Outlander fans may be in the middle of yet another Droughtlander as they await new episodes on Starz, but for fans who watch the series on Netflix, there are some fresh installments to enjoy as Season 6 recently dropped on the platform. As of May 1, 2024, the sixth season of Diana Gabaldon‘s time-traversing fantasy romance series following the story of World War II combat nurse Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and 18th-century Highlander warrior Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), joined the first five streaming on the platform. For fans of the show, this drop has been a long time coming as Season 6 originally aired in 2022, two years prior to the Netflix drop. (Credit: Starz) If Netflix users want to be up to date for Part 2 of the show’s seventh season, they might want to consider subscribing to Starz, where all episodes of the series are currently streaming, including Season 7, Part 1, which premiered in June 2023. Are you experiencing symptoms of Droughtlander? Signs may include: watching old Outlander episodes over and over, even though you’ve seen them a dozen times already; repeatedly whispering “Sassenach” under your breath in a Scottish brogue, much to your friends’ consternation; toting around one (or more) of author Diana Gabaldon’s books in your bag just to feel something.
Yes, the long wait for new episodes of the series — which stars Caitríona Balfe as English time-traveler Claire and Sam Heughan as her Highlander love, Jamie — can be downright maddening. But, thankfully, there’s some relief to be had. For starters, the first six seasons are streaming on Netflix. And if you’re thirsty for even more of the romance, adventure, and intrigue that Outlander provides, consider these nine shows a refreshing drink of water (or Scotch whisky — we won’t judge). Dive in and you’ll soon be saying, “What Droughtlander?...

Time travel. Romance. Political intrigue. Bare bottoms. Yes, Outlander truly has something for everybody. Whether you’ve watched the beloved series a hundred times over or it’s your first encounter with feisty heroine Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and her hunky Highlander Jamie (Sam Heughan), the centuries-spanning story of love conquering all never gets old.
With Season 6 now streaming alongside its predecessors, there’s no time like the present to queue up these 12 essential episodes and get caught up in Jamie and Claire’s story all over again. (And dinna fash: We won’t tell if you rewind the steamiest parts over and over again…)
Still not enough for you? There’s an bounty of shows like Outlanderyou can check out after revisiting these episodes.

Claire finds her true love was living in the past, dashing Highland warrior Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan). Outlander: Blood of My Blood filming is officially underway in Scotland and with it comes the love stories of Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) parents and Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) parents. Chronicling the romances set in World War I England and the 18th-century Scottish Highlands, the show will explore two very different time periods, which eventually come crashing together with the help of Claire’s time-traveling abilities when she takes a fateful trip to Inverness. While the original television series is based on Diana Gabaldon‘s books, some fans may wonder how this spinoff will live up the franchise. (Credit: Theo Wargo/Getty Images for Starz) Well, Gabaldon put minds at ease when we spoke to the author in April 2023 for Outlander‘s Deluxe Collector’s Edition Issue as she revealed her own involvement in the prequel spinoff. “I will be writing a script for the prequel and also one for...

Outlander‘s upcoming spinoff Outlander: Blood of My Blood has already begun casting some familiar characters, which poses a big question: Will the new series include Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan)? In a universe that involves time travel, it seems like the door could certainly be open to the possibility, but considering this will be an original story not previously shared by author Diana Gabaldon, there’s no source material to reference for such Easter eggs. Blood of My Blood will chronicle the love stories between Claire’s parents Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine) in World War I England as well as Jamie’s parents Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) in the 18th-century Scottish Highlands. (Credit: Starz) While the main focus would undoubtedly be on the main couples, it feels as though the time-traveling aspect leaves the door open for...

Starz‘s Outlander spinoff, Blood of My Blood, has begun filming in Scotland. Tony Curran will play Simon Fraser — 11th Lord Lovat and Jamie Fraser’s grandfather — in the period drama, and the Scottish actor tells TV Insider that the Blood of My Blood scripts are “juicy,” in addition to some other exciting plot details. “I started shooting it last week in Scotland,” Curran tells TV Insider. He’s back in the U.K. now to promote Mary & George, premiering April 5 on Starz, but will soon return to set to continue filming the spinoff. The 10-episode series is based on Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire’s (Caitríona Balfe) parents and, as Curran reveals to us, will specifically take place in 1714 and 1914. Previously announced Blood of My Blood plot details just said it would be set the 18th-century Scottish Highlands and WWI England. The Mayflies star says that the feel...

Outlander‘s seventh season looms on the horizon as the final eight episodes of the 16-episode season will air sometime in 2024, but when will that be exactly? Starz has yet to announce the premiere date, but a special milestone could serve as the perfect launch for the long-awaited installments, as Outlander celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Could Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser’s (Sam Heughan) time-traversing love story continue to unfold on the same date as the first season’s premiere? (Credit: Starz) Debuting on Saturday, August 9, 2014, Outlander reignited excitement surrounding the characters and stories from Diana Gabaldon‘s books, turning it into a TV phenomenon as the first season unfolded. Outlander may be gearing up for its endgame, but the franchise is far from over.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood was ordered into a series and is officially in production.
But the series will differ slightly from the initial plan, and we’re sure the passionate fans of the franchise will welcome the changes.
When the show scored a formal pickup, it would be a prequel following Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) father and mother, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie.
While they will both remain in the mix for the new series, we’ll also be delving into Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) past thanks to the introduction of her parents, Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp.
Interestingly, the original series has kept details about Julia and Henry under wraps, thanks to Claire’s limited memories of them.

Julianne Nicholson isn’t holding her breath for a “Mare of Easttown” Season 2, but still would “100 percent” return to the HBO series if given the chance.
Nicholson, who won an Emmy along with co-stars Kate Winslet and Evan Peters, told People the long-awaited second season is “not impossible” but also not currently in the works. “Mare of Easttown” starred Winslet as a Pennsylvania detective investigating a series of missing girls. The show was created by Brad Ingelsby.
“It’s not impossible,” Nicholson said of a second season. “You never know.”
She added that she would “100 percent” reprise her role, “if there [was a Season 2] and Kate still was Mare and Jean [Smart] was her mom and Brad wrote it.”
However, Nicholson added, “I’m definitely not waiting for it. I’m not losing sleep over it. But if that was happening and I was invited to join, yeah, definitely.”

The Santa Barbara International Film Festival will honor Jeffrey Wright with the Montecito Award at a Feb. 15 event. At the event, Wright will discuss his career leading up to this year’s performance in “American Fiction,” for which he has received lead actor nominations for the Gotham, Spirit, Golden Globe and Critics Choice Awards.
“I’ve been a fan of Mr. Wright since I first saw him in 1993 in the original Broadway production of “Angels in America.” I’ve since admired that he brings a high level of class and integrity to every role he does. Yet, no film had capitalized on his extraordinary range and virtuosity until “American Fiction.” It is about time,” Sbiff’s Executive Director Roger Durling.
Wright has received Tony, Emmy, AFI and Golden Globe awards and has appeared in “Rustin,” “No Time to Die,” “Westworld,” “Asteroid City” and “The Batman.”
Past recipients of the Montecito Award include Angela Bassett,...
