HBO’s Friday night talk staple Real Time with Bill Maher is getting at least two more seasons on the premium cable network.
HBO announced Wednesday that Real Time, which debuted in 2003, will air for a 23rd season next year and a 24th season in 2026. It is HBO’s second-longest-running series ever, only behind Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel, which recently concluded.
Real Time’s current run was set to expire at the end of this year.
“For 22 seasons and counting, Bill Maher remains a uniquely powerful voice in politics and culture,” added HBO programming, late-night and specials chief Nina Rosenstein. “Real Time is the rare place where people can both disagree and find common ground, which is more vital than ever. One of HBO’s longest-running series ever will further extend its time on the premium cable channel.
HBO has picked up two more seasons of Real Time With Bill Maher, which will take the weekly talk show through its 24th season in 2026. The show’s current order was due to expire at the end of this year.
The renewal comes a few months after HBO also extended its other late-night staple, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, through 2026.

Bill Maher is getting more time for “Real Time” at HBO and its parent, Warner Bros. Discovery.

The renewal keeps the acerbic comedian and commentator dishing out “New Rules” for the foreseeable future, which includes the 2024 presidential election, and, most likely, developments on issues close to Maher’s heart, including climate change, Donald Trump’s proposed political polices and liberal overreach.

HBO is staying in the Bill Maher business.
The Warner Bros. Discovery-owned cable network has renewed Real Time with Bill Maher for two more seasons. It means Maher will stay on the network through the end of 2026 and take him close to 700 episodes of the show, which launched in 2003.

Jason Momoa is hitting the road again. The actor has struck a deal for a second season of his documentary series On the Roam with Max.
The first season, filmed over the span of three years, follows the actor as he travels through the U.S. “chasing art, adventure, and friendship through the lens of craftsmanship.” Momoa spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the project at the top of the year and explained what motivated him to carve out time from his busy schedule of top-lining movie franchises and pricey Apple series to ride his bike out to rural locales.
He also explained why he identifies as a dirtbag.
“I used to live out of my car, carry my world and my rucksack,” Momoa said over the Zoom conversation, during which he also partially disrobed. “So, from the climber’s point of view, a dirtbag is just someone who’s really in nature,...

Exclusive: Four years after his fourth acclaimed comedy special The Great Depresh premiered on HBO, comedian Gary Gulman has set his latest, Born on Third Base, to debut on Max. Directed and produced by James Webb (Mark Normand: Soup to Nuts), his new hour will debut on the streaming platform this December.
In Born on Third Base, Gulman offers up his insights on a range of topics — from growing up poor to pretentious suffixes — all with a generous helping of his inventive humor and absurdism. While chronicling his childhood experiences with free school lunch programs and questionable dental care, and experiences with his eccentric Jewish American family, the stand-up makes an incisive swipe or two at billionaire-ism.
Written, performed, and executive produced by Gulman, the special’s other EPs are Conan O’Brien, Michael Bonfiglio, Brian Stern, Jeff Ross, and J.P. Buck.

Leo Reich, star and executive producer, quote: “To have been given the opportunity to turn this flamboyant, odd, over-the-top, exhausting show into a comedy special is a dream come true in itself. Being able to make something with the most creative production house for the most innovative network is a privilege that usually only befalls like, Zendaya. Conan O'Brien may have been out of the late-night talk show game for a couple of years, but that doesn't seem to have slowed him down. After "Conan" ended in 2021, the legendary host started his own podcast, "Conan Needs A Friend," which has since spawned several off-shoots, one of which has now formed the basis for a new Conan-fronted show on Warner Bros Discovery's newly renamed Max service.
The streamer just announced "Conan O'Brien Must Go," a new four-episode international travel show that's currently in production over at Max. The idea here is that O'Brien will travel the world to meet fans he previously spoke with on his spin-off podcast "Conan Needs A Fan," in which he chatted with Zoomers around the globe. O'Brien's own Conaco company is producing the show, which is executive produced by the man himself and his longtime producing partner Jeff Ross.
