General Hospital (Gh) spoilers tease that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard) has grown more volatile in recent weeks.
As viewers know, Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) has had Sonny’s bi-polar medication tampered with so that he’s only receiving about a quarter of his prescribed dosage.
Not only that, rival mob boss Selina We (Lydia Look) believes that Sonny and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) have been working together all this time to kill off all the other mob bosses in the country.
General Hospital Spoilers – Selina Wu Believes Sonny Corinthos May Be After Her Next!
Although Selina is wrong about Sonny and Jason, that won’t keep her from taking steps to protect herself. She might also see Sonny’s volatile behavior as the perfect time to strike and to take over Sonny’s territory by force.
But she may not have the resources to make that kind of move without some help.

General Hospital spoilers tease that Selina Wu (Lydia Look) hasn’t been seen much in the last couple months. She paid a visit to Curtis Ashford (Donell Turner) not long after Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) return.
It wasn’t all that long ago that Selina was in the thick of things in Port Charles. Between her backroom poker games at the Savor and he stake in Deception, Selina had amassed quite a power base inside Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Bernard) territory.
General Hospital Spoilers – Lydia Look Has A New Role!
“So chuffed to be voicing Matron of the Mountain Clan & kicking ass in [Star Wars: Tales of the Empire] now streaming on [Disney+],” she enthused on Instagram. “Ps – I’m the bottom left character in the halo of light. Thank you [Dave Filoni] & team for letting me be part of this galaxy.

General Hospital (Gh) spoilers tease that Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) was believed to be dead after an explosion on Cassadine Island. But unknown to anyone, Jason was apprehended by the FBI and was given an impossible choice.
Special Agent John “Jagger” Cates (Adam Harrington) had obtained a recording of Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) admitting she was in charge of the Corinthos Organization during a meeting between all the local mob bosses of New York.
Carly only assumed that role when Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard) was presumed dead and Jason wasn’t available to attend the meeting himself.
General Hospital Spoilers – Jason Morgan Became An Informant For The FBI
Cates agreed not to send Carly to prison as long as Jason worked as an informant for the FBI undercover. During that whole time, Jason’s family and friends believed him to be dead while Jason moved up the ranks of the Pikeman Group.

This list contains series that will brighten up even the most difficult everyday life. At the same time, each of them is not an empty trinket, suitable only for wasting time and forgetting, but an individual and stylish project, made with real wit and screenwriting skill.
1. Veep, 2012-2019
Few mock politics as blatantly as Armando Iannucci's satirical sitcom. The show mocks not only the main character, Selina Meyer, but also her hapless team trying to keep Selina in power. As the show progresses, Meyer becomes President of the US, but does not stay in that position for long.
Veep is, of course, a show for those who love when jokes are delivered at machine-gun speed, the morals of political managers are mocked in the most merciless way, and political reality appears as a series of paradoxes.

General Hospital spoilers tease that for several years now Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard) and Selina Wu (Lydia Look) have co-existed in Port Charles. As the only two family left of the five crime families that operated in northeast, Sonny and Selina have managed to mostly stay out of each others way.
Sonny even allowed Selina to operate her illegal poker game at the Savoy since it didn’t conflict with any of Sonny’s criminal interests in town. But there have been a few cracks in their relationship, especially in the last year of so.

For many around the world, there’s one name at the top of the action totem pole: Jackie Chan, and today marks his 70th birthday.
If you only know him as a goofy martial arts comedian from the Rush Hour and Shanghai Noon series, then consider this a wake up call. Because when Jackie did things His way on his home turf, he churned out some of the best action movies you’ll ever see.
Many would point to Drunken Master II as Jackie’s magnum opus. Fair enough, that is an all-timer, but for an example of his best modern day martial arts action, mixed in with some crime drama and his signature comedy, one of his absolute best outings is 1985’s Police Story.

