In honor of March Madness, the annual NCAA college basketball tournament which climaxes with the men’s final next Monday (April 3), we here at TV Insider decided to put together a TV-themed bracket. And what better way to leave you making the tough choices than by having you choose between some of the most popular couples over the years? Our bracket began with 32 couples, from shows from the past such as The Brady Bunch and I Love Lucy; the ’90s like ER, The X-Files, and Friends; popular triangles like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Dawson’s Creek; and ones still on now like NCIS: Los Angeles and Outlander. We had comedies, dramas, and sci-fi/fantasy (The Flash and The Walking Dead). Those 32 then competed across five rounds. And the Final Four were: ER‘s Dr. Doug Ross (George Clooney) and Nurse Carol ...

March Madness is well underway, as is our Ultimate TV Couple bracket for these few weeks. So who has made it into our Final Four? Well, all four couples have been off-air for some time already (some more than others). ER‘s Dr. Doug Ross (George Clooney) and Nurse Carol Hathaway (Julianna Margulies) are facing off against Bones‘ Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz), while Modern Family‘s Mitch Pritchett (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam Tucker (Eric Stonestreet) are going head to head with I Love Lucy‘s Lucy (Lucille Ball) and Ricky Ricardo (Desi Arnaz). Remember, we started with 32 couples from shows past and present, comedy and drama. Now, we’re heading into our final two rounds, running from now through March 23, then March 23 through March 25 (rounds start at 2:30 p.m. Et on the noted day). And there have been some big surprises so far.

He’s received eight Oscar nominations – including the rare Pawd – and won twice: as supporting actor for “Syriana” (2006) and as a producer on Best Picture victor “Argo” (2013). But George Clooney has never taken home an Emmy statuette, unless you count his special Bob Hope Humanitarian Award in 2010 (which we don’t).
However, Clooney will now have another prime opportunity to be honored with the announcement that Showtime has given a straight-to-series order to the political thriller series “The Department,” with Clooney attached to direct and executive produce along with partner Grant Heslov through their Smokehouse Pictures banner. The show is being produced in partnership with MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios.

If you can’t do what Julia Roberts did for her Bff George Clooney, are you even a Bff? ‘Erin Brockovich’ star Julia Roberts wore a gown covered with photos of Hollywood star George Clooney.
The two have worked together in many movies like ‘Ocean’s Eleven’, ‘Ocean’s Twelve’, ‘Money Monster’ and ‘Ticket to Paradise’. The 55-year-old actress made her fun fashion statement to show support for George, 61 at the Kennedy Center Honours ceremony in Washington DC, reports ‘The Mirror’.
Her dress featured framed snaps of the actor throughout his career, dating from his early days as Doug Ross on ER. The actress rounded up her look with a black jacket.

George Clooney’s career has evolved from a hot handyman dripping with charisma to a, well, hot Oscar-winning actor and producer dripping with charisma. But his resume isn’t all that’s changed in the past four decades – his hair has, too. Here is the long and short of it.
As a kid growing up in Kentucky, little George Timothy Clooney sported shaggy brown bangs. The hair doesn’t scream “George Clooney,” but the eyes and grin sure do.
1985 • Well into building an acting career, Clooney sat for a typical Hollywood-style photoshoot showing off his gorgeous wavy locks and fashionable (at the time) mullet.
1988 • A gig on “Roseanne” brought Clooney some notoriety… for both him and that fabulous head of hair.
1989 • Clooney hit the road to promote his new film “Red Surf” (notice the poster behind him) playing a — you guessed it — surfer who enjoys the lifestyle drug money brings him.

For Julianna Margulies, money isn't everything. In a clip of the actress' upcoming appearance on Oprah Winfrey's Super Soul show, airing on discovery+ this Saturday, May 1, Julianna reveals that she was offered $27 million to stay on the medical drama for two more seasons. At the time, the ER star had already appeared in six seasons as Carol Hathaway, alongside George Clooney's Doug Ross, and was ready to try something new. She shares, "I was going back to New York to go and do this play and then all this money came up. Everyone I asked said, 'You'd be crazy [not to]. Take the money, take the money.'" But she says that she had already resolved to...

There’s an old saying that bad memories die faster than good ones. That’s apparently true for the cast of ER, which reunited Thursday night for an upbeat Zoom call that brought laughs, tears and awe as they reviewed some old clips.
There was visible affection shared by the attendees on the call, as they reminisced about such things as stitching pigs feet off-camera to practice their techniques, getting cell phones from Steven Spielberg as a Christmas gift, and learning the medical jargon from real doctors who consulted the show.
The call included George Clooney, Noah Wyle, Julianna Margulies, Anthony Edwards, Ming-Na Wen, Gloria Reuben, Goran Visnjic and Cch Pounder in its first hour.

George Clooney will receive this year’s career achievement honor at AARP The Magazine’s Movies For Grownup Awards in March.
“We are delighted to honor George Clooney, whose mastery and — wit — make him one of the most talented and beloved actors of our day, and a director who’d be famous even if we’d never seen him onscreen,” AARP CEO Jo Ann Jenkins said in a statement. “The combination of his smarts, hard work and experience shows just how wrong stereotypes about aging are.”
The award celebrates Clooney’s decades-long career in Hollywood, beginning with his rise to prominence as Dr. Doug Ross on “ER” in the ‘90s to films like “O Brother, Where Art Thou?,” “Ocean’s Eleven” and “Up in the Air.” He made his directorial debut with “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind” in 2002 and, most recently, directed Netflix’s “The Midnight Sky” and Hulu’s “Catch-22.

