Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu will be back for the 2024-25 season after NBC renewed the pair of shows but spinoff Law & Order: Organized Crime is in a slightly more precarious position.
The network has renewed Law & Order for Season 24, while Law & Order: Svu will be back for Season 26.
The future of Law & Order: Organized Crime, which is in its fourth season, is still in discussion at the network. It has been the lowest rated of Dick Wolf’s NBC shows and has had a number of showrunners over its course. Matt Olmstead started out as showrunner, replaced by Ilene Chaiken, who was replaced by Barry O’Brien. Bryan Goluboff was named showrunner for Season 3 but left after three months, replaced by Sean Jablonski, who also left shortly after due to “creative differences” and was replaced by David Graziano. John Shiban is showrunner for Season 4.

‘Superman & Lois’ has garnered praise as one of CW’s top superhero shows. Despite CW’s restructuring and cancelation of many projects, ‘Superman & Lois’ secured its season 4 renewal shortly before the season 3 finale. Although loosely connected to the Arrowverse, the show has distinguished itself from other CW superhero series, which have faced criticism in recent years.
Season 4 has been confirmed as the show’s final season, with reduced episodes, a smaller main cast, and a smaller writing team due to budget constraints. Despite these changes, an iconic character, Jimmy Olsen, is set to appear, with Douglas Smith cast in the role according to TVLine.
In the show, Jimmy is depicted as an outgoing young adult who is known for being the life of the party at work. Despite working closely with Clark, he struggles to break through Clark’s reserved demeanor. Unaware of Clark’s secret identity as Superman, Jimmy is determined to befriend him.

‘Superman & Lois’ is often touted as being one of the best CW’s superhero-based shows. This is why even following CW restructuring after many projects were written off, ‘Superman & Lois’ managed to score its season 4 renewal just weeks prior to the season 3 finale. Although unofficially a part of Arrowverse, the show managed to distance itself from other CW’s similar projects that were regarded as straight-up bad in the last few years, especially looking back at the disappointing Flash finale.
A few months ago it was confirmed that Season 4 would be the show’s last, even though the viewership remained steady, it wasn’t nearly enough to justify a high CGI budget. Season 4 is set to return with fewer episodes, with much of its main cast missing and a much smaller writers team. But the show must go on and so one iconic character will reportedly appear in the show.

Three weeks after Law & Order bid farewell to Sam Waterston, the NBC procedural on Thursday introduced Tony Goldwyn as the newest District Attorney.
Usually, the legal part of the drama doesn’t happen until later in the episode, but Goldwyn’s Nicholas Baxter joined the action at the top of the hour as Detectives Jalen Shaw (Mehcad Brooks) and Vincent Riley (Reid Scott) are investigating the bludgeoning death of multi-millionaire Jonah Barlowe.
Baxter explains his sudden appearance by saying the sight of the “swirling lights” got him excited and that he “hasn’t been at crime scene in over 30 years. I couldn’t help myself.”
He lingers at the scene for only a few seconds before telling the detectives that “I’ll do everything in my power to create a constructive and transparent relationship with the police. That’s it.”

Enter Tony Goldwyn, making his debut as Da Nicholas Baxter in “Balance of Power”—and he does so immediately! In fact, Baxter surprises Shaw (Mehcad Brooks) and Riley (Reid Scott) by showing up at their crime scene (a Wall Street investor was murdered in his home). “Excuse me. Who the hell are you?” Shaw asks and, after Baxter introduces himself, tells him it’s their crime scene. “I understand. I was just walking up town and saw the swirling lights and I got excited. I thought I’d pop my head inside. I haven’t been to a crime scene in over 30 years. Couldn’t help myself,” he explains. But before Baxter leaves, he adds, “There...

Tony Goldwyn is a true-blue network guy.
Taking over the prosecutor’s office for “Law & Order” in Season 23, the steely actor is set to debut District Attorney Nicholas Baxter on the revived legal drama Thursday, March 14 at 8 p.m. Et. The character introduction comes just two weeks after Sam Waterston stepped down as the legendary Jack McCoy. For his final appearance at NBC in Episode 4 “The Last Dance,” the iconic Da sacrificed his reelection campaign to fight corruption in the mayor’s office. Leaving his post after 30 years, McCoy assured his colleagues that the next Da would be an even stronger legal mind.
Replacing Waterston won’t be easy. The 83-year-old’s retirement from the series created a major vacancy in TV’s most famous police procedural. And that’s a genre already difficult to keep compelling in an increasingly divided America. “Law & Order” is still doing well in the ratings,...