“When I was a kid, there was a gangster, real old school type,” recalls Oswald Cobblepot at the start of the trailer for The Penguin. Anyone who has seen a gangster flick before recognizes that kind of talk. Henry Hill, Tony Soprano, Michael Corleone — wiseguys love to wax poetic about the past.
It’s no secret that the classic Batman villain was a highlight of 2021’s The Batman, with director Matt Reeves taking a more grounded approach to the bird-themed character that removed the bright colors and gimmicks. The Penguin’s storyline in the movie focused on his rise through the mob and his spinoff series will continue that tale of ascendance, as Cobblepot works to fill the void in the Gotham underworld left in the wake of Carmine Falcone’s death.
But the Penguin isn’t the only mobster from the comics who will appear or be referenced on this gangster show.

Separately, Natalia’s (Eva Larue) surprise for Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) doesn’t go over well, and Jordan (Tanisha Harper) contemplates her future.

General Hospital spoilers for next week’s episodes of the ABC soap tease that more surprises are on the way.
The writers wasted no time revealing Jason (Steve Burton) is alive and well, and with more people finding out about it, the reactions across Port Charles will vary.
How he fits into what’s been happening with Sonny (Maurice Benard) will be worked out, but how long the writers drag it out remains to be seen.
February sweeps were lackluster for the ABC soap, but March is shaping up to be somewhat better — especially as the twists and turns in the shooter storyline keep coming.
There is also plenty of other drama happening in Port Charles, too.

General Hospital spoilers tease the time has come for Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) to make his presence known.
It’s been over two and a half years since Jason was last on-screen.
He was presumed dead in a tunnel collapse after saving Drew (Cameron Mathison).
Everyone in Port Charles mourned the loss, but now, they are about to be confronted with the realization that Jason is alive — but is he well?
A first look was revealed, showing Jason with a bloodied hand standing near a dumpster. He was presumably at the warehouse where Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Selina (Lydia Look) met, and the preview video confirms that.
Here’s what to expect this week on General Hospital.

General Hospital announced the return of Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) during the 60th anniversary special earlier this year.
It wasn’t a shock to viewers who have been following Steve’s career, as when he exited General Hospital in 2021, and Jason was presumed dead, he moved on to playing Harris Michaels on Peacock’s Days of our Lives.
The news of Jason’s return has been met with mixed reactions, as this is the third time he’s walked away from the show, only to come back again and again.
Before his return this last time, he left General Hospital to play Dylan McAvoy on CBS’ The Young and the Restless. Some viewers were disgusted that he walked away to a rival soap, and when he came back, Billy Miller (who was the nuJason) was shafted and made into the new (and unnecessary) character, Drew Cain.

“Do you know what they would do to you in Iran?” he asks, and it’s as if she’s supposed to feel lucky.
We meet Shayda (Zar Amir Ebrahimi) as she’s touring an Australian airport with her young daughter Mona (Selina Zahednia). The seven-year-old needs to learn where to go, who to talk to, what to do if she finds herself there without her mother. They never talk, in so many words, about the possibility of her being abducted, but viewers will see Shayda’s fear. That’s about to get worse as – despite the fact that the pair have moved into a women’s shelter – a court decides that, for the meantime at least, the man they are afraid of should have unsupervised alone time with the child.
He is Hossein (Osamah Sami), and he comes bearing gifts, showering his kid with affection as such men are wont to do.

After several attempts were made on his life, General Hospital viewers wondered who was after mob boss Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
There haven’t been many answers, and many questions are piling up.
The addition of John “Jagger” Cates (Adam Harrington) was something no one could have seen coming. However, after the most recent episode of Gh, it seems it was pretty pivotal to have him on the case.
Someone who knows Sonny’s business has to be behind the attempts on his life, and we know it wasn’t Dex (Evan Hofer).
After a meeting with Selina Wu (Lydia Look), Sonny came into some new clues about who could be behind what’s happening.
Here’s who we think may be behind the attempts on Sonny’s life and the one who unintentionally injured Curtis (Donnell Turner) in the process.

Suzy Eddie Izzard bowed for each role on Sunday after the opening night of her one-woman show of Hamlet.
The show opened in the Greenwich House Theater in New York City. The script, a rendition of William Shakespeare’s play Hamlet was written by her brother, Mark Izzard. Actress Selina Cadell directed the play.
Izzard was met with applause and positive reviews. In the show, Izzard played a diverse ensemble of characters, including kings, queens, soldiers and ghosts. Hamlet is said to be one of Shakespeare’s most challenging plays to perform.
In 2023, Izzard, Mark and Cadell produced a separate one-woman show of Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. The show was performed on Broadway and London’s West End.
Izzard said about the show, “This is a production for everyone, a timeless drama with an accidental hero. Selina, Mark and I want audiences to see and hear an accessible, touching,...