A movie that’s set partly in outer space and partly in the frozen expanses of the Arctic, “The Midnight Sky” is by far the biggest and most ambitious of the seven movies that George Clooney has directed. Based on the novel by Lily Brooks-Dalton, it takes place about 30 years in the future, when an unspecified calamity has threatened to make Earth unlivable and a team of astronauts is returning from a scouting mission at a potentially inhabitable moon of Jupiter.
In addition to directing, Clooney plays a key role in the earthbound scenes as a terminally ill scientist named Augustine Lofthouse who’s remained behind at an Arctic base that he thinks is deserted until he encounters a young girl, Iris (Caoilinn Springall). He’s driven to contact the returning astronauts, who include David Oyelowo, Felicity Jones, Kyle Chandler and Demian Bichir, to tell them not to come back...

On the surface, Joel Schumacher’s legendarily terrible Batman & Robin has absolutely nothing in common with Tim Burton’s classic original, and was so markedly different in almost every way that it still seems hard to believe it arrived just eight years later and technically takes place in the same timeline as Burton’s 1989 Gothic superhero blockbuster.
One area where the two movies do overlap, though, is with the villains being positioned at the forefront. Jack Nicholson took top billing ahead of Michael Keaton, which was to be expected when The Shining star was and still is regarded as one of the greatest actors to ever grace the screen, not to mention the man playing the Caped Crusader was best known for his comedic work at the time, and fans rebelled against the casting decision by bombarding Warner Bros. headquarters with letters of protest.

George Clooney might be one of the most famous faces in Hollywood with a reputation as a critically acclaimed actor and highly accomplished filmmaker that’s won two Academy Awards from eight nominations in total, as well as scooping four Golden Globes from thirteen nods on top of receiving the honorary Cecile B. DeMille Award for outstanding contributions to cinema, not to mention he’s an entrepreneur that sold his Casamigos tequila company for a billion dollars, but no matter what he does for the rest of his days, he’ll never be able to escape the shadow of Batman & Robin.
Clooney has long since made his peace with that fact, too, and while promoting his upcoming Netflix sci-fi The Midnight Sky, the conversation has inevitably turned to Joel Schumacher’s notoriously awful superhero movie on numerous occasions already. The long-running debate over which actor made the best Batman generally boils down to a face off between Christian Bale and Michael Keaton, although Adam West and Ben Affleck both have vocal supporters, while Kevin Conroy is often unfairly overlooked. However, no matter what your opinion, you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone that would give George Clooney a glowing reference.
Batman & Robin is comfortably the worst live-action movie to feature the Dark Knight in any capacity, and received such a poor reception from critics and fans that Joel Schumacher’s proposed fifth installment was abandoned in favor of sending the franchise into cold storage for close to a decade.
Schumacher had long since made peace with the fact that he’d face at least one question about Batman & Robin in every interview he did up until his recent passing, while Clooney is no stranger to taking shots at the dismal blockbuster,...

The comic book genre may have revived itself little over a year later when Stephen Norrington’s stylish and violent actioner Blade burst onto the scene in the summer of 1998, but there was genuine concern that Batman & Robin had killed the superhero movie for good. It wasn’t until Bryan Singer’s X-Men arrived in 2000 that the boom really started, and it still hasn’t finished, but after Joel Schumacher’s awful blockbuster was savaged by fans and critics, the immediate prognosis wasn’t looking too positive.

It’s funny what your mind holds onto over time, and 25 years after helping build “ER” into a bona fide television phenomenon, what director and producer Mimi Leder remembers is the floor.
“My memories of the beginning of ‘ER’ were of the building that set — John [Wells] and I looking at the floor and going, ‘That’s a great floor! Let’s use that!’ And I remember our D.P. going, ‘That’s awful.'”
But Leder pushed forward, laying a foundation for one of television’s most impactful series ever made. No one directed more “ER” episodes over those first two seasons and, as co-executive producer, Leder was entrusted with shaping the series that came after Rod Holcomb’s two-hour pilot — a pilot met with a lot of internal trepidation.

A decade ago, Mike Hais and Morley Winograd wrote “Millennial Makeover: MySpace, YouTube and the Future of Politics,” about how decentralized new social-media platforms and a huge, civic-minded young generation would dramatically transform American politics.
The pair built on previous sociology theory about generational change, and mixed in how emerging technologies such as the telegraph, radio, and TV had helped drive previous cyclical resets of American politics. They weren’t sure who would win in 2008, but thought a young Illinois senator might harness social media and generational shifts to win the White House.
Their book turned out to be prescient, though neither it nor a successor, “Millennial Momentum,” could predict what came after Obama. In 2016, a very different outsider candidate harnessed even more powerful and pervasive social media and Big Data to ignite a hyper-partisan, resentment-fueled, bubble-wrapped campaign. And here we are.
