Last year, Angel Studios opened a booth at CinemaCon in Last Vegas to launch its distribution arm. That paid off handsomely after “Sound of Freedom” exploded to a $250 million worldwide gross. This year, they took to a much bigger stage for a Caesar’s Palace breakfast presentation and announced its intention to stun the industry again.
The Angel headliner was “David,” an animated musical based on the Biblical story of David vs. Goliath. Or, as the studio’s chief marketing officer Alex Nielsen told the audience: “We intend to release the most successful animated film of all time.”
Angel dated “David” for Thanksgiving weekend 2025, but it presented a full trailer and a full song to a packed, standing-room only house inside the Palace Ballroom. The trailer also touted that former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow is an executive producer on the project.

Will Euphoria Season 3 ever see the light of day?
That’s been the big question ever since stars like Jacob Elordi and Sydney Sweeney soared in popularity after the release of Euphoria Season 2 in 2022.
Zendaya, who headlines the Emmy-winning drama, was a massive star before the show, and her career has continued to go from strength to strength during a lengthy hiatus between Euphoria Season 2 and the planned Euphoria Season 3.
When rumors swirled last week that the show had been canceled, HBO quickly pointed out that the cast was expected to return for filming later.
According to Variety, the series’ future is uncertain due to a myriad of issues.
Creator Sam Levinson allegedly turned in scripts for the third season that left HBO “feeling unsatisfied.”

“Euphoria” star Storm Reid has acknowledged the recent news from HBO that filming of Season 3 on the Sam Levinson-created series has been put on hold, expressing optimism that the production will come together down the line.
“I would hope the viewers, the audience will be able to finish the show,” Reid tells Variety, speaking Thursday at the opening of USC’s School of Dramatic Arts’ Drama Center in Los Angeles. “I think we should handle the show with care. We’ve put our hearts and soul into it.”
News of the production delay was confirmed Monday. “HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season,” an HBO spokesperson told Variety at the time. “In the interim, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities.”

Filming for Euphoria season three has been put on hold.
The Sam Levinson drama was expected to start production soon on its long-awaited new season. But that plan has changed to give Levinson more time to work on the dark teen drama’s scripts.
In addition, the show’s cast — which includes Dune: Part Two star Zendaya and Anyone but You star Sydney Sweeney — is being allowed to pursue other opportunities.
“HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season,” HBO said in a statement. “In the interim, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities.”
That said, the cast has not been released from their contracts, and HBO still intends to get Euphoria season three on the air sometime in 2025.
In an interview with Elle for Zendaya’s September 2023 cover story, Levinson had teased the new season as a “film noir,” saying Zendaya’s...

“Euphoria” Season 3 has been delayed at HBO.
“HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season,” an HBO spokesperson told Variety. “In the interim, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities.”
The scripts for Season 3 are still being written. The news comes after a report that the show’s third season has been scrapped entirely.
Production on the show’s third season had long been delayed, in part due to the Hollywood strikes and the July 2023 death of Angus Cloud, who played local drug dealer Fez. The show has also launched most of its cast — including Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney and Hunter Schafer — into the upper echelon of Hollywood, making it harder to coordinate production schedules.
In November 2023, HBO confirmed that the show’s third season was expected to premiere in 2025, meaning there would be at least a three-year gap between seasons since...

It's no secret that the production of a television show is quite strict. With a massive cast and crew that needs to be managed, and a hard deadline to meet a season premiere, they must adhere to a tight schedule that leaves as little to chance as possible.
However, TV show creators sometimes manage to deviate from the plan and inject some impromptu creativity into the filming of a scene. This can be the result of a sudden strike of inspiration on the part of the cast, the director, the writer or even the showrunner. But sometimes, this random detour away from the script comes about completely by accident. Whatever the cause, these unplanned flourishes lead to scenes that are far more real for those involved than what might have thought. Because of the added realism, these scenes tend to pack more of an emotional punch or a gut-busting laugh,...

“Euphoria” Season 3 has been slated for 2025, HBO boss Casey Bloys announced at a press event Thursday morning.
The Sam Levinson series’ title was shown in a sizzle reel that said “Coming in 2025” alongside “The Last of Us” Season 2, “The White Lotus” Season 3 and the “It” prequel series “Welcome to Derry.”
Not much else has been revealed about the upcoming third season of “Euphoria,” except for Levinson teasing in August that he views the next batch of episodes as a “film noir.” The showrunner said that through the eyes of Zendaya’s Rue, he will “explore what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world.”
“Euphoria” stars Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Maude Apatow, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Angus Cloud, Barbie Ferreira and Dominic Fike as troubled high schoolers caught up in a world of drugs, love and crime.
Eric Dane, Storm Reid, Colman Domingo, Javon Walton, Austin Abrams and Nika King also star.

Zendaya took to social media on Tuesday to pay tribute to her Euphoria co-star and onscreen savior Angus Cloud, who died at 25.
The Emmy-winning actress’ emotional statement comes the day after news broke that Cloud, who played Fezco in the hit HBO series, died a week after burying his father in Ireland, a loss his family said he took very hard.

