Tate McPherson Coston
- Actor
Tate Coston grew up in Kennesaw, Georgia, not acting, but rather pursuing his love of basketball and tennis. Somewhere along the way (when he realized he wasn't going to be in the NBA) his passion transitioned to the arts, specifically film and theater.
He went on to study at Emory University, getting his bachelors in Fine Arts. Tate's time in college is where he cultivated love for the arts, as well as his obsession with acting. Shortly after he graduated, Tate applied to be background for Stranger Things, filming in Atlanta. A few days later he got hired as background, having never been on a real set before. Before Tate worked a day of background, he was asked if he would be able to work as the Steve Harrington photo double for the duration of season 4. This led to more photo double, as well as stand-in, opportunities around Atlanta, including on the aptly named show, "Atlanta".
For this job, Tate was the stand-in for the lead of the episode, Aaron, played by an actor named Tyriq Withers. Tyriq asked Tate if he would be interested in joining the acting classes he takes in town, Acts of Freedom. Tate joined this class coached by Malik J. Ali. At the end of this 8 week class, there is a showcase in which actors are able to perform to anyone who is interested in attending. Unbeknownst to Tate, there were representatives from Forward The Agency at the show.
Following the showcase, Forward The Agency gave him an audition and signed Tate in August of 2022. Now, he is auditioning at home, honing his craft at Acts of Freedom, and learning how to make the world a better place with love and encouragement.