Tony Goldwyn is bringing some of his “magic” to Law & Order when he debuts as the new district attorney Nicholas Baxter in the March 14 episode. He takes over from Sam Waterston‘s Jack McCoy, who resigned in his final episode. “The end of an era, cheers to Sam,” Mehcad Brooks (who plays Detective Jalen Shaw) tells TV Insider. “He was a beacon of virtue for over two, three decades, really, and it was such an honor and a privilege to get to work with him. And what a funny, just enticing individual and just a lovely human being, an incredible actor, and he will be missed.” The promo, which you can watch above, offers a look at Goldwyn as Baxter and him and Price (Hugh Dancy) clashing. “He’s ambitious, and he wants headlines,” Price says. “He wants to do things his way,” Maroun (Odelya Halevi) adds. Detective Jalen Shaw (Mehcad Brooks) is going to be questioning himself in the February 29 episode of Law & Order—and as a result, we’ll see something we don’t usually see on a procedural drama. In “On the Ledge,” when the NYPD responds to the scene of an active shooter in a nearby hospital, Shaw is shocked at his connection to the suspect. Then, Maroun (Odelya Halevi) and Price (Hugh Dancy) face a difficult trial when the defendant offers up an insanity plea. Below, Brooks previews this week’s episode, talks Shaw and Riley’s (Reid Scott) dynamic, and more. This case has a bit of a surprise for Shaw because he does have a connection to the suspect, but it’s a random one. Mehcad Brooks: The connection is very random in the fact that Shaw’s on his way to work and he runs into a man who is contemplating suicide.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Law & Order Season 23 Episode 5, “Last Dance.”] “It’s been a hell of a ride,” Jack McCoy says in one of Sam Waterston‘s last times on-screen on Law & Order (for now?). After more than 400 episodes, the Da says goodbye on the NBC drama in an episode that also brings him back into the courtroom. The case appears to be somewhat simple: A woman is found dead in Central Park, and digging into her life reveals she was raped years earlier—by the same man who was seen in the area. Mortal Kombat director Simon McQuoid is back at the helm for the sequel Mortal Kombat 2, which recently wrapped production after a bumpy ride through the year of the strikes. This film will be bringing popular video game character Johnny Cage to the screen, with Karl Urban of Dredd, Star Trek, and The Boys taking on the role. Despite Urban’s established awesomeness, he was an unexpected choice for Johnny Cage, and there are some fans who have let it be known that they would have chosen someone else to play the part. Karl Urban marked the end of filming on Simon McQuoid‘s upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 on his Instagram, calling it “the most action packed fun I’ve ever had” on a film. Urban, who plays Johnny Cage in the follow-up to the 2021 film, also took the opportunity to show himself sans beard, which he’ll no doubt be growing back for The Boys, which will be returning for Season 4 later this year.
We’ve not seen a picture yet of Urban as everyone’s favourite action movie star, though MK2 producer Todd Garner had given us a peek of what to expect a few weeks back. Mortal Kombat director Simon McQuoid is back at the helm for the sequel Mortal Kombat 2, which started filming at the end of June last year… then had to shut down production when the Screen Actors Guild strike hit a couple weeks later. That strike came to an end in November, and filming resumed on Mortal Kombat 2 very soon after. Now filming has wrapped, and we know this because Max Huang, who plays Kung Lao in these movies, shared pictures from the wrap party! You can check them out at the bottom of this article, along with some images producer Todd Garner shared to social media during the production.

We learned in November that Jeffrey Donovan would not be returning for Season 23 of Law & Order and now we know how his character was written off the show.
In Thursday night’s Season 23 premiere, we were introduced to previously announced new series regular Reid Scott as Det. Vincent Riley, who fills the void left by Donovan.
The departure of Donovan’s Frank Cosgrove was explained in a short conversation between Riley and Det. Shaw (Mehcad Brooks). About a third of the way through the episode, titled “Freedom of Expression”, Riley asks Shaw what happened to Cosgrove, Shaw’s last partner, sharing that he knew him previously, calling him a great cop. Shaw replied, “Great cop, just got jammed up,” adding “Being too honest about things people aren’t too honest about these days.”
“Yeah, it is not a great time to have an opinion, is it?” Riley asks.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Law & Order Season 23 premiere “Freedom of Expression.”] Detective Jalen Shaw (Mehcad Brooks) has a new partner in Law & Order Season 23 in Detective Vincent Riley (Reid Scott), after the exit of Jeffrey Donovan over the hiatus. But given that the Season 22 finale didn’t set up his exit, how was Detective Frank Cosgrove’s absence explained in the premiere? It’s a third of the way through the episode that Riley asks Shaw what happened with Cosgrove, sharing he knew him a little back in the day and calling him a good cop. “Great cop, just got jammed up,” Shaw says. You might have even more questions than you already did about the newest Law & Order detective, Vincent Riley, played by Reid Scott, after reading what the actors who play the two characters who will be interacting with him the most, Camryn Manheim (Lieutenant Kate Dixon) and Mehcad Brooks (Detective Jalen Shaw). Riley is coming in as Shaw’s new partner, following the exit of Jeffrey Donovan (who played Detective Frank Cosgrove). Shaw is “dealing with that in full stride,” Brooks told TV Insider on the red carpet of Svu‘s 25th season celebration. “Reid Scott as an actor is incredible. He’s a perfect choice for this role. He has a sort of a redemptive path that Shaw finds out about a little later, which causes for some amicable conflict if you will, but there’s a wonderful relationship that the two characters have.” He continued, “Reid and I have talked about this thoroughly,...