She continued, “I know people use this expression often when talking about folks they love…’they could light up any room they entered’ but boy let me tell you, he was the best at it.

We quickly discover he’s actually stranded on Earth, 65 million years ago, something the film expects to show us as some big shock reveal, maybe it would work if it wasn’t plastered all over the marketing for the film. With only one chance at rescue, Mills and the only other survivor, Koa (Ariana Greenblatt) must make their way across the unknown terrain riddled with dangerous prehistoric creatures. “Scream VI” slashed through the competition at the Thursday box office, taking in $5.7 million in preview showings. The Adam Driver-starring sci-fi thriller “65” followed suit with $1.2 million.
The latest installment in the beloved horror franchise opens Friday in approximately 3,675 domestic locations. Previews took place Thursday evening at 3,125 theaters starting at 5:30 p.m. The Paramount and Spyglass Media Group film is expected to earn $35 to $40 million this weekend, possibly besting “Scream V,” which opened to $30 million. For a comparison, that film grossed $3.5 million at the Thursday box office in January 2022. It went on to make $81.6 million in the U.S. and $137.7 million worldwide against a $25 million budget.
Bolstered by a starry cast and stellar early reviews (79% from critics and 93% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes), “Scream VI” is aiming to beat the franchise box office record, currently held by “Scream 3” with $34.7 million ($60.3 million in today’s currency).

The 2023 Super Bowl is still over two days away, but Sony Pictures has decided to give us an "early look" at a new (wordless) teaser trailer for the Adam Driver-led sci-fi thriller "65." It was appropriately released 65 hours ahead of Sunday's football kick-off. Sony is also indulging in some clever wordplay with the words "big game." It has two meanings, as you can tell. On one hand, it refers to the 2023 Super Bowl as the big football game — and also dinosaurs, in that Adam Driver is hunting some very big game.
In "65," as with HBO's excellent ongoing "The Last of Us," the male protagonist Mills (Driver) must keep a young girl called Koa (Ariana Greenblatt) safe from all kinds of monsters. The two are the only survivors of a crashlanding, one that has somehow taken Mills and his futuristic gun 65 million years into Earth's past. That's why there are so many dinosaurs around.

Any parent who somehow finds themselves watching HBO’s addictively compelling Euphoria must pray their children know no one like Rue or are raising anyone like her. The series, which debuted in 2019 just as the world locked down, has only grown in popularity. My high school students, apparently, didn’t trip over it until season two arrived earlier this year. Given the higher profile and awards it has justly earned, HBO has combined the two seasons onto DVD for home consumption, no subscription required.
Rue, played with a rawness by Zendaya, is a 17-year-old whose life began to spiral out of control after the death of her father. Alcohol, drugs, and sex were combined in varying quantities as she sought a balm, but repeated attempts at rehab proved futile. As the show’s narrator, Rue shows us her pessimistic outlook on life and helplessness; without a real sense she’s seeking redemption or salvation.

Euphoria was HBO's first foray into programming for a younger audience than its typical fare.
The Zendaya-fronted series has delivered bumper ratings, a rave reception, and recognition with major awards wins.
When the series snagged a third season renewal, rumors started to emerge that the series would be wrapping up.
However, HBO's Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys shut down reports that the series is ending.
In an interview with Deadline after the show scooped up six awards at the Emmys, Bloys clarified the network's intention.
He wants the show to continue beyond a third season and for the series to evolve as its characters get older.
There is always that worry with dramas set in high schools that they will try to keep the teenagers as teenagers for as long as possible.
But it seems like Euphoria is embracing the change, and that could keep things fresh for a fourth season -- and beyond.

The actresses also in the category were Melanie Lynskey (Yellowjackets), Laura Linney (Ozark), Reese Witherspoon (The Morning Show), and Killing Eve's Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh.

When Euphoria Season 3 gets underway, one of its most popular characters will not be present.
Barbie Ferreira stunned fans this week when she took to Instagram to reveal her departure.
“After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I’m having to say a very teary eyed goodbye," the star shared.
“I hope many of you could see yourself in her like i did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today.”
Kat was a pivotal character on Euphoria Season 1, but the character was underutilized on Euphoria Season 2, leading to a string of reports of unrest between the actress and series creator Sam Levison.
Some of the rumors claimed Ferreira walked off the set multiple times while shooting the second season.

Sam Levinson began writing a show in 2006 based on his own experience with drugs as a teenager. When he was brought in to adapt the Israeli series Euphoria for HBO, he found the vehicle to infuse his own struggles with addiction and anxiety into the story. The first season of Euphoria premiered in 2019 and landed nine Emmy nominations, scoring three wins including Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Zendaya. HBO is juggling multiple television shows for a shot at the Primetime Emmy Awards, which could make them a dominating force in all categories, particularly for directing and writing.
Just wrapping its season finale, “Barry” is expected to match, if not exceed, its previous 18 nomination haul last time. Actor and producer Bill Hader will be among the “locks” for outstanding comedy series and lead actor (comedy). Still, with two previous Emmy noms for directing, he’ll be in the running again with the episode “710N,” the sixth episode that finds the titular hitman attacked by Traci’s gang. Three “Barry” episodes will also vie for attention in the writing categories: “710N” (by Duffy Boudreau), “candy asses” (by Liz Sarnoff) and the finale “starting now” (by Hader and Alec Berg).

