The 2018 Guiding Lights mentees
Beast director Michael Pearce, Notes On Blindness directors James Spinney and Peter Middleton, Moon producer Nicky Bentham, Adult Life Skills director Rachel Tunnard, and Nina Forever team Ben Blaine and Chris Blaine have all signed up to be mentors for the initiative. They are all alumni of the Guiding Lights scheme.
This year’s crop of mentees, all of whom are aiming to make their first feature, are directors Chris Shepherd, Rose Glass, Marie Lidén, Rubika Shah, Corinna Faith and Nick Rowland as well as producers Rebecca Day and Isobel Pietsch. Scroll down to read bios of each mentee.

13 directors, producers and writers selected for Skillset, BFI backed initiative.
The mentees for the ninth edition of UK talent scheme Guiding Lights have been revealed.
A total of 13 directors, producers and writers have been selected from 230 applications for the scheme run by Lighthouse and Creative Skillset.
Five directors have been selected: Lucy Cohen, Meloni Poole, Nicky Lianos, Sarah McCarthy, and Sean Spencer.
The five producers are: Catryn Ramasut, Dominique Unsworth, Kamilla Kristiane Hodøl, Emilie Jouffroy, and Loran Dunn.
The three writers are: Demian Fox, Harry Macqueen, John Hickman.
Guiding Lights is funded by the BFI with National Lottery funds through the Skills Investment Fund.
Lisa Howe, Creative Skillset’s film manager commented: “We are delighted to continue with our support for this world-leading programme through the Film Skills Fund, allowing the most promising of rising film talent to benefit from the advice and guidance of top film professionals.”

In its sixth year, Guiding Lights offers participants nine months of one-on-one mentor support from professionals in the film industry, as well as access to industry training and networking events. The candidates were selected from more than 250 applications.
“The Guiding Lights selection process is always extremely competitive, and this year was no exception,” said Lighthouse senior producer Emily Kyriakides.