A new NYPD detective will be joining the force on the upcoming 23rd season of Law & Order. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Veep alum Reid Scott has joined the upcoming season as a new series regular on the NBC police procedural, portraying an as-yet unamed NYPD detective.
Scott will feel the void left by former series regular Jeffrey Donovan, who recently exited the show over creative differences. Donovan portrayed Det. Frank Cosgrove in seasons 21 and 22 of the mothership Law & Order drama from Dick Wolf’s Wolf Entertainment.
This marks the second detective change on the revival. Anthony Anderson, who reprised his role as Det. Kevin Bernard from the series’ original run, left after Season 21 and was succeeded by Mehcad Brooks, who joined the cast in Season 22 as Frank’s new partner Jalen Shaw.
The Law & Order cast also includes Sam Waterston as Da Jack McCoy, Hugh Dancy as senior prosecutorial assistant Nolan Price, and Camryn Manheim (The Practice) as Lt. Kate Dixon.
Law & Order, which premieres its 23rd season on January 18, 2024, is produced by Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
Scott recently starred in the fifth and final season of Emmy-winning The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel after recurring in Season 4. He can currently be seen starring in the “Daphne” episode of FX anthology series American Horror Stories. He earlier starred on another Emmy-winning comedy, HBO’s Veep, for seven seasons. Scott just wrapped production on the Amazon film Idea of You, starring opposite Anne Hathaway and directed by Michael Showalter. Reid also stars in, and executive produced the pandemic comedy Who Invited Charlie? opposite Adam Palley and Jordana Brewster, as well as the comedy ensemble Wildflower. Scott is repped by Gersh, Impression Entertainment and Ggssc.

It looks like there’s going to need to be a new detective working alongside Jalen Shaw (Mehcad Brooks) when Law & Order returns for its 23rd season (a premiere date has yet to be announced). Jeffrey Donovan, who has played Detective Frank Cosgrove on the NBC drama since it returned for its 21st season in 2022, is exiting ahead of the new season, reports TVLine. According to the outlet’s sources, he “was let go for creative reasons” and there will be a new series regular joining the cast, which, in addition to Brooks, includes Sam Waterston (D.A. Jack McCoy), Camryn Manheim (Lieutenant Kate Dixon), Hugh Dancy (Ada Nolan Price), and Odelya Halevi (Ada Samantha Maroun). Brooks came in as Cosgrove’s partner last season after Anthony Anderson, who returned from the original run as Detective Kevin Bernard for one season, exited. Now, it’ll be Shaw’s turn to get a new partner.

It’s been two years since the release of the live action Mortal Kombat reboot, and a sequel is on the way soon. Filming on Mortal Kombat 2 actually kicked off earlier this summer, you may recall, but it didn’t last long due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes going on at the time. Producer James Wan revealed last night on Ig that filming is officially underway on Mortal Kombat 2, which has Simon McQuoid returning to the director’s seat from a screenplay by Jeremy Slater (“The Exorcist,” “Moon Knight”).

It’s interesting to note that Herriman previously voiced the role of Kabal in the 2021 film.
Newcomers to the sequel also include Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, Tati Gabrielle as Jade and Adeline Rudolph as Kitana.

The character didn’t appear in the recent Mortal Kombat movie, but a post-credit scene teased that he would be on his way. It was announced earlier this year that Karl Urban was in talks to play Johnny Cage. I’m excited to see the actor in costume for the first time, but I have no doubt that he’s going to knock the role out of the park.

Mortal Kombat director Simon McQuoid is returning to the helm for the sequel that we’ll refer to as Mortal Kombat 2 until someone tells us otherwise. Filming on this follow-up is expected to begin soon (unless the writers strike causes a delay), and over the last month and a half McQuoid has been steadily building up his cast. The Boys star Karl Urban has been cast to play Johnny Cage; Adeline Rudolph (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) is set to play Princess Kitana; and Tati Gabrielle (You) is taking on the role of Jade, the friend and bodyguard of Princess Kitana. Now Deadline reports that four more actors have joined the cast, filling the roles of Outworld emperor Shao Kahn, Kahn’s wife Queen Sindel, Netherrealm demon Quan Chi, and Jerrod, who was the King of Edenia (and married to Sindel) until Edenia’s warriors lost in the Mortal Kombat tournament.
