who will win? Horror fans can have a look at the film's trailer below to place their bets. Also, conventioneers can find more details on the showing date below at the Philip K. Director: Justin Timpane. Review: Adam Wing. Justin Timpane’s low budget horror comedy arrives in the UK this month with the promise of ninjas and zombies, which is rarely a bad thing in my eyes. It’s hardly inspired though, which is probably why the distributors felt the urge to change the title for its UK premiere. Here the film is known as Zombie Contagion, but Ninjas vs. Zombies has already spawned a sequel back home, and it doesn’t take a genius to work out what Ninjas vs. Vampires is all about either. I just hope I’m not unfortunate enough to receive a copy. Timpane and story consultant Daniel Ross have thrown everything they have at this misguided production, apart from the presence of actual quality. In an attempt to reach the largest audience imaginable, Timpane’s movie comes on like a bizarre mix of science fiction, horror,...

True Blood creator Alan Ball has been working hard to bring his latest series, Banshee, to Cinemax and part of that process involves finding the best actors for the various roles. The latest actor to be brought on to the series is Danish actor Ulrich Thomsen. The project is written by Jonathon Tropper and David Schickler and is one of the few projects with Ball’s name attached to it that has me interested.
According to TVLine, Thomsen will be playing a local, wealthy businessman in Basnhee, Penn, who uses his natural intimidating aura to do whatever he wants, believing he’s above the law. Banshee will star Antony Starr as an ex-convict and master thief who flees to Banshee and assumes the identity of the towns sheriff, using his newfound authority to continue his criminal activities unchecked. Unfortunately, his past is catching up to him as a group of gangsters hunt him down.

Ninjas vs. Vampires is a low budget film featuring both ninjas and vampires. If you read my Cowboys & Zombies review, it will save some mentions which I have to give for this particular film. Firstly, it’s low-budget, secondly, the special effects are bad (because of the budget) and the acting isn’t so great. So, the main thing to consider, is it an enjoyable film?
It is… in parts.
When two teens are attacked by vampires, and then subsequently saved by ninjas, they can’t believe this could be real. That is until they become embroiled in a fight between the two groups. The ninjas aren’t all that ninja-ish, but the vampires are fairly vampy.
The film seems to take its leave from Blade, there’s a half-ninja, half-vampire character who has the powers of both.

The ninjas of the "Ninjas vs." franchise take on a new member who's driven to rescue the girl of his dreams from a group of evil vamps.
Satisfying followup to Ninjas vs. Zombies has the right balance of "Blade" type action and horror. The right amount of Gen X type humor channeling films like "Reality Bites" and "Clerks". The right amount of posing and posturing to give it that cool factor. And just the right amount of edge and bite to give it some substance. Ninjas vs. Vampires is a briskly paced, entertaining film with one little fun vignette right after another. Part of the success of this entry is that the film has energy.

If you actually ventured past your multiplex and watched horror films other then the uninspired "A Nightmare on Elm Street" remake, the strictly putting it in 3D for the money "My Soul to Take", the pointless remake of Let The Right One In entitled "Let Me In", the lifeless remake of "The Crazies" and other mostly bland mainstream horror releases that made up 2010, you would discover a wonderful world of indie horror films that stood out. George A. Romero showed that he's still got it with Survival of the Dead. Comedy and horror were brought together seamlessly (for once!) in President's Day & All About Evil. And plenty of other terrific independent films stood out. However, it wasn't all rosy for the independent horror films of 2010, as they also produced some highly publicized stinkers or films that finally came off the shelf after gathering dust for years. Still, for once, 2010 had...

Think back to the comedies of the 1990's like Clueless, Reality Bites, Clerks, etc. They had edge. They had bite. They captured the spirit and the essence of the Gen X slacker mentality to the tee. This period of film has been looked upon by fans fondly. There have been films that have tried to capture the essence and the spirit of these films, but too often do these films come across as feeling forced and labored. Enter Washington D.C. based actor Daniel Ross of Ninjas vs. Vampires (starring: Jay Saunders, Cory Okouchi, Carla Okouchi, Devon Marie Burt, Melissa McConnell, P.J. This aspiring up and coming presence captures the mentality of the actors of that period and of those films through his performances with such ease and fluidity. Ninjas Vs.