These days, "Batman Returns" rightfully gets its due. But Tim Burton's sequel to his 1989 effort, "Batman," was assailed by critics upon its release, who felt that it was either too dark, too overcrowded with characters, lacking in plot, or just plain weird. Even many fans were ticked off by the Burton-ness of the whole thing and felt the director and screenwriter, Daniel Waters, had strayed too far from the core of the Dark Knight.
In a way, they were right. Burton had let his freak flag fly, making his own movie and not necessarily a Batman movie. Waters admitted as much after a recent screening of "Returns," saying (via IndieWire):
"It was a weird assignment in that I didn't need to please anyone but Tim Burton. Before the internet, you didn't have to go before a tribunal and say what you were doing — it was just two guys in a room riffing.

Believe it or not, the dreadful 2004 Catwoman was not the movie Warner Bros. set out to make. After Michelle Pfeiffer‘s stunning turn as Selina Kyle in Batman Returns, nobody initially thought, “Yes, but what if we get some terrible French commercial director to shoot a story about a different cat lady fighting a budget-Emma Frost like it’s a perfume ad?” In the truth, the Catwoman project went through many iterations, not landing on the laughable mess that stalled the career of Halle Berry (who’s actually quite good in Catwoman) until the early 2000s.
Recently, Batman Returns screenwriter Daniel Waters shared some ideas about the original treatment for a Catwoman spinoff that director Tim Burton himself wanted to make after his Batman sequel. As revealed to IndieWire after a screening in Los Angeles in December, Burton had no intention of continuing the superhero route for his Catwoman film.

Disagreements over the script for a Michelle Pfeiffer-headlined Catwoman movie from Tim Burton have been revealed: more here.
By the time he came to the end of shooting 1992’s Batman Returns, director Tim Burton pretty much knew that his time in Gotham City was at an end. His decision to not return for what became Batman Forever suited both him and Warner Bros (not least because of the backlash). But still, there was the olive branch of a Catwoman spin-off movie, that would have starred Michelle Pfeiffer.
This was actually rumoured for some time, and some work was done on the feature.
Daniel Waters, who penned Batman Returns, was hired to take a pass at a Catwoman feature, and as he described just before Christmas (courtesy of IndieWire), he pitched a film where Selina Kyle/Catwoman would have moved to “a Los Angeles version of Gotham City”.

Tim Burton wanted to make ‘Batman Returns’ an $18 million black-and-white version of 1942’s ‘Cat People’. The ‘Batman’ director ended up producing a movie featuring Michelle Pfeiffer as Selina Kyle, who becomes Catwoman, and Michael Keaton returning as the caped crusader. But its screenwriter Daniel Waters told Variety about the torturous process of making the 1992 movie: “(Tim) wanted to do an $18 million black-and-white movie, like the original ‘Cat People,’ of Selina just low-key living in a small town. “And I wanted to make a ‘Batman’ movie where the metaphor was about Batman. “So I had (Selina) move to a Los Angeles version of Gotham City, and it’s run by three asshole superheroes. “It was ‘The Boys’ before ‘The Boys.’ But he got exhausted reading my script.” Indie Wire has reported Daniel’s idea for ‘Batman Returns’ was to also satirise the franchise built around the vigilante. It was reportedly originally...

Daniel Waters, the screenwriter behind 1992’s Batman Returns, said the proposed “Catwoman” spinoff from that film had two very different takes.
Waters spoke during a December 22 Los Angeles screening of Batman Returns at the Egyptian Theater.
Director Tim Burton wanted “Catwoman” to be an intimate drama shot in black and white to pay tribute to Jacques Tourneur’s iconic 1942 horror film, Cat People.
On the other hand, Waters wanted a satirical take wherein Catwoman moves to Los Angeles and takes on three corrupt superheroes.

