- Irl graduated from Berklee College of Music in 1991 with a BM in Music Production and Engineering and a minor in Music Education. Moving directly to Los Angeles with a fiancée, 90,000 mile used car, and $3000, he got his foot in the door selling, designing, and installing custom audio-visual systems for celebrity homes, film studios, and A&R departments at major record labels.
After getting established, he moved on to become a freelance and staff recording and mixing engineer working with talents as diverse as The Waters Sisters, Placido Domingo, Engelbert Humperdinck, Kid 'n Play, Willie Nelson, Randy Crawford, The Association, Bebu Silvetti, Persian star Andy Madadian, cartoon composer Dale Schacker, and film composer Randy Edelman.
Purchasing one of the earliest digital editing systems to craft soundtrack albums, Irl moved laterally into music editorial for television, and has now edited over 8,000 hours of programming spanning all broadcast and cable networks, several dozen films, as well as commercials, web content, and sound installations at planetariums, casinos, and museums.