HBO has responded to claims that its hit series Euphoria fostered a toxic and unsafe working environment.
A Daily Beast story published last month alleged multiple issues during the production of Euphoria Season 2.
One of the alleged issues was that the people working on the show had 15 to 17-hour workdays, including "hellish" night shoots.
It was also alleged that various background actors made formal complaints to SAG-AFTRA over failure “to provide them meals on time and refusing to let people use the bathroom,” according to the article.
Another allegation claimed Barbie Ferreira (Kat) slipped and injured herself while filming a hot tub scene.
“The well-being of cast and crew on our productions is always a top priority," HBO shared in a statement to Deadline.
"The production was in full compliance with all safety guidelines and guild protocols."
"It’s not uncommon for drama series to have complex shoots, and Covid protocols add an additional layer,...

Fans are certainly feeling euphoric after the Season 2 “Euphoria” finale, thanks to record-breaking viewership and history-making tweets.
The Zendaya-helmed ensemble cast behind the hit HBO series cemented “Euphoria” as the network’s second-most-watched show since 2004 behind only “Game of Thrones,” as WarnerMedia reported.
The Season 2 finale marked a series high with 6.6 million viewers. According to HBO, “Euphoria” Season 2 episodes are now averaging 16.3 million viewers. To date, the second-season premiere’s viewership has approached 19 million viewers in the U.S., with the per-episode-viewership average up nearly 100 percent from the first season with just the first four episodes of Season 2.
That 16.3 million average is higher than the first three seasons of “Game of Thrones,” which averaged 9.3 million, 11.6 million, and 14.4 million respectively. “Game of Thrones” Season 4 averaged 19.1 million — which, when all is said and done, “Euphoria” could potentially beat given the Season 1 premiere’s growing figures on streaming.

“Euphoria” season 2 went out with a bang. Once again, the latest episode (which was also the Season 2 finale) drew a series-high viewership across all platforms.
HBO said that the drama series is now the network’s second most-watched series after “Game of Thrones.”
On Sunday, 6.6 million viewers tuned in for episode eight, titled “All My Life, My Heart Has Yearned for a Thing I Cannot Name.” That number is 30% above episode 7’s same-day viewership and over five times higher than the same-day viewership for the Season 1 finale.
“Euphoria” returned from its two-and-a-half year hiatus last month. The premiere drew 2.4 million same-day viewers, which doubled its prior record of 1.2 million for the show’s Season 1 finale in August of 2019.
Season 2 episodes are averaging around 16 million viewers when factoring in delayed viewing. The premiere is now approaching 19 million viewers in the seven weeks since it launched. The Season 1 audience average was 6.6 million...

According to HBO, “Euphoria” Season 2 episodes are now averaging 16.3 million viewers, the best performance for any season of an HBO series over the past 18 years, other than “Game of Thrones.” To date, the Season 2 premiere’s viewership is approaching 19 million viewers in the U.S.
“Euphoria” was once again the top title on HBO Max in the U.S. for the seventh week in a row, as well as the top series for the week in both Latin America and Europe.

Anticipation for the "Euphoria" season two finale might have broken HBO, but all in all, it was disappointing. Sure, there were a few good moments: the ending of Lexi's (Maude Apatow) play; Cassie's (Sydney Sweeney) onstage meltdown that resulted in a smackdown with Maddy (Alexa Demie); Rue (Zendaya) forgiving Elliot (Dominic Fike) for exposing that she was still on drugs; Nate (Jacob Elordi) calling the police on his dad, Cal (Eric Dane), for recording his sexual assault of minors; and Ashtray (Javon Walton) and Fezco (Angus Cloud) proving to be the actual definition of ride-or-die.
What's alarming is all these intense moments left more questions than answers. There were also cliffhangers from previous episodes that were never addressed. Does Rue ever forgive Jules for sleeping with Elliot? Do Lexi and Cassie mend their relationship? Do Cassie and Maddy make up? How long is Cal going to jail for? Does Fez go to jail?...

Emmy-worthy performances abound in season two of "Euphoria," but Nika King's portrayal of Leslie Bennett is a particular standout. As the mother of Rue and Gia Bennett, Leslie has her hands full in the HBO show's second installment: in addition to supporting Rue though drug addiction, she juggles protecting Gia as their family threatens to crumble and coping with high-functioning depression. And she's doing it all on her own following the death of her husband.
King brings a nuanced approach to playing the mom of a relapsing teen - in some scenes, she's delicate and patient, and others, fierce and unflinching. "You layer your own personal experiences with imagination, with what-ifs, and you create this conglomerate of emotions that is only going to feed the character," she tells Popsugar.
However, the actor and stand-up comedian knows not everyone agrees with Leslie's parenting tactics, especially after the...