“Batman Returns” screenwriter Daniel Waters described differences between his creative vision for a “Catwoman” spinoff and that of sequel director Tim Burton.
The spinoff project would have centered on Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman, and Waters envisioned a comic book satire film much like Prime Video’s “The Boys.” Burton, though, imagined Pfeiffer’s Selina Kyle living in a small town. Waters unveiled details in a recent discussion about “Batman Returns” (1992) after a screening of the film at the Egyptian Theatre.

Every “Batman Returns” fan worth their salt knows that following the success of Tim Burton’s twisted Christmas classic, Warner Bros. started developing a spinoff featuring Michelle Pfeiffer’s breakout villainess Catwoman. What they probably don’t know is that Burton had some unique ideas for a superhero blockbuster, including going black and white to pay tribute to Jacques Tourneur’s iconic 1942 horror film, “Cat People.”
Daniel Waters, the screenwriter behind 1992’s “Batman Returns,” spoke about the proposed Catwoman spinoff and revealed some behind-the-scenes tidbits about both films during a recent Los Angeles screening of “Returns” on December 22 at the Egyptian. Rotten Tomatoes and the Academy Awards don’t often go hand in hand. In fact, the Rt scores of Best Picture nominees/winners are a mixed bag. “Parasite” won Best Picture with a Rt score of 99% while “Green Book” emerged victorious with a score of just 77%. The site dishes out percentage scores to movie’s based on the film’s collection of critical reviews. The higher the score, the better the movie. Supposedly.
But, that’s not how it always work in tandem with the Oscars. For instance, “Black Panther,” “BlacKkKlansman,” and “Roma” all scored 96% but lost Best Picture to “Green Book.” Perhaps, if the Oscars listened to Rotten Tomatoes more, things would go a little more smoothly? Probably not but, just for fun, let’s pretend that Rotten Tomatoes are in charge of this year’s Academy Awards.

Danger is never very far away in Noora Niasari’s confident debut, a deeply personal tribute to a generation torn between tradition and modernity. Focusing on the title character, Shayda hangs on a vulnerable but powerful performance from Holy Spider’s Zar Amir Ebrahimi as an Iranian divorcée hiding out from her abusive ex, who may or may not be planning to smuggle their daughter Mona (Selina Zahednia) back to Iran.
This fear is played out in the jittery opening sequence, set in 1995, when Shayda and Joyce (Leah Purcell), a social worker of sorts, scope out an airport with Mona in tow. Both women impress upon Mona what to do if she should ever end up there against her will, noting repeatedly that blue uniforms equate with safety. Back at the women’s shelter, a shared hostel in a fiercely secret suburban location, Shayda wonders how she got to this...

A 5-year-old Iranian child and her mother find refuge in an Australian women’s shelter while on the run from an abusive ex in Noora Niasari’s Shayda. It’s a very personal story for Niasari because she was that little girl, played in the film by new discovery Selina Zahednia, with Zar Amir Ebrahimi starring as her mom, Shayda. Niasari knew it was a risk to make her debut with a project so close to her heart. “There’s a really deep challenge when making work about one’s trauma,” she says. Produced by Cate Blanchett’s Dirty Films, the film is Australia’s Oscar entry for Best International Feature Film.
Deadline: What made you want to tell this deeply personal story based on your own childhood? The whole experience must have been very emotional and difficult.

Viewers of Merry Little Batman meet Damian Wayne as the lovable scamp who chases his cat Selina through the halls of stately Wayne Manor, decked in a blanket for a cape and a brown paper bag for a cowl, just like his dear old dad, Batman. The delightful holiday special imagines Damian as a good-hearted soul who wants nothing more than to be like his pop, and doesn’t even get too upset at his father’s overprotective demands. When the Joker returns to Gotham while Batman is trapped in the Arctic, Damian gets his chance to prove that he deserves to be called “Son of the Bat.”
But comic book readers first met Damian under very different circumstances. In a 1987 graphic novel by Mike W. Barr and Jerry Bingham, Batman reluctantly joins forces with eco-terrorist Ra’s al Ghul to take down the assassin Quain. During the alliance, Batman...

