She ultimately married The Duke of Aosta, cousin of King Victor Emmanuel III. Hélène's grandson is Amedeo Duca D'Aosta.

- On September 10, 1898, he unknowingly escaped assassination by anarchist Luigi Lucheni by leaving Geneva, Switzerland earlier than Lucheni had anticipated. Undaunted, he vowed to kill the first royal he met; the unfortunate royal was Empress Elisabeth, consort of Emperor Franz Josef.
