- Roger Climpson was born on 18 October 1931 in Peterborough, England, United Kingdom.
Climpson emigrated to Australia in 1949. I n 1952, he meet his future wife Claire.
His television career started in 1957, when he commenced work as an announcer, weather reporter and news reader, with Channel 9.
Climpson left Channel 9 in 1965, after a pay dispute. Being now unemployed, he commenced working at his father's butcher shop.
During this time, he obtained a job with Channel 7 as a news reader, where he stayed for 15 years.
Now a very familiar face, he took on hosting "This Is Your Life", then returned to news reading in 1978.
In 1982, he retired from television, but returned in 1989 as news reader for "Seven News", where he stayed until 1995, when diagnosis of prostate cancer.