Director Noora Niasari’s debut Shayda––and Australia’s submission for Best International Feature at next year’s Oscars––is quite literally a lifetime in the making. Largely inspired by traumatic events from her own childhood as an Iranian immigrant in Australia, Niasari has repeatedly expressed that she still has a difficult time speaking about her film, the events depicted continuing to touch a raw nerve even as she’s separated from them by decades. And while the resulting work is too narrative-focused to ever be described as a pure “memory piece,” it’s littered with highly specific, lived-in details that appear to be directly lifted from her own experiences.
The prominence of a Simba Happy Meal toy as a recurring factor in the plot, for example, feels like an inclusion only afforded relevance because the director was a child when first bearing witness to similar events. Of course a...

Eddie Izzard will play 23 characters in William Shakespeare’s Hamlet this winter in a new Off Broadway production adapted by brother Mark Izzard.
The Izzards’ Hamlet will begin a six-week limited run at the Greenwich House Theater on January 25, with opening night set for February 11. Selena Cadell directs.
The production reunites the Izzards and Cadell following last year’s sold-out run of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations, which also played at the Greenwich House in addition to London’s West End. Hamlet is produced by WestBeth Entertainment, Mick Perrin Worldwide, and John Gore.
“I have always gravitated towards playing complex and challenging characters and Hamlet is the ultimate,” Izzard said in a statement. “This is a production for everyone, a timeless drama with an accidental hero. Selina, Mark, and I want audiences to see and hear an accessible, touching, scary and dramatic Hamlet.”

"I am not afraid." Sony Pictures Classics has debuted a new US trailer for the outstanding film Shayda, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Noora Niasari. It first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, winning the Audience Award in the World Cinema Dramatic section. I saw it at Sundance and it's fantastic - one of the best feature debuts of this year. When the girl's father shows up, it takes all of her courage to fight back and stop him from taking over. The extremely talented Zahra Amir Ebrahimi (also from last year's Holy Spider) stars, with Osamah Sami, Leah Purcell, Jillian Nguyen, Mojean Aria, Selina Zahednia, Rina Mousavi. Australia has selected Shayda, from Iranian-Australian debut writer and director Noora Niasari, as its submission for the Best International Feature Film Oscar race.
The drama, which counts Cate Blanchett among its executive producers and was acquired by Sony Pictures Classics for North America among other markets, world premiered at Sundance in January where it won the World Cinema Audience Award.
It went on to open the Melbourne International Film Festival and was the closing-night screening at Locarno. It is next set for TIFF and will be released in Oz on October 5 via Madman.

Exclusive: Two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett, who is an executive producer on Noora Niasari’s debut film Shayda, will not be attending the pic’s August 12 closing-night screening at the Locarno Film Festival out of support for the SAG-AFTRA strike. Niasari and star Zar Amir Ebrahimi will attend the movie’s play at the Swiss fest.
“As executive producer I couldn’t be more proud of Shayda, the remarkable debut feature from Iranian-Australian Noora Niasari, starring the extraordinary Zar Amir Ebrahimi,” Blanchett said in a statement to Deadline. “I celebrate the work of the whole filmmaking team and am thrilled that the film can be seen at the closing night of the glorious Locarno Festival next week.”
She added: “As a dedicated member of the SAG-AFTRA Foundation Actors’ Council, I have made the difficult but necessary decision not to attend at this crucial time. Dirty Films wholeheartedly supports Noora Niasari’s resonant,...

"How do you plan on surviving there all alone?" Madman Films in Australia has revealed an official trailer for a wonderful film titled Shayda, marking the feature directorial debut of a talented filmmaker named Noora Niasari. This is screening soon at the 2023 Melbourne Film Festival before it opens in Australia this September. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, winning the Audience Award in the World Cinema Dramatic section. I saw it during Sundance and it's fantastic - one of the best feature debuts of the entire year. A young Iranian mother named Shayda and her six-year-old daughter find refuge in an Australian women's shelter during the two weeks of the Iranian New Year. When the girl's father shows up, it takes all of her courage to fight back and stop him from taking over. The extremely talented Zahra Amir Ebrahimi (also from last year's Holy Spider) stars,...
